If you followed the easy install guide then you want to follow this this post

Please see THIS THREAD before doing this procedure, you might be able to avoid using the HTC unlock.

WARNING: This procedure applies to flyers (not View) only and should be used only if you get the following message when trying to downgrade:

"Main Version is older! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot"

If you upgraded to HoneyComb using the Official OTA perform these steps, otherwise skip to section "Downgrade" below
  1. Perform a HTC unlock using the HTC unlock website
  2. Download this recovery download MD5: bb366b025dcc454ffe8b21b8bf0c72d0
  3. Download superuser from here
  4. Copy the su zip file to the root of your external SD card.
  5. Boot the flyer to fastboot mode
  6. Flash recover
    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  7. Reboot to recovery and install the su zip file.
  8. Reboot to android
  9. Proceed with the downgradre procedure below.

Downgrade
  1. First download the RUU for your device from this thread.

If there is no RUU for your region/operator, download one of the unbranded ones and create a goldcard

If you don't know which RUU to use see post #2.

  2. Download misc_version_universal.zip and extract the misc_version file from it.

  3. If you don't have adb and fastboot on your PC
    • Get fastboot and adb tool for windows here

    • Get Fastboot and adb for linux here

  4. check the version number for your RUU
In my example I am using this RUU: RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.00.405.3_R_Radio_20.3501.30.08 9BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_194964_signed.exe
The version is the part highlighted in red.

  5. Boot your flyer up to android if it's not already on, with usb debugging enabled and connect it to the PC.

  6. Run the following command:
    Code:
    adb push misc_version /data/local/misc_version
  7. Run the following commands:
    Code:
    adb shell
$ su (make sure your screen is unlocked so you see a toaster notification if it appears)
    # chmod 777 /data/local/misc_version
    # /data/local/misc_version -s [COLOR="Red"]2.00.405.3[/COLOR]

Note that the number in RED is the version number retrieved in step 4.
You will see a message about backing up and writing misc partition

  8. Reboot to fastboot:
    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader

    [*]Relock the bootloader:
    Code:
    fastboot oem lock

  9. Run your RUU

If you have correctly completed the process you will no longer get the "Main Version is older! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot" message and you will be able to downgrade to GingerBread.

Note: By choosing an appropriate value for the version it is also possible to return to a specific operator ROM if you have previously upgraded with a goldcard and you have a suitable original RUU. If using the procedure for a downgrade within gingerbread you must first root the flyer and skip step 8. For example you can downgrade from a WWE RUU to an O2 RUU.

Special Thanks
Alastor_ru for testing this procedure for me.

I am still getting stuck somewhere with the downgrade from HC to GB. I am S-off with revolutionary recovery.
I followed post 3 in the Easy Install post as mentioned here
I copied my GB RUU into the fastboot directory and got to this

fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU

but after 12 minutes of it sitting in the black screen with the HTC on it, and no progress bar, I tried the flash PG41IMG-WIFI.zip command. and that gave me an error of unknown partition, cannot determine image filename. Do I need to rename that as well to PG41IMG.ZIP to make that work?

Also do I need to copy in the full name of my RUU or rename it in my fastboot folder to RUU.exe? I didn't know if that oem rebootRUU command would just do the RUU in the folder regardless of the name.

Thanks!
(trying not to crap out my flyer!)

run the commands *excatly* as written with *exactly* the files specified. You can't do a pick and mix from different procedures.

You're not even in the right thread if you're posting in this one.

First line of this thread takes me to post 3 of your easy install HC method which is what I followed to try and downgrade again. Probably should have posted this question there?
I copied and pasted the commands into my command prompt with my GB Ruu and that wifi zip file in my fastboot folder.
How long does our take to run that Ruu before I need to run the Ruu.

Thanks

There is no waiting between commands, when you can run a command at the command line you do. The error about the partition you saw was becasue you didn't enter the command correctly.

I did downgrade without locking my bootloader... I'ts booting now... for 5 mins... still the HTC logo? I'm stuck. How do i lock the bootloader? In adb it says device not found :(

EDIT: I think i can solve it now... i hope so. Awww didnt fix it :(

You can only boot to fastboot mode until you have run the RUU to complete the S-ON procedure.

Boot to fastboot mode and then run the appropriate RUU and you should be good.

My CID:

RUU_Flyer_hTC_Asia_WWE_X.XX.707.X

whr shld i type it...when am in bootloader and i click fastboot ...there is no change..

dunno whr to type the command...
  1. Boot the phone to fastboot mode
  2. Run the following command:
    Code:
    fastboot getvar cid

This will return the CID of your device. Find the appropriate RUU from this list:
The Xs that appear indicate that these numbers are not important for RUU selection, only the numbers which are not Xs are important.

Boot to fastboot mode and then run the appropriate RUU and you should be good.

I have the same issue than in post 211 so will try with fastboot but I have an intermediate problem: it looks like the flyer is not charging anymore (orange light blinking) and altouhg I could go in bootloader or fastboot mode, I cannot anymore.
Any idea?

Thanks

I'm afraid I have to join the recent chorus of those in need of help.

I followed the instructions in "Downgrade" of Post #1. (It seemed to be the right one as I looked at the options.)

After the RUU installation, my Flyer (US Best Buy WiFi model) is stuck at the white screen with HTC. I shut it off, boot into hboot, and all the options but Fastboot take me back to the white screen with HTC. I ran the RUU a second time, and still no dice.

I used the Brightstar 2.27.1540.31 RUU. I've poked around and hoped to be able to figure this out, but alas, I cannot.

My ultimate goal is to install this: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=25247476#post25247476 but I need back to GB from HC first.

Thanks, folks! Any and all help is much appreciated.

    For Linux users

    1. Download the following file: unruu MD5=b8708edcce49b195e2d6d595ded77c40

    2. Navigate to where you downloaded the file and run the following commands:

      Code:
      sudo cp unruu /usr/bin
      chown root:root /usr/bin/unruu
      sudo chmod 755 /usr/bin/unruu
    3. Download the appropriate RUU for your device.

    4. Extract the rom.zip from the RUU by running the following command

      Code:
      unruu -k <ruu file name>

      For example:
      Code:
      unruu -k RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_Wifi_1.36.1114.32_Radio_20.3501.30.089BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_191235_signed.exe

    5. Run the RUU as follows:
      Code:
      sudo adb reboot bootloader
      sudo fastboot oem lock
      sudo fastboot erase cache
      sudo fastboot oem rebootRUU
      sudo fastboot flash zip rom.zip

    For mac Users

    1. Unfortunately I don't currently have a build environment on which to build the unruu command, however Mac are a small use case so I have provided the most common RUUs as zip file downloads:

      RUU_Flyer_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.36.1540.32_R_Radio_20.3501.30.089BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_191425_signed.zip
      RUU_Flyer_BrightstarUS_WWE_2.27.1540.31_R_Radio_20.3504.30.089BU_3809.07.04.06_M_release_204116_signed.zip
      RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_1.36.405.3.zip
      RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.23.405.3.zip
    2. Run the RUU as follows:
      Code:
      sudo adb reboot bootloader
      sudo fastboot oem lock
      sudo fastboot erase cache
      sudo fastboot oem rebootRUU
sudo fastboot flash zip <rom file name.zip>
    3. If the RUU you need is not in this list, please request it or boot to windows/linux and extract the rom.zip
    4
Nice. I opted to guinea pig for globatron yesterday but being a Mac user required repackaging the exe. If someone can recommend a MAC RUU client/port/app...that would be great help.

    Zip versions:
    http://www.multiupload.com/NBJMHJFLAB RUU_Flyer_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.36.1540.32
    http://www.multiupload.com/O5ZLYG7NKN RUU_Flyer_BrightstarUS_WWE_2.27.1540.31

I didn't bother with md5's because the RUU will check the signatures anyway.

    Code:
    fastboot oem lock
    fastboot erase cache
    fastboot oem rebootRUU
    fastboot flash zip <rom-name.zip>
