Well a backup isn't technically "required", but just recommended.

But the reason I ask about wiping is because the instructions are a little lacking. This ROM is fairly stock, with (as far as I can tell) just some modified system APKs, modified framework and other tweaks - none of which would indicate that a full system wipe is required. So it might be possible to just install on top of stock and wipe cache/dalvik without wiping everything. I'm not sure if the OP meant you needed to wipe if coming from other (ie: non-stock) ROMs or anything including stock.

The quote come from the MoDaCo website and you will find it in the OP.
And about the backup, indeed it's just recommended but not required, but how many users come by crying that they have not made a backup.
That is why I always specifies to do a backup before.

Workaround for now: enable call forwarding before moving the SIM to the tablet. Either to another line you can answer, or a virtual number you can access with Skype, txtplus, Talkatone etc.

Thanks for clarifying!

I'll flash this later tonight. Any chance you can get the phone enabled in the framework soon? I know it won't work (yet) on the carrier side, but that enabled SIP calling through the native dialer.

The bundled Flash Player did not appear to be functional for me in stock Browser. However I found an apk download on the Xoom section of XDA, and that one worked.

Stock Browser does not appear to have bookmark sync working the way it does on GNex 4.2.

Great thanks!

Also: I noticed when I paired my GNex and N7 by Bluetooth, on the N7 I could see an option to use the GNex for Internet access. However even with BT tethering enabled on the N7, I could not see on the GNex an option to use the N7 for Internet access. Is there anything in this ROM that can be tweaked to present itself over BT for tethering, or does this also require the GNex to be tweaked?

FINALLY!!!! A rom for us 3G guys/gals!!!! THANK YOU! I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread for a few days to check progress. I'm rooted & stock now but can't wait to have tweaks in my N7! I'm so spoiled having a Galaxy Nexus!

Nice and performant ROM.

I noticed that my WiFi connection drops with this ROM and goes to Cellular.
Didnt happened with stock JB 4.2.

Anyone else?

I was just going to say the same thing. My WiFi doesn't drop out either.. Check your AP and broadcast channels and or signal to noise ratio.. Try WiFi Analyzer it maybe be of help to you on this..

Not sure if it's offtopic here, but I'm curious weather it's possible to use the 4.1.2 BT Drivers in a 4.2 ROM.
The BT Drivers in 4.2 have been reported to be buggy, and do not work with the PS3 pad / Sixxaxis App.
I was so looking forward to play my old NES Games on the N7 :)

One comment regarding the inclusion of the legacy play store. It would seem that often my update notifications come from the legacy store instead of the proper store. If I open up the regular store after the legacy store has opened on the notification, and I attempt to update the app in the regular store, it crashes out of the store and tells me using a toast notification that the app is not installed.

Just got a notification of a ROM update - I'm assuming to 4.2.1. Will that be integrated into this ROM? I assume it's not safe to update from google directly with that updater - right?

    I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom Jelly Bean ROM for the 3G Nexus 7! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know. ;)

    About MoDaCo Custom ROMs

    MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs. A MCR release is designed to feel like a stock ROM with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.

    Requirements

    In order to use this ROM you must have a custom recovery installed. The ROM is installed at your own risk. A wipe IS recommended if coming from a ROM other than MCR or stock. BACK UP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION!

    MCR Nexus ROM features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:
    • Based on the 4.2.2 / JDQ39 release, updated, rebuilt, compressed and optimised with the MCR build system.
      For this MCR we've used the latest available shipping ROM, updated with all the latest versions of the installed apps, which we've run through our scripts to ensure that it is as optimised as possible both for install / download size and real life performance.

    • De-odexed... re-odexable.
      Our ROMs are de-odedex, giving you the ability to flash other mods over the top, tweak the system and generally get the system set up as you want it without worrying about odex issues.       Jelly Bean added a feature to disable apps on boot that aren't intended for your region (Wallet, Ears, Magazines etc.). I think we're smart enough to make that decision ourselves right? So that doesn't happen in a MCR.

    • Alternative UI options (clickable when hidden menu keys with alternate locations, search button)
      A number of different UI options are included - the default option makes the legacy menu button available on both sides of the screen for easy reach and also keeps them active when invisible, handy if there's a pesky menu button at the top right that you can't quite get too! You can also bring back the good old search button. In stock Android the navigation bar always stays at the bottom - in the kitchen you can choose to have this move to the right. Finally, percentage battery meters are also included in stock style and round style.

    • NFC on screen off
      If you use NFC tags to set profiles or similar, then the option to enable NFC on screen off might appeal to you. Be aware that we haven't benchmarked the impact this may have on battery life as yet though!

    Installation

    To install this ROM:
    • Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your sdcard.
    • Restart your device in recovery mode
    • PERFORM A BACKUP FROM THE MENU
    • Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to the internal sd card! Remember that due to the 4.2 user changes, you may need to change to the '0' directory in recovery to find the zip!
    If you have problems with Market licencing, check your device date!

    First boot may take a while - be patient while it carries out it's pre-dexopt. It's worth it! :D

    Jr5 is now available in the kitchen! As usual, after a short period of testing both by myself and kitchen users it'll be available as prebake! :)

    This is mostly an app update / fix + tweak release. The 'gradient fix' is now also included in all bakes, if you spot any remaining bad gradients please report to the elite 'G-Squad' by posting in this topic and it'll get fixed. :p

    Hope everyone had a good Christmas and Happy New Year - thanks for your support in 2012... looking forward to 2013! :)
