LCD Density

I've tried updating LCD Density on the latest nightly, and the phone apk crashes on me.

This worked on CM7.

Any chance for a fix in CM9?

I want to keep this Rom but I need to format my SD card. Its just full of years of flashing. Is there important files on the SD card I need for this rom? I'm not worried about apps.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA

I did this recently.
Assuming you mean your phones internal sd?
You will need to reinstall the rom after you clean it up, so make sure you have the rom image/gapps etc. on your external microSD before you do this.
Go to recovery, mounts and storage. Format sdcard (not emmc), and while you are there you should format system, cache, data. Then do a factory wipe before reinstalling the rom.
This will give you a shiny clean internal sd with only the rom files from whatever nightly you prefer.
Hope this helps.

what am I missing?

I'd try the mute/unmute fix. I also experienced this on recent cm9 builds, even though this patch is supposed to be baked in. fixed things for me after flashing the v1.1 in recovery:

The fix should be in CM9 already. The flashable fix is just the libaudio.so from a CM9 nightly. Additionally, are you talking about that the handset audio is bugged, or the headset audio?

I had tunnel voice on the latest nightly just using the normal handset. The mute / unmute patch fixed it. That's all I know.
Besides, I'm back on froyo (fishman) as I just couldn't live without gps, and the other stuff that was quirky. I need my phone to just work, not to be unpredictable. Bad for business! :)
Sitting on the sidelines until it's fixed, if it ever is.

Feh. Well, maybe it's just a nightly quirk. Can you try and older one like the 18th?

I might try at the weekend to see if the tunnel voice on that build is there, but having had rock solid gps for the last 24 hours and the multitude of apps that rely on it working as they should, I'm kinda happy for the moment.
GPS isn't about navigation as many people seem to justify its lack of functionality on - use a tomtom etc. I don't use gps on my phone for most of my driving, I travel a lot and the apps I use to help me find local business and services don't really work without solid gps (network location isn't the same). I hardware fixed my gps (soldering stuff) and am getting locks in the 12-20ft range now on froyo.
I'm sure you guys will figure it out soon, and I'll be back with bells on! ;)
Cheers FE!

How was GPS on CM9 with subZero? I still need to figure out what it is that that kernel has that we don't, with our kernel gpsd seems to be forking constantly, but not on subZero..

Was on AOKP for vibrant but the phone cannot seem to find the T-Mobile network thus I cannot make any calls. Will this be an issue with this rom? I'm on the KB5 radio...

On an earlier build I had good results using SZ, getting gps most of the time after deep sleep. Using the gps fix files I always had better reliability and speed of lock, but still on occasion it wouldn't wake up after deep sleep. But not all the time.
For sure SZ is the only kernel that has partially fixed the deep sleep.

I've lost connection to t-mobile recently as well. Had something to do with the sim-card. T-mo replaced the card, all is well now.

I had really good luck with all of the nightly builds using subzero #80. Rarely did GPS not work after deep sleep for me. I tried heart, kiss, glitch as well. None worked but subzero.

For me this turned out to be the headset, but it is fixable if you mute/unmute. Its annoying, but fixable. It happens once in a while after I replaced wired headset.
as for her, her jack is broken so it's impossible to use headsets. I'll d another test

EDIT: mute and unmute seems to work. it just concerns me because my mom will be using the vibrant once me and my sister upgraded to the galaxy s III and my mom is not really techie enough to mute and unmute

I recommend TeamWhiskey's NextGen V2 ROM.
Everything works.
It's Froyo, but it's Froyo done right.

    Please note that there may be intermittent emergency dialing issues and/or GPS/AGPS issues (including GPS daemon crashing, which does not restart) which could hinder location of you in an emergency.

    CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:
    #include <std/disclaimer.h>
    /*
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear
     * war, or the current economic crisis caused by you following these
     * directions. YOU are choosing to make these modificiations, and
     * if you point your finger at me for messing up your device, I will
     * laugh at you.
     */

    This thread is for the development of CyanogenMod 9 nightlies for the Samsung Vibrant (aka SGH-T959), the Galaxy S 4G / Vibrant 4G (SGH-T959V) is not supported here. Nightlies are built each night with the very latest code, for this reason, they are extremely experimental and should be avoided by beginners and people who have important responsibilities tied to the usage of their phone.

    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

    [font=Calibri, Arial]FAQ[/font]
    Q: I can't add my Google account!
    A: Install the Google Apps package from CWM recovery, linked above. This is standard procedure with CyanogenMod ROMs due to licensing issues with Google.

    Q: Can you enter service mode with *#*#197328640#*#* like CM7?
    A: Yes.

    Q: I keep getting "Installation Aborted" error 7
    A: Install the Glitch kernel and retry.

    Q: Where's the changelog?
    A: http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/#vibrantmtd/cm9/latest

    Q: When will the Linaro tweaks be merged?
    A: Don't know.

    The CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

    [font=Calibri,Arial]How to Build[/font]
    First initialize your build environment.

    Now follow the "installing repo" section in this guide:
    http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html

    Now downloading CyanogenMod source:
    Code:
    mkdir ~/Desktop/CM9
    cd ~/Desktop/CM9
    repo init -u http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git
    repo sync -j24

    More setup:
    Code:
    . build/envsetup.sh
    breakfast cm_vibrantmtd-userdebug

    Getting proprietary files:
    You must have a copy of CM9 for the Vibrant running on your phone for this part.
    Code:
    ( cd device/samsung/vibrantmtd && ./extract-files.sh )

    Compiling:
    Code:
    mka bacon
    9
    911

    Ok so here is my 911 experience. I live in Denver by the way, and I just emailed the 911 operations manager about doing a test call. She said that is fine just please do it between 8:30 and 11:30 as that is their lowest call volume.

    So the first time I called it clicked, hung up and disabled my entire cell signal. No signal no data nothing. So I rebooted my phone, and google voice informed me I had 2 missed calls from the Denver PD. I tried again and it worked perfectly. I explained I was testing a piece of software, the woman was very friendly said that was no problem and they wouldn't send anyone out. She also confirmed that all the E911 info came up properly on her screen.

    So I'm not sure what to make of this exactly. One time it did nothing though at least my number got through. The other time it worked great. I mean the first time could have been a glitch entirely unrelated to CM. Hard to say. It leaves me ambigious though. If I have a real emergency I really don't want to wait for the phone to reboot!
