I've been using Brick for about 2 wks now. I notice that it idles fine. No loss of battery over 8 hours of sleep. However, once I start using, it goes downhill from there (even if I put the tab back to sleep).

Anyway, I'm going to try Franco and see.

Hello,

I'm on 4.1.2 STOCK, stock Kernel, bootloader unlocked and rooted. No custom recovery.

Can I flash the ROM with "JROMFlasher" directly without problems?

regards!

Re: [ROM][Jan 13][4.2.1] SmoothROM v4.3-Smoothest ROM-Deodex-Zipalign-Tablet UI-Stabl

I seem to have lost root somehow and I have no idea how. I am running 4.3 with latest motley 246. I tried reinstalling the kernel with no luck. Tried reinstalling superSU with no luck. I have latest superSU and updated binary, could the update to superSU have made me lose root? Do I have to wipe everything and start from scratch or is there an easier way? I can't even backup my apps with TiBu since I don't have root... I had root yesterday and woke up this morning with no root, it makes no sense.

I think you should first flash the Android 4.2 Bootloader version 4.13

[Bootloader][Android 4.2] JOP40C Bootloader version 4.13 flashable in recovery

And then install a Custom Recovery like TWRP afterwards. It makes backup/restore easy peasy!

Can you boot into Custom Recovery like TWRP ?

If you can, try flashing the CWM/TWRP flashable version of SuperSU.

I was able to boot into twrp to flash motley kernel again but that didn't do anything. I was about to search for flashable version of SuperSU when I saw you linked to it. Thanks, I will try that.

Edit:
Unfortunately that didn't work.

Edit 2:
Maybe I will try wugfresh toolkit to root.

Edit 3:
WugFresh toolkit didn't work either.

I had that problem too. I have no idea why did I loose root access. Just flash your Rom again, don't need to wipe anything, just dirty flash, you'll get root access back without losing any data.
Edit: don't forget to flash gapps.

How about providing a log. Go to TWPR and save a recovery log to your SD card.

You mean you still have no root access after dirty flashing the ROM? That method worked for me though. Maybe changing the kernel helps. I was on motley but switched to M-kernel during the flash and now I get root back. Worth a try.

Yeah I tried to dirty flash the ROM, but I still do not have root access. I will try a different kernel.

Installed m-kernel a31 and finally got root back. Guess I will try m-kernel for a few days see how I like it. I know already that I like trickstermod more than system tuner. Thanks.

Glad to hear. I'm using tricksters too, lemme know if you find a settings that suits bests for m-kernel. I'm experiencing some lag with my browser every now and then and that's driving me nuts.

Wait, you also use trickstermod? I was messing with it too before I lost root access. Could it be that this bastard is the reason why we both lost root access?

I lost root tonight as well, seemed to happen after I updated superSU. I know there was a problem with dumpstate appearing in superSU yesterday, hence the update. Maybe Chainfire needs to look at it again.

For all who suddenly lost root!!

DON'T reinstall anything! It's not necessary!

It's a problem with the new SuperSU version:

Just untick "Respect CM root settings" in the SuperSU settings section! Voila, all back to normal again!

    Installation

If CWM ask you to 'Disable Recovery Flash' after install, select no ! It will remove the files needed for the init.d support.

Please do not restore a 'system' data backup as it would overwritte some important files

    Easy Way

    • Use JROMFlasher (Click here) to wipe your data, flash custom recovery, upload my ROM

    Hard Way

    • Require Custom Recovery
    • Copy the ROM to the root of your SDCard (/sdcard).
      - You can copy/paste it from Windows Explorer.
      - You can download the ROM from your device. It will be generally located in /sdcard/downloads
      - You can use ADB : 'adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/' for Windows and Mac/Linux : './adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/'
    • Boot into Recovery
    • Wipe all cache and userdata
    • Flash the ROM from custom Recovery
