Sony ericsson just released 4.0.2.A.0.62 update, you can find it here:

but where can i find the .ftf files??

Xperia blog says the firmware is targeted for users in Middle East North Africa region. It contains minor bug fixes. If you do download, just be aware that you won’t be able to root using the zergRush method. The only way around this is by installing the old 4.0.2.A.0.42 stock kernel for users with locked bootloader

Is there any other workaround for rooting?

if we install this firmware and our bootloader is unlocked through S1 tool. Will it maintain its unlock status?

You can create ftf files using flashtool. Dowload the zip file by aire, in flashtool click advance and create bundle. Locate the folder where you extracted the zip

Thanks, works great with doom kernel and is very stable.
Flashed with flashtool 0.2.9 and rooted with doom

Is there a newer mirror to download the .62 firmware? Megaupload is down and I am unable to understand the russian page (translators dont work) - though it looks like it is not working.

I don't know what you see from your IP but at narod.ru you need only enter visible digits into text field below it and press green button. after that you get a direct link as

just click it (not here! ). note I recommend uncheck a checkbox under link (it offers to install plugin for yandex searching system, not need for you).

ps. It is much more difficult to download files from the Chinese fileshares!
