[ROM][FC09][BML][MTD] The People's ROM v2.22 with fixed 15 toggle mod 1/4/13

Search This thread
No Snark intended..but you need to search the entire thread, that meaning the "Epic 4g Android Development" thread, not just this rom's thread. I can tell you that I remember reading several answers that could help you, where they are, I don't recall...however, have you seen this one? http://turbulentsky.com/samsung-epic-4g-battery-life-fixing-excessive-battery-consumption.html

or this??? http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=770872

also, I know that Kenny and a couple others have posted info about voltage control in this very thread, there are even some screen shots of voltage control in here, probably 15 or so pages back if I recall correctly.
Honestly, I may have seen them before, but I did not have a problem with battery life on the previous ROM, therefore - I did only search this forum...everyone seemed to praise the battery life here.

As mentioned, I had some strange issue with the VC, so that confused me a bit. But I was able to download it again and set it the way Kenny previously mentioned, and hopefully it do the trick. If it doesn't, I will try to move on to other possible cures.

Forgive me for being so defensive, I just work in an environment where "tone" is important and am really particular about the way one's "voice" is conveyed via an electronic venue.

Thanks for all of the help.

Thanks Kenny I was just going back through the posts trying to quote all the battery tips, voltage control set ups to place then on a reply but got side track. I don't like to see TPR users frustrated because this is such a great ROM.
@Capricorn27; do not get upset. As Kenny said we are all friends and we will help you, and yes some of us, I would say most have a sarcastic sense of humor here but we do it in good fun not to insult or put down anyone. These guys here on TPR are a great bunch and they will do everything to get you going in the right direction. Back on Page 205 I gave you basic guide on voltage control, was that not helpfull?

YAll know what, rooted or not PR of CLEAN GB or another rom no matter what kernel I have some days my battery lasts all day sometimes it lasts half a day and sometimes I need to charge it three to five times a day depends on the day, weather, what I do, or what mood the phone is in :)
Usually I have auto sync off at work I leave data off unless I need to use it for something, wifi is off at work cause theres no wife I can connect to at the schools.
Sound is sound only no vibrate, brightness is at auto and auto rotation is off, I use the drop down in Peoples rom to access all the stuff and that alone helps my battery a lot, PLUS I cal my battery once a week.

Oh and I usually try to keep the lock screen off too
theres other tweaks I use, but I actually have to look inside to see them LOL

Yeah my TWS heavily affects my battery life. I can get 3 days at home on wifi and 4 hours display time, TWS 0%. I get out on 3G and 20% TWS and I am at 30% at the end of the day and 2 1/2 hours display. So signal plays a heavy role. You can watch your percentage drop while that spinny circle spins.

And the big battery eater isn't vc. It is how often your phone wakes up to check each email account. Your twitter, facebook, google+, any thing that has an auto refresh. Those should always be set to the longest time that works for you. Or even off and you can check.

have you ever played "hide the glow stick"?

man, i guessed 15 or pages back, and it was 18...not bad for memory...;)

Um..not upset at all. I really appreciate all of the assitance, more than you know. I tried the voltage control thingy...not working yet. I did however see another post with "performance tips" that I plan to try today. Hopefully, that will work. I learned long ago to pay attention to the apps that are running, what accts are linked, I.e. emails, etc. I am probably one of the few people in the world that does not "FB" or "Twit" so those apps are not even on the phone. Additionally, I learned early (from reading) what to do about those DRM thingamajigs with my TB.

Again, love the ROM and appreciate all of the help, I will continue to read to troubleshoot and try to find some resolution so that I can continue to use it.

Last thought, I use a couple of apps, big apps, I.e. Hulu+, Weight Watchers, Goodreads, HBO, etc, while I do not leaving them running, is it possible that they drain the battery quickly? And finally, what about the "hotspot?" I commute to DC everyday, so I work on my laptop a lot while commuting.

Again, thanks so much for the help.

obviously, they will "drain" when using them...but isn't that what battery is for (use of the phone?:))

I'd refer back to Flastnoles recommendation to look at better battery stats, this app will help you answer all those questions (about apps running, etc) as well as wakelocks etc, etc...

FC09 w/ Shadow Kernel 2.0 also locked up

I have had the same issues like you had while running 2.2. I then flashed 2.1(FC19) and haven't had a single lockup since. I came from CleanGB EL30 and went straight to TPR 2.2. When I flashed 2.1 I actually flashed 2.0 first immediately followed by 2.1 as suggested by some users in this forum. I will try 2.2 again later but will load the Shadow kernel instead of Samurai kernel to see if it fixes it. Been using 2.1/FC19 for two days and am happy with it so far.

(The reason for my upgrade from CleanGB to FC19 was to get rid of the annoying software upgrade pop-up message from Sprint.)

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA

After trying TPR 2.1 (FC19) for a week with no issue, I went back to FC09 with the Shadow Kernel this time. However, within a day it locked up four times on me; 1st time while sliding out the keyboard, 2nd time was enabling the camera, 3rd time I was just simply rotating the screen to landscape, and th3 4th time was when I try to answer a call. They were not repeatable. I/O was set to NOOP, Governor to ondemand. No OC or UV; pretty plain vanilla setup. I restored back to 2.1(FC19) because I needed the phone to be functional. Too bad 2.2 didn't work out for me, but am happy with 2.1 :)

And the only difference is FC19 vs FC09 (meaning no optimizer) and shadowkernel vs. Samurai. No different tweaks were used. I am glad one of the ROMs works for you.

Yes the Hotspot will drain the battery very quickly especially if signal is low in some areas.

Thanks Kenny. The second time I tried 2.2 I had the Sprint Optimizer turned off but it still locked up. I also tried two different kernels (Samurai & Shadow) but they didn't appear to make any difference here. I wish I have another Epic to try though :). Anyway TPR 2.1 rocks for me, very snappy and the battery life is very good.

I've had times when my phone said 1g instead of 3g, but only in places where I have little to no signal so I'd have to say nope. Unless I'm missing something really important ( which I have done before) LOL

    The People's ROM V2.1 FC19!

    TEAM BRING IT

    Proudly presents

    THE PEOPLE'S ROM V2.1 FC19!!!

Don't forget to flash the FC19 bloat files for all stock apps!

Thanks to Darkierawr for the push-pull!
He pulled the FC19 system and pushed me to release it..LOL. I will post the odexed stock versions he sent me in another thread this weekend.

It is highly recommended to flash this from V2.0 because something wierd happens on 20% of the flashes, the home key doesn't work without this fix.

The first thing noticeable is the Sprint Connectons Optimizer is removed by Samsung.
I themed this with the lessbluebox version, changed the bootani, changed the wallpaper, put in all the mods we all love, added the silent camera without the low battery shutoff and Gtalk with video.
All the stock apps (bloat) have been pulled and put into a flashable.
This has everything else that 2.0 has with the same thanks to all those Devs.

You MUST wipe cache and Dalvik or bad things happen (drove me crazy).
The BML issues are fixed, Boot to recovery works and bootanimation can be seen.

Here is the FC19 modem bin to be flashed in Odin: http://d-h.st/eU1

For anyone with battery issues please change i/o scheduler to anything besides cfq. Cfq does sleep but not as well as the other governors do on some phones. You also might want to wipe your battery stats with cwm (I know it has been stated this is a bad thing to do, but it has cured battery issues for me) and also pinpoint what is eating your battery up... I have been running the bml version on my epic for 6 hours and it has only dropped 9% with minimal use.
