What would happen if you flashed a rom and then your phone died? Would it just go back to stock Sense or would you lose data?

how are you going to flash a rom do you have recovery installed?

It was a hypothetical question. I've rooted many devices in the past but have never used a root method like this before. It's a bit unclear on the whole temporary root.

if we had recovery we would have perminant root and it wouldnt be a problem. this root is just reset after a reboot so any app that uses root is also reset for now.
