[Q] how to root my phone?

Hi to all.
I have this phone :
Hardware : MT6577 (UNIVERSAL5410 is Fake!)
Model : Galaxy-S4
Build number : ALPS.ICS2.MP.V1.3
Build date UTC : 20130920-121316
Android v : 4.2.2
Baseband v: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V7.P3, 2013/04/11 12:04
Kernel v : 3.0.13 (root@lyc-desktop) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #2 SMP Sat Sep 21 21:55:36 CST 2013
IMEI 1 - 355236030920772
IMEI 2 - 353627052923508

the home button doesn't work. I want to install the "SoftKey Enabler" but it need a root access.

I tried this Guide : http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=645253 , but stuck in step 3. when i open Universal Androot v1.6.1 got the message "failed ! No~~~Fu goo". i tried all the options didn't work.

can anyone tell me how can I root my phone?

Try to flash this file using your phone's recovery mode -> apply update from SD card.

You'll need a rooting toolkit. There are many around the net. Here's one that may be compatible with your device:

Note that this one is from a Chinese programmer, so it installs a chinese superuser on your phone, but you can download the english one from the play store.

hi.
i didn't root it yet. i need to backup my data & everything.
I have few questions:
1. it can arm my cellphone?
2. this guide is about Xperia Z1 phone it is good for me also? (samsung galaxy s4 )?
3. I looked in the website there are a lot of roms there (Samsung galaxy s4). do you know which one for me? if there is?

thank you for your help. but now i have another problem. I'm using a "eclipse" to write app codes & my computer stop to recognize my device since i root it.

is there something that i can do? (i don't want to restore to factory default).

Did try different port on your pc, I know sounds simple but sometimes chaning the port trying different usb cord helps

Try uninstall reinstall driver for your phone

Try reinstalling the phone's drivers, then delete everything related to them in registry or anywhere else on the computer, then make a clean install of them.

P.s. Yes, the rooting toolkit I recommended you works for many phones and manufacturers, not just e.g. the xperia z1 or our device. And sorry for the late answer. Just saw the thread here.

try to root my phone with vroot 1.7.5 didn't help.
i don't understand Chinese but i saw red mark.

I would suggest that if you manage to root your phone, immediately do a nandroid backup, because with these clones you never know...
