Stripped down AOKP 4.4.2 base, trying to make it as lightweight as possible. ~ 156 Mb zip

The goal is to provide an efficeint, minimal groundwork for users to customize the way they like it.

Amazing battery life.

Base install has only ten apps in the drawer! (see Screenshots section above)

- Rooted

- ROM Control

- Working ART Update coming with Android L - stay tuned!

- Removed -
.. Google Analytics via noAnalytics Remix
.. Stock Apps (see Changelog below for complete list)
.. Live Wallpapers
.. Bootanimations
.. Stock ringtones/alarms/notifications
.. Bloat

- Silent camera

- AOKP kernel

Other optimizations coming!

bareBones download link hosted by XDA Dev-DB (at the top of the thread)

Minimal GAPPS

Current recommendation is Paranoid Android GAPPs package.

BaNKS minimal GAPPs started causing FCs and other issues, so until that's resolved try PA.

Installation Instructions

Make sure you are on the latest CWM Recovery!

1) Nandroid Backup
2) Wipe Data & Cache/Factory Reset (if you experience issues, it's probably due to a dirty flash over an old version)
3) Flash ROM
4) Flash GAPPS (optional)
5) Reboot
6) Enjoy!

Feel free to buy me a coconut water (donate) if you like my work. It would be greatly appreciated!

can you post a screenshot of the battery life? And im guessing this doesnt have any additional features (halo, lockscreen notifications) in favour of better battery life?

I got my hands on an HTC One yesterday and decided to port my project from the Nexus 4 (mako). Haven't had a chance to do screenshots yet but let me know how it works for you. bareBones is a constant improvement-in-progress.

I have not stripped any ROM control features from AOKP, so things like Ribbon and Navigation Ring are still available. Just want to provide a basic groundwork for people to customize the way they like it.

Alright cool, ill let you know how the battery holds up.

And understood, one thing to note is that all accents are in blue (4.3) instead of white (4.4) on the loading screen etc.

just setting it up now.

bugs-

1. the torch works, but it won't work for my app "flash alerts pro". I like that app for making a flash when I get a call / txt. But I don't see the test flashes when I try to set up the app.

2. anytime i download an app, once it's done it says "google play services is not responding". I think that's because I'm using PA's stock G-apps because I wanted most of the google apps instead of none like this rom gave. Is there a better option you recommend for Gapps?

everything else seems pretty responsive / fast so far, i'll keep you posted. I'm hoping I can get this flash thing figured out, I want to keep this ROM. PA beta's have been causing me lot's of problems, this seems to be the best 4.4 google edition rom i've found so far out of the 3 i've tried.

edit: also, how would i be able to get the volume controls to switch were you can change all 3 by hitting the settings button at the end of the volume bar. (phone, music, alarm) volumes

Check out the link the OP for BaNkS's Core GAPPS. It's only the Play Store, then you can install what you want.

Look at the options available under ROM Control.

So this is a slimmed down AOKP then...

it has all the features of an aokp rom though

---------- Post added at 09:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:43 AM ----------

rom doesnt like custom kernels, tried two different ones (lunar and teamseven). Leads to blackscreens (randomly), delayed screen on, and random shutdowns on them.

let it settle, a couple of charges in and the battery stabilizes. And why the hell is google keyboard using 87% of the battery

I guess I can live with this battery life, lol. 90% reading in Wattpad, but some Twitter, some video watching, little bit of Hangouts. Data on the whole time. I just connected to WiFi before taking screenshot, though WiFi was on the entire time. Was in a low reception building. Stock kernel and settings. This thing is great. :)

does anyone know how to port this to samsung galaxy W?

or show some guide on how to do it? thanks

Honestly, it'd be so much easier and more efficient to build AOKP from source and remove unnecessary apps using this rom as a reference for which to keep (however there may be sammy things that are necessary to keep, idk).
