Re: [ROM] Intergalactic v2.6 [UCDLK3][2/23/2013]

I love this thread. I first picked this ROM out because of the name. I'm sure glad I did! Still best ROM out there. Good to see some collaborating between devs/cooks. Can't wait to see what's next. Pulling out the stupid slideshow that Samsung thought was cool excites me!

Keep up the good work!

I tried AOSP in the first couple weeks of having phone and sometime in between too. Never was good. One or other was breaking, most frequent issue being flicker. Plus I missed the beloved touch wiz. So I now stick with AT&T based ROMs.

Still amazes me how big of an upgrade this phone is from my previous HTC Inspire 4G. With the work from Collective and The Family, it still packs a good punch. But nothing like this S3.

In my AOSP bug-rage I didn't even see these posts. Lol. Yes in the next release I am going to get rid of MMS slideshow because it's completely annoying and I'm also going to do add a few other features like blacklisting, removing the split that occurs when you receive a text that is longer than 160 characters as well a few more goodies. I like already knowing what I'm going to do next thanks to us all working together now. enewman17 is using my LL1 kernel and a few init.d scripts in his new release now and I'm using his CSC mods and a few other things as well as loserskater and upndwn4par. Each one of them is a class act and we all help each other out. We might not have a cool name like the collective or anything like that but it isn't about that. It's about improving delivering the greatest experience possible to everyone and helping those who ask as a team. I think this is the greatest place to ask for help that I've ever seen on this website and I've seen a lot. Plus, all of you guys are awesome and patient with me as well. We're like a big happy, sometimes dysfunctional phone family. Haha. All jokes aside I really enjoy this and I'm glad I started doing it. It's been loads of fun and I've learned so much. Hopefully it won't hurt my résumé either. Hah! :)

I am not sure how many here use any of the stock live wallpapers. You might be good off stripping them off, and giving as an optional zip to flash if any of them want stock live wallpapers. This would reduce the size of ROM significantly.

That's a good suggestion. I actually use phase beam as my default. I'm afraid to have a static wallpaper for fear of image retention that happened with my Samsung Infuse. I think that was a faulty panel though. I could easily pull them and make them a flashable add-on if size is an issue. I'm also going to integrate the "intergalactic wallpaper" app that I wrote into the default one because there is now sense in having two apps for that now that I know how to modify the apk properly.

Yes the new kernel is included in the ROM and scripts were added to remove anything related to the OC/OV kernel for those who want to dirty flash.

I think image retention shouldn't be an issue. First of all, we have varying widgets on our screen. To add to that, we tend to spend less that 0.001% of time staring into the home screen.

By the way, I now know a reason for slightly lower battery on your phone - live wallpaper :)

From size perspective, removing all live wallpapers, and a couple more stock apps got ROM size down by about 30 MB, so it isn't too much.

That's awesome! I've got one year left of computer engineering and now economics at Virginia Tech. All of my friends graduated from George Mason last year though. Did you know a guy named Michael McClelland there by any chance? He was an electrical engineer and graduated already.

I don't think I'm doing too bad on battery life today with 4.5 hours of screen time, 2 hours of interstate travel time, 30 minutes of XDA, facebook notifications on, 2 hours of music steaming, 14 hours of up time with 10% to spare. :) I really like my wallpapers. The problem with the infuse is that I had the keyboard and clock burnt into the screen. It was really annoying on a gray or white background. Lol. These screens seem so much more improved since that one though so I am not worried :) I think phase beam looks pretty though. It makes me happy. Do you guys like the scrolling wallpaper? I think it makes it look so much nicer.

Have you tried different modems? That's awfully weird. Test if for one more full day at different times and if you're still getting the same results try this: The only changes made to the network settings are in init.d. Open /system/etc/init.d/02sysctl with root explorer and edit it. At the bottom, either comment out the net speed tweaks, or delete them. Save and reboot and clear caches. That's the only change made and should not have an effect like that. It sounds like a temporary network fluke to me. But try both of the above first.

Either ATT lowered my speed because I am close to 5gig limit. Or bad area. I try it out for few day and see. My new billing cycle is about to start in few day so I wait.

I would recommend a clean flash. Its worth investing in TiBu.

TB is freezing on every app + data restore after 2.6 flash with data wipe.
I can't even use it. I have never had any issues with it. Is anyone else having issues?

No problem with Tibu here. Used it after fully wiping CM10.1 and flashing 2.6 clean.

Do you notice if it freezes on a certain app? I have seen that before and skipping said app allows it to finish.

I wonder if switching to aosp is what gave me my EQ issue. Not worth the effort of going back to stock and re rooting again though.

When I restarted my phone this morning, I see qosmgr taking too much battery. I tried restarting a couple more times, but still see this.

I have attached screenshots to show the same. Even after giving enough time to settle down, for some reason, android system is taking up max battery.

Hey guys, for those of you with GPS issues, have you tried flasing a different modem? For some reason, I seem to think that back in my captivate days, flasing a different modem had impacts on the GPS of the phone as well.

you may want to give that a whirl. shouldnt hurt to try.

btw, I flashed 2.6 last night. have it all themed out and so far, It feels like the battery life will be incredible. I havent touched the clocking at all on it.

Please note: Photos represent theme work. Please use Wanam Xposed Framework (Included) to theme the ROM to your liking.

    Information:

This is a stock-based ROM that I've made using UCUEMJB firmware for the AT&T Galaxy S3. I've spent a lot of time developing this ROM making it nice and stable and using the tweaks I thought were the best for smoothness, battery life, and stability. This ROM uses a modified, optimized UCUEMJB kernel by me that includes support for init.d scripts and a few extra bells and whistles.

    Features:
    • UCUEMJB Android 4.3 Official Base
    • Modified and optimized UCUEMJB kernel by me
    • Extended power menu
    • Extended APN list
    • Smoothness and battery life tweaks
    • Fully de-odexed
    • Fully zipaligned
    • Bashed
    • Rooted
    • init.d script support and tweaks
    • Real time status bar colors
    • Real time battery bar mod
    • 1% battery mod
    • ADB support
    • Debloating
    • Xposed Framework for custom theming
    • AT&T logo removed
    • Wifi Notification removed
    • Google Now
    • S-Voice
    • Multiwindow
    • Google Keyboard
    • Multi-language support
    • AllianceRom Boot Animation
    • Increased group messaging size
    • Increased MMS size and quality
    • AT&T Contacts removed
    • System sounds from the Nexus 4
    • No increasing ringtone
    • SMS split removed, messages with multiple pages combined
    • Blacklisting
    • MMS slideshow removed so MMS appears threaded and individual
    • Multi SMS lock
    • Call block menu in settings
    • Popup Browser
    • Many other tweaks...

    Installation Instructions:
    1. You MUST have the UCUEMJB or UCUEMJ2 bootloader and the UCUEMJB modem installed before proceeding or this ROM will not work properly. Your data and wifi may be broken if you do not do this first. These are available here: Bootloader and Modem Options
    2. Download ROM to SD card
    3. Reboot into recovery (Must be the latest version)
    4. Do a factory reset
    5. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
    6. Wipe system
    7. Flash Rom (This process may take a minute or two)
    8. Wipe cache and dalvik cache again just to be safe
    9. Tap reboot
    10. In TWRP: Slide the slider to allow TWRP to fix SuperSU permissions (optional)

    Post Installation Instructions:
    • Upon first boot, SystemUI may force close due to modifications. Let the phone settle for a minute and reboot. You should not experience this again.
    • It is HIGHLY suggested that you keep ALL Google Now cards off, verify that you are not updating your location with Google Maps (in Maps settings menu). Remember, Google Now automatically turns on your location settings to update through Google Maps, so after enabling Google Now, unless you want your location on all the time, go to Google Maps and turn it off. Your battery will thank you even more.
    • If you get a Google account sign-in error after installing, there is an easy fix. Go to Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync. Please REMOVE your current Google account and then add it again. I do not know why this happens to some people, but it doesn't seem to be ROM related. It happens on several devices including the Nexus. Removing and then re-adding your account again fixes this problem

Theming will come later, but most of loserskaters real-time mods have been added so please make sure to head on over to all of his modification threads and thank him as well as enewman17. I have updated tweaks and we are good to go on the new base. Flash away and enjoy! Remember to read the OP as flashing instructions are new. Please make sure you check the MD5 for verification. SystemUI may crash upon first boot. That is normal. Simply reboot the phone and it should not occur again. Thanks for all your patience guys. This has taken me a long time, but I hope it is worth it. :)
