Disable e: Signature verification on samsung vibrant

Guys,

I have resolved this many many times... Just follow these steps -

Pre-requisite - Enable USB debugging on your phone and connect it to your pc.

1. Root your phone using SuperOneClickv1.6.5-ShortFuse. You can get it at 'http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=803682'

2. Go to this thread and download the two files 'http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=833423' - '3e_recovery_installer.zip' and 'update.zip (1.34 mb)'

2. Run install.bat from 3e_recovery_installer folder to rectify the the recovery signature checking.

3. Keep the just downloaded update.zip (1.34 mb) in your internal sdcard and boot under recovery. Select reinstall package option. Update.zip will get installed and phone will reboot.

Its not done yet.

4. Now get the actual clockwork mod recovery update.zip (1.72 mb). You can get this using ROM manager. Now put this update.zip (1.72 mb) in your internal sdcard and boot under recovery. Select reinstall package option. Update.zip will get installed and phone will reboot and will be back in samsung recovery mode. Select reinstall package again and bang... You should now be at cwm recovery :)

Did this help?

It's not working with my Samsung Vibrant:

Model SGH-T959
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband version T959UVKB5
Kernal version 2.6.32.9
Build number FROYO.UVKB5

I followed all the procedure, step by step, but, when I was running the install.bat from 3e_recovery_installer, I received this error:

Getting temporary root.
> Starting adb server: Success
Checking for temporary root.
Installing rageagainstthecage.
> Uploading rageagainstthecage: Fail

temp root failed! install cannot continue.

1......Try again (may crash)
2......Reboot and try again (recomended)
3......Quit

what do you want to do:?

I tryed the number 1 and number 2 options and the results were the same.

Does someone can help me?

Thanks,

Fabio.

Vibrant stock Froyo has a recovery that checks signatures. Either Odin back to a pre-Froyo rom that has the old style recovery, or replace your recovery with a modded version - somewhere in the development forum is a thread on how to do it.

Just another reason to flash to stock Eclair between roms, IMHO.

Thank you for the steps that have been posted. I have the same signature verification problem along with a broken USB port. Is there a way to accomplish this without a functioning USB port.

I have the same issue, however, when I run the file "install.bat" from 3e_recovery_installer folder, I get the following error:

Installing modified recovery
rm failed for /system/bin/recovery, No such file or directory
failed to copy 'C:\User\HomeDesktop\xxx\xxx' to '/system/bin/recovery': No space left on device'
Unable to chmod /system/bin/recovery: No such file or directory

I checked how much internal memory I have left on my phone and it says I have 115mb left. I also have 95% of my apps installed on my sd card as well, so I'm not sure what's going on?

I have a Galaxy S Captivate that I rooted, then FROYO unrooted it. When I tried to root again I got the signature verification error. Your instructions worked flawlessly and I rooted my phone using Super One Click - the whole process took less than 5 minutes.

Thanks!!!

If your on stock Froyo you need to Odin back to Stock JFD.

If you are on stock JFD you need to click reinstall packages to install the update.zip file, it reboots into same screen and click reinstall packages again. Then it will boot into recovery.

Yes. Go ahead and follow those instructions and you'll be on Eclair. Then proceed on after that with your update.zip

If you have questions beyond that, feel free to ask.

Nothing seems to be happening. I click start after selecting the PIT and PDA files in Odin, then in the message window I see "<OSM> All threads completed (succeed 0/ failed 0)" almost instantly. Nothing else happens.

---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:27 PM ----------

Actually, I got it to go, but it failed this time. "Re-Partition operation failed." What now?

---------- Post added at 08:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:38 PM ----------

Thought I'd bricked it. I couldn't get it to do anything so I disconnected it and did a battery pull to get out of download mode. There was an icon that looks like a phone and a PC with a connection to it but it wouldn't boot up. I reconnected and tried Odin again and it worked. Whew.

Sorry to go all n00b on you. I've jailbroken an iPhone before but this is my first attempt to root an Android phone.

Super one click worked for me

Its a normal occurrence after upgrading through Kies to 2.2. The 3e recovery always used to work for me regarding the signature verification error. Accept the last time I tried it about a week ago it coukdnt get it to work for whatever reason.

So what I did was use odin & revert back to 2.1. Then root using one click root. Then just flash a 2.2 rom in clock work, Bionix for example. Then you will on 2.2. You will have no problem with the signature verification this way. Gluk

    dissable signature verification

DISABLE E: SIGNATURE VERIFICATION ON SAMSUNG VIBRANT

Here goes steps to install this modified 3e Recovery:
    PREREQUISITE

Working USB connection between your Vibrant and computer. You may setup ADB or install Kies on your computer.
    INSTRUCTIONS

Disclaimer: Proceed at your own risk. We are not responsible if your device gets bricked or damaged during the process.

    1. Download Modified Recovery 3e for Vibrant on to your computer and extract it’s content.

    2. Put your Samsung Vibrant into “USB Debugging Mode”. To do it, go to “Applications”—> “Settings” –> “Applications” –> “Development” –> and check the box “USB debugging”.

    3. Connect the Vibrant to computer via USB cable.

    4. Run the “install.bat” file located in the extracted content.

    5. Wait till the process completes.

That’s it. Your Vibrant should now have modified 3e Recovery that disables signature verification. You may now root the Samsung Vibrant or install ClockworkMod Recovery on it.

now try rooting with one click or manual
