Hi,

I installed one of GuruReset roms to my htc one, Software number is 3.63.707.3 I bought this phone from turkey and i found that rom as compatible to my device. After i installed rom, i got a software update warning and started to download but when it starts to install, i got 'Variant System Version'. The device info is down below.

**TAMPERED**
**UNLOCKED**
security S-ON
HTC__J15
HBOOT 1.55.0000
RADIO 4A.21.3263.04
OS 3.63.401.3

When i try to update firmware in RUU mode, i got CID warning end it aborts setup. I thought my rom is incompatible. So i need help in this situation.

Thanks

the variant error shows up when your OS in the bootloader and Software number inside the ROM doesnt match, you need to find a compatible ROM, the ROM you are using (3.63.707.3) is for India/Asia with cid HTC__038 and HTC__044 and MIDs PN0711000 and PN0714000 respectively, what's your Model ID? can you post the results of "fastboot getvar all" excluding your Serial No. and IMEI? if you can tell me your Model ID i can suggest the compatible stock ROM reset or RUU for your phone

It's probably PN0711000 (m7_u not ul)

PN0710000 = M7_UL
PN0711000 = M7_U

HTC__J15 is Middle East CID, and both models are available (U and UL), but he got it in Turkey, and has OS 3.63.401.3 which I think is the U model

i dont know much about the Middle Eastern variants, maybe you can guide him better once he posts the result of "fastboot getvar all" :)

can you gain s off using Rumrunner? because i cant find a stock Reset Guru Rom that matches your Model ID and CID, but there is an RUU for PN0711000 and HTC__J15 , it downgrades the OS so it requires s off , @nkk71 what do you think, man?
1- Haven't seen any guru resets like that for that

2- why bother? if he goes s-off, he can flash whatever he likes

3- it's always nice when someone actually says what they intend to do and why... custom rom, stock rom, rooted, non-rooted etc etc etc

At first, I dont want to s-off, want to return stock rom and get original OTA updates. But at the end, i went s-off and installed custom rom. However, if i find a solution. Try to s-on again, relock and want to use original rom.

@alray is your man, he has a collection of RUUs including for M7_U I believe

EDIT: ah here it is: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=3053944

Found a compatible RUU from the thread you gave. But couldn't flash the RUU zip, always got different errors.

Got sick of this after 11 hours of research and stuff. I've just SOFF'd my M7 with Sunshine, revert back to 1.29 (Sense 5 and 4.1.2 :D ) now installing all the firmwares one by one.

Thanks for your help mate.

Thanks for your help mate.

did you relock bootloader and use the htc_fastboot.exe? then it should have worked just fine.

anyway, S-OFF is a much better thing to have imho, and since you're S-OFF you could consider changing the modelid to PN0710000; obviously it wont give you LTE (since the hardware is missing), but would allow you to get the "regular" .401. OTAs

but guess you wont need to worry about that for the time being, since PN0711000 is also on new version now.
