I managed to soft brick my SGS many months ago too...(the one I'm typing on right now)
I'm guessing that if you can't get in to recovery any more, like my one, then your best option is to follow the guide on the Darkyy post and flash again via Odin. You might have to select the "repartition" option which will wipe your phone, but at least it will be resurrected! :D

Hope you rescue your poor phone!

Good luck

You don't have to, there is a fix in the Troubleshooting section of the ICS Samsung Updates site :).
It's a FixRecovery.tar file.

Fixed my sudden Wifi issues on RC4.1 by flashing the stock kernel from 4.2. Lost my NStools settings but everything else works perfectly again. Is there anything this rom cant do :O

Tnx 2 DEV's as always

Experiences RC4.2

Hi all

After using the RC4.2 since it has been released I only had the following issues (for most there is a solution):
- IMEI not working in Britain due to IMEI check providers; France OK; Spain also; the solution is a bit complicated.
- multiple songs in player after restarting/reconnect USB
- sudden battery drain (45 degree slope going down in battery details )
- after coming from 4.1 to 4.2 upgrade Youtube failed; directly from 4.2 no problem
- starting the camera is a bit slow, specially when taking a picture from a contact but he this is not a dual or quad core :)
- Wifi/bluetooth/etc working; 3g sometimes a bit sucking up battery life. Sometimes 1/2 a day and no issue, sometimes 1 hour and same battery usage 1/2 a day so better switch of when not using.
- I tried the KB3 and JF1 radios and in fact battery life got worse so I returned back to the default JVU.

Most of it is known. In general a very nice ROM a bit slow on opening apps, but it is no real issue.

It's a great job on a great phone. Why not go from RC4.2 to the RTM :D

I have a problem..

I have Galaxy S i9000 with ICS RC4.2
often does not receive phone calls when people call me and, even if those who call me regularly rings.
and then crashed on the unlock screen.
it does to you? how do you solve this problem?

i had same problem yesterday, flash my girls phone with new kernel from devil.....

Try to install different kernel... if not help, try to re install RC4.2, no wipe...
i solve and all programs and data are still here...
try it...

Extremely rare bug after 2 months

I have been using this ROM with no problems at all. Yesterday, I was talking on the phone, when I decided to look, the phone was restarting, but the call never stopped, I continued talking as the phone started, and never happened again. Any ideas? Probably a one time only thing.

awesome work. been using this version since its beta. Two main things that i would like to be fixed is the lag of the browser, and the force closes and freezes that seem to happen often and randomly. thanks. it worked very well for weeks but then just decided that it wanted to be buggy out of no where. i didnt change a thing it just stopped working nicely.

Require some assistance and attention of experts.

First of all ... I am not TOTAL noob in this regard. I know bits and pieces and relevant things i should know.

Problem:
I will avoid the complete "Romeo Juliet" and will try to explain the "Shorter" version of my problem.

I am using TeamSGS's ICS RC4.2, and ever since i flashed this kernel, i am facing Heavy Battery Drain problems.

First 2-3 days were fine. But i tried to OC the CPU upto 1200Mhz and then the Battery Drain problem started.

I wasn't worried initially because it made sense why its happening (the OC). But i was wrong. Downclocking back to stock didn't help either.

I have done my reading from the following thread about Governers etc.
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=19846297

I was using Lulzactive initially (with Live OC), but after some time, started to face Battery Drain issues.

Now i have switched to SmartassV2 and the battery drain is still there.

I am not using:
Live OC
Touch Wake

Can anyone tell me what exactly am i doing wrong?

-------

I love this Kernel because of BLN and Voodoo Sound and I will my best to say on it. But the current problems are getting annoying and its hard for me to stay at this Kernel.

Even on Idle w/ Screen OFF ... battery dies in roughtly 20 hours and while using, roughly 5 hours.
Thats HALF the battery i was getting earlier.

HELP!!

Uhm... you may know bits, but you don't know the difference between a ROM and a kernel...
From where i see it, its definitely a Kernel Related issue.

Posting here was just to make SURE i was the only one with that problem and other people are not having this.

If you have anything which will help me solve my problem, please by all means Do it.

Otherwise, useless comments wont help my cause :)

NOTICE: We apologize for the lack of updates recently, we just want to make it clear that development has under NO circumstances stopped. We are absolutely still working on this and still supporting it. Thank you for your patience.

This ROM is based directly on the source code straight from Google themselves, the way Android is meant to be. This ROM is produced by a collaboration of many different people, with the main development being done by Onecosmic himself. We strive to bring releases as often as possible and provide a stable AOSP ROM. As this is a work in progress, bugs are to be expected! Please check the known issue's before posting/reporting bugs.

Source code can be found here

If you can, please donate a small amount via paypal, we do this for fun and this is optional but it is greatly appreciated and it is a way for you to contribute. If you want us to support another Galaxy S type phone and you have an extra of it, we may consider supporting the phone if you donated it to us to work on. If you think you have a phone that we could support, PM me or any other Team ICSSGS members and we will discuss the possibility of us supporting it.

We do not support anything that is not produced by us!

Ok, work sucks, life not but takes time and so on...

Here i am after getting a couple of minutes to post :)

Lets start with a couple of things:

Battery issues: If you don't complete 2 full charge cycles (discharge to 0 and charge to 100% 2 times) please do not complain about battery life, all android versions needs this in order to calibrate battery comsumption, this is mandatory.

Brightness: I know is darker and have steps not working, i'll fix that, not sure if with an update or in the full release (again, lack of time)

Wifi tether: does not work yet, its a mater of time.

USB tether, worked for me all day today, no mayor issues. anyhow i'll try to check with other users to see what happens.

Voodoo color kernel: it was compiled due to request from several users, i dont like it and i dont have time to check why the gamma tables get screwed, you can adjust them using voodoo control apk. :)

T9 on dialer: wip, again, not sure if update or next release.

Dictionary, there is a update that someone put on the thread, please take a look, it works without issues.

TV Out: i'll get a cable today to test, i dont have one until now so i was not able to test it :)

Media Scanning: i'll check on that (slowness, memory consumption and duplicate names).

Besides of the things above, i have a i9000b phone (almost the same as i9000, minor differences) its complicate to diagnose problems in vibrant or captivate without having the device, so far i know that gps does not work on cappy i'll try to o my best, but again, without having the devices is difficult to test everything.

    Cheers!
