Special Notes
  • Do NOT remove TouchWiz Launcher from this ROM, doing so will cause contact syncing issues & "acore" force closes
  • Any kernel should work with this ROM other than stock.
  • If you are coming from 1.1.xx do NOT try to save yourself some time by flashing 1.2.xx overtop of it. 1.1 & 1.2 are completely different frameworks.

Ok, after your battery life post I'm going to jump into the rom thing.

So I'm an IT guy and I'm pretty good with this stuff but I've never done this on an android phone.

correct me if I'm wrong.

steps are

1. Root phone using "One click root"
2. Install this ROM

right?

Just make sure you also have Clockwork Recovery installed as well.

I'll second this question with a call for a step by step guide on how to install this ROM on complete stock Epic.

To install a ROM from stock, here's how.

Navigate to "Settings-->Applications-->Development
Ensure that "USB debugging" is checked.
Plug in your USB cord
Run "One click root for the Epic 4G"
Run the "One Click" ClockworkMod Recovery
Shut down phone
Power up the phone while holding the volume down + camera + power button
You should now be in Clockwork Recovery mode
Navigate to "wipe data/factory reset"
Now "wipe cache partition"
Now it's time to install the ROM (should be located on your SD card)
Select "install zip from sdcard"
"choose zip from sdcard"
Install the ROM
Reboot.

Any way you can get visual voicemail to work without the mms messages like you get on the AOSP magic rom? Also if you could get the pause/skip/play functionality off the provided inline headphones you would be my hero!

I will look into making a final version of this ROM, although it may be a bit... going through a lot right now.

The 3G/1x issue is not really an issue, its just that your phone is now accurately showing what data connection you are on, I changed the framework so the phone isn't lying anymore. Originally if you were on 1x it would still say 3G.
