Here's how to download the Kindle software update version 7.1.5 and transfer it to your Kindle via USB:
①.Determine your software version: Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap More. Tap Device, and then tap About. If you see a System Version other than "Current Version: 7.1.5," proceed to step 2.

②.Download your software: Click the following link to download the software update file directly to your computer: Download Software Update 7.1.5

③.Transfer software to your Kindle Fire: Turn on your Kindle Fire and unlock the screen. Then connect it to your computer using a USB cable. On your Kindle Fire drive (the drive is typically displayed as a "device" icon), open the Internal storage folder. Drag and drop the new update file from your computer to the kindleupdates folder on your Kindle drive. Do not drop the file into any other folder on the Kindle drive.

④.Monitor file transfer and disconnect: Check your file transfer progress to ensure file transfer to your Kindle is complete before disconnecting. After the file has transferred successfully, disconnect the USB cable from your Kindle and your computer.

⑤.Start the software update: On the Home screen, swipe down from the top and select More. Tap Device, and then tap About. Then tap Update Your Kindle. Your Kindle will restart during the update. After the restart, you will see Your Kindle is Updating.

⑥.Once the update is complete and your Kindle has restarted: If your software update was successful, your System Version should now read 7.1.5.

As I'm browsing the bin file trying to find the missing link for Instant Video, I have noticed a few things.

There are files for USB host in there since its ICS, USB host may work as long as the hardware support it. The Special offers icon appears on /system/app/dtcp_apk.apk, maybe this is all that needs to be removed to get rid of ads.

rooted the 7.1.5?

Just a few minutes after I got my brand new kindle online, it updated itself...
Has anyone had any luck rooting the kindle fire hd 7.1.5 with the following method?
theandroidsoul.com/easy-automated-root-for-kindle-fire-hd-7/

adb simply will not recognize the kindle when attached. I've tried it on Windows Vista, 7 and Mac OSX 10.6.8. However I'm able to connect and transfer files fine.
adb and 'allow installation of applications' are both enabled on the kindle.

Thanks for the input.

I had the exact same problem, i tried several different methods of rooting several different times and i could never get the adb to recognize. what i did that worked for me was unistalling the driver software for the kindle in the device manager, while your kindle is unplugged, then download the new drivers and then plug your kindle fire back in. then in the device manager it should recognize the kindle as composite which means adb is working and simply try the automated install again and it would work.

So I downloaded the update file from Amazon and pulled out the necessary instant video and loaded them on my 1st generation Fire running a 4.1.1 JB ROM in hopes of having my Amazon Instant Prime Videos play...all I got was an error message that Amazon had unexpectedly quit working.....

I had used a previous thread on what files to pull from the first generation Fire....

Any thoughts??

problem with home button and status bar

Hi everyone,

My home button and the "swipe from the top" has disappeared since my last restart. I really have no idea what's happened and now I am using the apps called "Button Savior" to return the home screen.Maybe thid was because I have deleted some system files from system/data/data/com.android. providers.settings. I have restarted several times and it didn't work for my device. Now its really inconvenient to use the Kindle Fire HD. My current software version is 7.1.13. Could you guys help me to solve this problem? Thank you very much in advance.

There is a thread on the notification bar disappearing, it seems to be linked to the Gmail app. I would follow that thread for more information.

Is there any reason that the su script and the super User app can't be integrated in this update file?

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
