Alternate Download

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with providing an alternate download. My work blocks Mega and I was hoping to see if I can flash an older modem to see if it gave better service in my area.

Thanks,

You can just flash these with Odin right? I can't get them to work, when I flash MJ4 or NAB everything passes but once it boots into android it still says NC5 as my modem version. What am I doing wrong?

Yeah, Odin. The program is going through the entire flash successfully?

I just tried it twice in a row and now it says MJ4 for baseband version AND software version.. I'm still on 4.4.2 though.

Edit: also using NC5D bootloader.

There are two things that I think might help...

  1. Power off phone completely.
When I was updating from MJ4 to NAB, I was directed to power off the phone completely before powering on to Download Mode. If I choose the "Restart to Download Mode" option, it doesn't stick.
  2. Install the Engineering Bootloader, then try again.
Again, I'm not 100% sure if this will fix it, but the Engineering Bootloader is described as "allowing us to easily flash basebands in the future," so it could help you out. I'd still power the phone completely off prior to installing both the bootloader and the modem.

I hope one of these two works for you!

done some reading in nc5d leak thread ,is it possible to go back to mj4 from nc5d. some said successful going back to mj4

Not at all. Once you're on TouchWiz KitKat (NAB, NC5), you cannot go back to MJ4.

The only thing you can do is flash the engineering bootloader, and flash any of the modems listed (NC5, NAB, MJ4).

No, if you have a stock system, you should be fine. We use this all the time with customers who are on 4.4.2 and need the downgrade. Doing it from 4.4.4 causes issues, so it's better to downgrade to 4.4.2 first if possible.

Hey, guys. These are the flashable modems from the MJ4 and NAB Stock ODIN files. These have not been modified in any way by me. Both are able to be flashed on 4.4.2 which I have done. I've only used the MJ4 Modem personally, so flash at your own risk.

    MD5sums are as follows:
    MJ4 Modem: b29b60bf2d38650e2aa2adb2b819b4fe
    NAB Modem: 2c0c175c91d9ce587dba91e624e22b09

BIG Thanks to rwilco12 for his guide on extracting files and creating flashable tars and to rpenrod23 for submitting the link for the tars.

I don't have a mega account!! Any other way to get it? Flashables would awesome! Just saying....

Just download from PC and a browser that plays well with that site, like IE, Chrome or Firefox.

No problem. And just so you know, I truly was just making a suggestion. If there's another route to getting what is needed, I'm sure the folks here can provide the way.

I used Firefox on my phone with open as desktop option. Worked perfect. Thank you micmars for the idea. Your library of knowledge proves invaluable once again .
