Don't know if this is an issue for anyone else, but my QKSMS app doesn't have the 'longer' vibration when I receive a msg, rather only the 'shorter' length vibration of other apps. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I love the app.
Just a few bugs: MMS consisting of a picture and a text message are shown twice (and probably created twice in the database since the stock app displays them twice aswell).
I get only phone numbers in the notification panel, not names.
Is it possible to change the icon? I see a nice red icon on some screenshots. I'd love a more minimalist icon, either without text or with just a smiley ":)" like on the stock Jelly Bean app.

I like to distinguish SMS from the rest, but I agree it could be nice to customize the vibration scheme.

It would be nice to customize, but for some reason all other SMS apps have the long vibration on my phone, just not this one. It's a little confusing.

Nearly Perfect.

Nearly Perfect. Gave it 4/5 Stars on the Play Store

What I Like:
  • Material Design look is great. I like that you used the Material Color Palette as well.
  • Fast & Simple. A HUGE plus for me when it comes to an MMS app.
  • The appearance customization is perfect. It provides users with a nice amount of customization without getting too overwhelming. Sometimes, too many options are a bad thing.
What I would Like:
  • The Ability to choose or create my own custom vibration pattern. This is another feature that is almost a must have when it comes to messaging apps. The default vibration pattern is extremely close to, if not identical to, the Facebook Messenger vibration pattern. I don't really tend to Facebook Messenger notifications as urgently as I do text messages, so I've caught myself ignoring text messages with my gf a few times and that's a bad thing haha.
  • The ability to add a picture or video to a message I've already typed. The Send button replaces the attach button after you type anything in, so If I begin to type my message BEFORE I want to send a picture I have to cut the text out, choose a picture and then paste the text back in. A bit annoying, but I can get used to this.

Bugs / Problems I've encountered:
  • When first installing the app, it was unable to set my Sprint APN, which I had to enter manually. No big deal, but I thought that was weird.
  • Sometimes the wrong contact picture will appear next to the person that I'm currently conversing with. The contact picture usually is the picture of the person that I was talking to previously. Ex. If I were talking to Bob, and then Alice texts me and I go to reply to Alice's text, her picture would appear as Bob's contact picture, even though I'm speaking to Alice. I've had this happen several times, but I am unable to repetitively reproduce this issue.
  • Sometimes the contact pictures of several contacts in the Conversation List will be incorrect or swapped with other contacts. I've had this happen several times, but I am unable to repetitively reproduce this issue.
  • Random crashes. Usually happens when I unlock the phone
  • Sometimes conversations appear completely empty, even though they aren't. This seems to happen randomly, although I've noticed that this happens most commonly when waking up the phone after it goes to sleep with the app still open. Screenshot:

I really like this messaging app, but sending MMS has been impossible whether on data or wifi. It just hangs and shows "sending" until I just end up deleting. Went back to stock android app, and MMS sends just fine. I paid for the + version, but there is still a problem with this functionality.

If and when this gets fixed, I'll be back.

Thanks for sharing my app! If anyone has any questions then I would be happy to answer :)
any chance for contact-specific ringtones? that's the one major item stopping me from using this app
also on my wishlist: contact-specific colors (like in googles new messaging app), contact-specific notification light color

If I open an incoming SMS still remains as "unread". I need to manually longpress on sms then select "mark as read". Fixes?

The app looks great. I especially like the option to change the overall color :good:. It is very smooth and fast, no noticeable lag until now.
Bugs I've noticed so far:
  • the context is not saved when you switch for portrait to landscape or viceversa: if you write something in the message text box and change the orientation the text is lost
  • the pictures are displayed only for the contacts that I've manually set; no picture is displayed for the contacts that have pictures synced from facebook

No such issues, just reconfirmed. Works perfect. :good:

Anyone know how to save received pictures? Am I missing something? Love the app and this seems to be the only thing holding me back. Tia

Does it support Dual-SIM mode ? If yes, i am willing to test the App on my Moto-G

I just installed this after it showed up on F-Droid and while it looks nice it still doesn't have option for selecting SIM nor is that issue listed on QKSMS's Github page.

Even though it doesn't look like it here, there still appears to be some dev activity on it over there and it's GPL-licenced so that's always a positive.

I've been using this as a daily driver since alpha days. It has several bugs. Good thing the dev already made it open-source.

Hi all
A important question, does qksms not allow landscape mode writing?
Iam on lollipop stock android but I can't write a SMS in landscape. Because I can't see what I'm writing in landscape!

I will add a picture;

Thank you for helping!
I like qksms, but it seems quiet buggy?

Greetings ivi

2nd Sim slot

Hi OP,

Nice app. Since its open source, I'll continue to use it in order to show support !

I just have two points for you:
1. It seems the app still hasnt got dual sim support. I HIGHLY advise that you get it built in. Most of the phones in eastern countries have dual sims. It is almost a necessity in the app.
Its high time now.

2. Secondly, i'm facing an issue. I don't have 2 SIMs in my phone, but i do have 2 slots. When i insert SIMin first slot, the app works fine. When i insert the SIM in the 2nd slot, message sending fails.

Can anybody help me resolve this ?

An apps with ad in beta stage is not accepted.

Please use the app for more than 6 seconds before you say something like that.
One of the first options in the settings is to disable the ads. For free.

I'm not even charging anything to use the app, it shouldn't matter that it's in "beta". There are apps in the Play Store that are far more incomplete than mine, but I'm calling it beta because I have higher standards for what I am releasing, and so people can try it and give feedback before it has been perfected.

Please, for your own good, try to lose some that sense of entitlement that you have. The world will be a happier place, I promise.

    Great app

Some emoji and smile are missing....but I hope it will come in the next versions:D
@Dev.if you need input....you can use "8sms" from the store as template....
Select more conversations to delet......that's would be also a great option.....

    Cheers

Recently I've actually been looking into the Android source code to help me make the app more efficient (that's what 8sms is based on )

---------- Post added at 11:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 AM ----------

Installed it yesterday and playing around with it for sometime. To start off it looks super clean and smooth to use for the most part. The good things first
    - I really like the way the color scheme is implemented. It makes the app look super clean and elegant.
    - I dont have a lot of messages, but it seems to scroll and transition smoothly on Nexus 5 running android L preview.

    Some minor issues
    - Currently app is prompting everytime I open it to set as default app. I am using it to play around and check the app out. So could it be possible to make it not ask everytime when the app is opened? Maybe you can add the option to set default sms app in settings and pop-up the default app message only on the first run.
    - There is a small delay when opening the app and black bar before the theme is loaded. It kind of feels a bit odd to see it everytime. I read in G+ that this is known and dev is looking into it.
    - Currently I cannot add more than one recipient when I click on the new message icon from conversation view. Is this area a work in progress?
    - Number needs to be displayed in conversation list if the sender is not in the contacts list. Currently it is displayed as blank and a # for the contact picture.
    - Overscroll glow blends with the white and not clearly visible when I try to swipe past the end of list. Not sure if this is OS specific or app specific color choice.

    Some feature requests
    - SMS backup to butt (say google drive)? This will really help while flashing a new ROM. Backup and restore once a new ROM is flashed. A scheduled butt backup would be awesome
    - scheduled SMS
    - Option to load only mobile number of contacts in new compose window
    - PIN/Pattern lock for security
    - Transparent (Or semi transparent) navigation bar
    - Contact details to be displayed when I click the contact name at the top.
    - Batch deletion of messages and conversations

Thats all for now. I am keenly looking forward to use this as daily driver once it becomes stable with newer features implemented. Keep up the great work.

Woah, big comment. Thanks for taking the time!

I'll answer each point in order
    Minor issues
    - That's correct. I understand that it can be annoying if you just want to check out the app, so I'm going to be making a less intrusive way of asking the user. Right now it's just a placeholder
    - That delay with black just due to some performance issues, and it's not setting the colour quick enough. It's something I need to work on, and I plan on spending a lot of time on performance soon
    - Right no there is no MMS / Group messaging, so you can only have on recipient. Within the next week or two, regardless if group texting is done or not, I'll add a way for you to just send the message to multiple people separately, but at the same time
    - If you go into the conversation and click on a message to view the details, does it show the number correctly?
    - I believe it's an OS thing. I'm not sure if I can style that myself, but I will look into it

    Feature Requests
    - Already planning on it. I often have to use someone else's app to back up my SMS, so I figured I might as well make it part of QKSMS :) I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to make this option free though. I might bundle it under the "$1 to remove ads". I definitely won't make it a separate purchase though.
    - Planning on it!
    - ^
    - Later on, I've got some ideas that I want to implement for security. They are not going to be my main focus for a little while though, I doubt they will before the app is fully launched
    - I was playing around with it and it was causing issues for the sliding panels, so I put it on hold for a little while. Once I'm done with some of the bigger stuff, I will spend some time and get it to work properly
    - I'll be adding something like that soon. Right now if you want to see contact details, you can click on their picture in the conversation list
    - Batch selection is another thing I'd like to add, after swipe to delete/archive :)

You also have to consider that the developer is more likely developing this fine product on his own time, like many others.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

    You're exactly right.

I'm still a student, in my last few weeks of high school now. Most of the time that I'm not spending studying for my exams or finishing up assignments, I'm working on QKSMS. I even quit my part-time job so that I could focus on the app more, especially once my exams are over, during the summer.

I'm hoping to have a fully polished app with more features ready before I start university, that way I can spend as much time as I need to in order to make the app better, but I don't need to worry about always being ready to fix major bugs as soon as they arise. Hopefully that doesn't happen too often once I leave the testing phase :)
