OTG

Hi everyone!

So does it support OTG or not? I'm trying to connect an PS3 controller to the phone, and nothing happens...
I read online and people were saying (December) that google removed OTG support on the device.

Perhaps OTG support could be re-implemented in the kernel. However, AFAIK the N4 is not capable of supplying +5V in OTG mode so you'd need it connected to a powered hub, which is why they removed it from the specs. I don't know if it would work unpowered at all, or if somehow the Slimport controller in the N4 kills OTG totally.

Can you not use Bluetooth to connect said controller?

Anyone know the driver for the proximity sensor? I want to disable it when I'm calling someone, and based on my research disabling the driver is the only way..

Optimus G is 1280*768, without any navigation bar (Soft Touch) ==> 15:9
Nexus 4 is 1280*(720+48), therefore 15:9 when navbar is removed (guess when watching movies / playing games), and "fake" 16:9 otherwise.

The aspect ratio is a hardware spec, and the screen dimensions are 15:9. You don't change the aspect ratio of a monitor because of the windows start bar do you?

Hopefully it'll make the N4s battery accessible. Or at least more fixable.

Guess we'll have to wait for the teardown.

No Need to wait for the teardown, check the FCC photos. Two small screws stand between you and a replaceable battery :D

Does it have FM radio support? I prefer to listen to local radio without having to use data. My Nexus one can do it but I don't know if the other nexus are able to, I hope this one does.

Google doesn't like FM and never includes an app.

The Nexus One is the only Nexus device ever released with the needed hardware, and FM chip antenna and audio pins hooked up. That's because it was a somewhat modifed HTC Desire (that had FM). A custom kernel was needed to enable the FM audio.

I peeked at the system dump and only see "vestigial" FM stuff in the audio config file under /etc/snd_soc_msm . This is common with other similar devices with no FM hardware support, so means little to nothing.

I'm hoping to see that the LG Optimus G has variants that can support FM. It's possible the Nexus 4 will have hidden but usable FM hardware.

If the BT/WiFi/FM WCN3660/3680 combination chip has the FM antenna pin(s) connected somewhere useful, such as to the wired headset jack, then software likely should be able to enable it, but a custom kernel at least may be needed.

AFAICT, FM "antenna pin(s)" for this chip means that one pin is for a receive antenna. 2 pins are supposed to be able to support FM transmit, but don't hold your breath on that; almost no Android device transmits FM. We'll be lucky if the FM Rx pin is usable.
