I'm currently using sevenrocks build, and I'm pretty happy with it thus far.
Debating whether it would be worth the hassle of backing up, wiping, flashing and restoring apps to move to Quarx's new build.
Anybody used both and can shed light on the general differences?
Is it actually that noticeable in average use? (and has camera performance drastically improved?)

I've had no issues with ringtone bugs or ghost touches, so remove those from the equation for this comparison. I'm interested purely in a comparison of their general performance, stability and battery life.

I am using the new February 17 Quarx nightly for a day now. No ghost touches so far, and battery life is still bad: Android OS keeps the phone woken up a lot, uses a lot of battery. 4% per hour idle with wi-fi on.

Camera performance is very similar to sevenrock's build when taking photos, however video recording seems to have improved: it's easier to stop recording (it took several touches before) and saving the video is instant, it goes back to viewfinder preview right away.

Unfortunately, recorded videos are stuttering every 1-2 second when played back, and quality is still bad because resolution and video/audio bitrate are low (using Android 4.2 camera).

When modifying video quality settings in lgCamera, recording either fails completely, or (when setting higher audio sample rate) audio mutes after 10 seconds.

About your 4% per hour consuption, is your WIFI enabled over the mobile (3G or 2G) data ? Or WIFI only (without mobile data) ?

About the Android OS battery usage, could the explanation be what ktmbikerman said on the following quote ??

Not sure if this is related to our CM10 or Android 4.1 in general, but I've noticed that with stock froyo (on my spare defy used by my kids to play games), the games and their battery usage is listed properly in battery usage stats. On CM10 it all seems to be lumped together under "Android OS", hence the higher than normal usage.

If you turn on wifi, Android is supposed to turn off mobile data (hence the icon changing to phone only bars). But to answer your question: I have wifi on, and I do not turn mobile data off.

I always suspected that Android OS could be a proxy for some of the apps that I use, however I have no idea how to investigate that.
I don't run any games, so ktmbikerman's assumption seems to be a wild guess.

Yes, the icon changes to wifi bars only but i'm not sure mobile data is off in reality, because if you look into the network parameters, I think that in this case, the mobile data check box is still activated ... I can't test now because I don't have WIFI access at the moment...But, that means that your battery usage could be higher with both Mobile data and WIFI on than WIFI only.... Just a supposition...

EDIT : in my case, with 20130217 Quarx build and with mobile data on / 2G only, I have between 1% and 1.6% per hour (even if I know that network battery consuption depends on location)...Yesterday I've tested with WIFI only and I had roughly the same percentages with WIFI on (WIFI only)...
Today with 3G enabled, it was about 3% per hour....So, that's why I wonder about your 4% and your 3G and WIFI activated at the same time

OK but I thought about all kind of apps, not only games

hey guys.

I'm new to rooting defy. But not to rooting at all (I own a Desire HD wich is rooted and customized) At the moment i'm trying to get the CM10 Nightly to work with an MB525.

Rooted the phone via SuperonClickRoot and Installed 2ndInit and CWM via SndInit-1.4.2.apk After this i installed CM10-20120723-NIGHTLY-mb525.zip via CWM and gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip. But directly after installing i figured out that there is a newer version. ^^

Okay, so back to Recovery and installed CM10-20130217-NIGHTLY-mb526.zip.

Okay, phone works well except slow booting. And low recognition several minutes after booting. Hmm, okay, maybe this is due to first boots, and setup procedure. After some minutes behaviour is okay i think.

But then i took a look into the Overclock menu and saw that the processor is only powering with 300 MHZ (saw it in first entry) the third entry (max frequency) is zero too. I think this is not normal. Even CPUStats does not show anything.

Do i have to install a actual kernel too? I'm confused regarding the sbfs system from motorla (don'tknow this before) and update instructions i found here many xda defy guides.

Can you help me? The phone is a green lens phone, MB525, and original FW was a 2.5.1 Froyo T-Mobile Germany.

Do i have installed the correct version of CM10-nightly? Do i have to install another file i need? Why are the cpu settings not showing the right way? Is the slow booting behaviour normal?

Thanks in Advance for your help!

I appreciate some of the comments here about the difficulty of keeping threads like this cleaned and organized, especially with so many users not following instructions. However, this is the job I signed up for, so it's not a big deal. :)

That being said, since nothing else seems to be working, I'm going to temporarily close this to force people to use the other support threads for this ROM. If you have a legitimate bug to report and serious question that needs answering, use the support threads (an absolute last resort would be PMing the developer). This will be reopened at the appropriate time.

Android 4.2 has new libc/linker, which breaks compatibility with old moto binaries. Need some time to fix it:)
