Hello. I was attempting to root my totally stock T-Mobile Note 2. It has already been updated to the latest TM update w/ LTE. One thing that is weird is that I'm able to get into the Download Mode (it says Downloading......etc), but it remains there and just remains unresponsive. With Odin running, I plugged it in and hear the normal USB-in beep, but Odin remains empty, never detecting the device (the phone connects fine as a usb drive for file transfers). I've been searching around and it seems like nobody has experienced this exact problem with their Note 2. If any member have an idea of what could be the problem, please let me know. I'm running Windows 8. Thanks.
*****Update:
Oops! I found out exactly what I did wrong. I tried it again on my Desktop running Windows 7. The USB driver installation failed, which hinted me on one thing I didn't do: I did not installed the Samsung Developer USB driver. After I installed the driver and reattempted the rooting, it worked like a charm. I will now start some testing with my rooted Note 2. Thanks so much.
Thank you, I'm having the exact same issue. Any chance you could post, where you found the exact drivers? (link?) Thanks!
Since this has the stock recovery, does it mean I can have SU and still be able to receive OTA updates ? (Just picking your brain and learning)
Somebody rooted through a modified kernel instead of a modified recovery, and as such was able to dump the stock recovery.
