1. When will the next version be released?

2. Which models does it support?
ViperSV, starting from version 1.1.0, works on both International GSM/CDMA and LTE variant.​


3. How do I install the rom?!
ViperSV Install Instructions


  1. Before installation make sure you have unlocked your bootloader first or be S-OFF and using latest firmware to avoid undesired bugs
  2. Make sure you using latest TWRP recovery
  3. Download the the latest ViperSV full ROM zip from the download section
  4. Place the file somewhere on your phone storage.
  5. Confirm the MD5 on the download page matches the MD5 of the file on your phone (ES File Explorer will show the MD5 of the file)
  6. Flash separately boot.img in fastboot using included Venom Kernel flasher from HERE
  7. Reboot to TWRP Recovery
  8. Backup current ROM if desired
  9. Install ROM using TWRP and select wipe during aroma install if coming from another base or Rom
  10. Reboot and Enjoy!

5. How do I restore my HEQS (Horizontal Enhanced Quick Settings)?
Try long pressing the date in the notification bar (Pressing the date for about 2 seconds will toggle between HEQS, Quick Launch bar and "nothing")​


6. How do I make my device look like stock?
To disable some of the tweaks, do the following:

  1. Disable HEQS (Horizontal Enhanced Quick Settings): Long press the date in the notification bar for about 2 seconds to toggle between modes until it's hidden
  2. Disable Weather: Tweaks - Status Bar - Weather - Hide
  3. Disable Header Text (cpu usage, etc.): Tweaks - Status Bar - Header - Information - Hide
  4. Disable VEQS (Vertical Enhanced Quick Settings): Tweaks - Status Bar - Vertical quick settings - Disable


7. I have a problem with the ROM (FC, Boot Loop, apps closing automatically). How can I get my problem resolved?
First things first. Try wiping data and replicating the issue:
  1. Rebooting into Recovery
  2. Perform a Nandroid backup (of just Data if you wish)
  3. Flash the ROM and select the option to "Wipe Data"
  4. Try replicating the issue

If the problem persists, capture a logcat and send it to developers.

To capture a logcat, If you have fastboot setup, you already have the drivers installed and probably already have adb.exe in the same folder as fastboot.exe:

  1. Open the Command Prompt (run it as Administrator if UAC is enabled in Windows)
  2. run adb logcat >c:\logcat.txt
  3. To capture an FC, use the command adb shell "logcat | grep AndroidRuntime" >c:logcat.txt
  4. Press Control-C to stop logging
  5. Paste the contents of c:\logcat.txt into http://pastebin.com
  6. Post the link here with the problem being experienced

If you still have the issue, check to see if it's been reported here and create a new incident if it already hasn't.​


8. What's the md5 sum thing?
It ensures, that the rom is downloaded correctly and completely to avoid weird issues when installing/using the rom. Google for "md5 sum checker" and you should find what you need.​


9. What is PnPMgr daemon?
You can change maximum CPU and GPU frequency using aroma installer options. New rules and improvements are added from HTC One profile, like maximum CPU screen-off frequency 1026 MHz, optimal CPU frequency settings for updated ondemand governor and boot-time performance lock which will decrease booting time. We recommend setting CPU/GPU speeds via aroma and not change them later via 3d party apps, u can still change speeds via Venom Tweaks for benchmarks and similar but than you won't benefit from PnPMgr which has many rules and policies defined, for example when you launch navigation then maximum CPU frequency is limited to 900 MHz, when you are using camera in HDR or Panorama mode, both cores are enabled, in launcher when you changing screens both cores also are always enabled.​


10. I found a theme or mod, will it work on this rom?
It's NOT recommended to use mod/themes that don't clearly state, that they are compatible with our rom. Themes/Mods always use framework files which will brake mods/stuff in our rom.​


11. My question is not listed here, what to do?
Ensure you used the xda search, google and your brain before asking a question in the thread. If you can't find an answer yourself we will answer your question for sure! (-:​


12. My media (pictures, music, etc.) is not listed in the Gallery/HTC Music/etc.
Try rescanning your SDCard by using an app such as Media Scanner​


13. What are the correct sizes for custom carrier logo?
Try 100x100​


14. Insufficient storage error on app update/install in play store


15. I get FC when i want to edit picture in gallery, or get random FCs in camera application, or can't set contact picture
This happens because you have remains of older rom versions in your DCIM folder on SDCard, you must delete all files inside except your personal pictures (*.jpg), meaning delete all .thumbnail and nomedia or other files that are not your pictures​


16. Why are some widgets missing in sense 5?
HTC removed them, nothing was removed from ROM.​


17. My phone reboots when i take photo (With or without flash)
This will happen if your battery is low (20% or lower), or your battery in general is in bad shape, you should consider buying a new battery!​


18. My phone or wifi doesn't turn ON after flashing full rom or OTA
This means you are S-ON and kernel can't be flashed in recovery, you can use provided Venom Kernel Flasher tool for easy flashing the boot.img, or you can do it your self via fastboot​


19. I have robotic call sound with in/outgoing calls, how can I solve this issue?
Solution by @TGN:
After flashing ViperSV following instructions above, do this:
1) Flash seperatly the firmware files for the radio, here: http://d-h.st/tAc
2) Put the files in your fastboot folder
3) Run the following commands while in fastboot:

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot

As if the ROM isn't customizable enough, we have also developed the Venom Theme kitchen.
Really want some statusbar icons that aren't in the HUB,or got a great idea for a set of Sense icons? Why not make it yourself and share it with others via the Venom HUB?

For k2_ul users, I need feedback in order to add support in future.
Also to all, S-OFF or S-ON, you must flash boot.img separately in fastboot. - support added in 1.1.0!

Yes this is very good i have used Viper on Desire S


For use with DreamBeats Kernel must delete wp_mod.ko and in etc/init.d/ the module script


and after install venom must copy the libs and the nfc_k2ul lib from /system/lib/hw to venom than is venom k2_ul compatible


wp_mod is not good .

S-Off has Wp on System and Dreambeats has Read Write on all System DIR's Only Stock Kernel and S-on has no WP

Should i install the kernel in the TWRP recovery after i install the rom or should i use fastboot? Sorry i don't really get the instructions on how to install the kernel. NOOB!

    3. How do I install the rom?!

    1. Before installation make sure you have unlocked your bootloader first or be S-OFF and using latest firmware to avoid undesired bugs
    2. Make sure you using latest TWRP recovery
    3. Download the the latest ViperSV full ROM zip from the download section
    4. Place the file somewhere on your phone storage.
    5. Confirm the MD5 on the download page matches the MD5 of the file on your phone (ES File Explorer will show the MD5 of the file)
    6. Flash separately boot.img in fastboot using included Venom Kernel flasher from HERE
    7. Reboot to TWRP Recovery
    8. Backup current ROM if desired
    9. Install ROM using TWRP and select wipe during aroma install if coming from another base or Rom
    10. Reboot and Enjoy!

    5. How do I restore my HEQS (Horizontal Enhanced Quick Settings)?
    Try long pressing the date in the notification bar (Pressing the date for about 2 seconds will toggle between HEQS, Quick Launch bar and "nothing")​


    6. How do I make my device look like stock?
    To disable some of the tweaks, do the following:

    1. Disable HEQS (Horizontal Enhanced Quick Settings): Long press the date in the notification bar for about 2 seconds to toggle between modes until it's hidden
    2. Disable Weather: Tweaks - Status Bar - Weather - Hide
    3. Disable Header Text (cpu usage, etc.): Tweaks - Status Bar - Header - Information - Hide
    4. Disable VEQS (Vertical Enhanced Quick Settings): Tweaks - Status Bar - Vertical quick settings - Disable


    7. I have a problem with the ROM (FC, Boot Loop, apps closing automatically). How can I get my problem resolved?
    First things first. Try wiping data and replicating the issue:
    1. Rebooting into Recovery
    2. Perform a Nandroid backup (of just Data if you wish)
    3. Flash the ROM and select the option to "Wipe Data"
    4. Try replicating the issue

    If the problem persists, capture a logcat and send it to developers.

    To capture a logcat, If you have fastboot setup, you already have the drivers installed and probably already have adb.exe in the same folder as fastboot.exe:

    1. Open the Command Prompt (run it as Administrator if UAC is enabled in Windows)
    2. run adb logcat >c:\logcat.txt
    3. To capture an FC, use the command adb shell "logcat | grep AndroidRuntime" >c:logcat.txt
    4. Press Control-C to stop logging
    5. Paste the contents of c:\logcat.txt into http://pastebin.com
    6. Post the link here with the problem being experienced

    If you still have the issue, check to see if it's been reported here and create a new incident if it already hasn't.​


    8. What's the md5 sum thing?
    It ensures, that the rom is downloaded correctly and completely to avoid weird issues when installing/using the rom. Google for "md5 sum checker" and you should find what you need.​


    9. What is PnPMgr daemon?
    You can change maximum CPU and GPU frequency using aroma installer options. New rules and improvements are added from HTC One profile, like maximum CPU screen-off frequency 1026 MHz, optimal CPU frequency settings for updated ondemand governor and boot-time performance lock which will decrease booting time. We recommend setting CPU/GPU speeds via aroma and not change them later via 3d party apps, u can still change speeds via Venom Tweaks for benchmarks and similar but than you won't benefit from PnPMgr which has many rules and policies defined, for example when you launch navigation then maximum CPU frequency is limited to 900 MHz, when you are using camera in HDR or Panorama mode, both cores are enabled, in launcher when you changing screens both cores also are always enabled.​


    10. I found a theme or mod, will it work on this rom?
    It's NOT recommended to use mod/themes that don't clearly state, that they are compatible with our rom. Themes/Mods always use framework files which will brake mods/stuff in our rom.​


    11. My question is not listed here, what to do?
    Ensure you used the xda search, google and your brain before asking a question in the thread. If you can't find an answer yourself we will answer your question for sure! (-:​


    12. My media (pictures, music, etc.) is not listed in the Gallery/HTC Music/etc.
    Try rescanning your SDCard by using an app such as Media Scanner​


    13. What are the correct sizes for custom carrier logo?
    Try 100x100​


    14. Insufficient storage error on app update/install in play store


    15. I get FC when i want to edit picture in gallery, or get random FCs in camera application, or can't set contact picture
    This happens because you have remains of older rom versions in your DCIM folder on SDCard, you must delete all files inside except your personal pictures (*.jpg), meaning delete all .thumbnail and nomedia or other files that are not your pictures​


    16. Why are some widgets missing in sense 5?
    HTC removed them, nothing was removed from ROM.​


    17. My phone reboots when i take photo (With or without flash)
    This will happen if your battery is low (20% or lower), or your battery in general is in bad shape, you should consider buying a new battery!​


    18. My phone or wifi doesn't turn ON after flashing full rom or OTA
    This means you are S-ON and kernel can't be flashed in recovery, you can use provided Venom Kernel Flasher tool for easy flashing the boot.img, or you can do it your self via fastboot​


    19. I have robotic call sound with in/outgoing calls, how can I solve this issue?
    Solution by @TGN:
    After flashing ViperSV following instructions above, do this:
    1) Flash seperatly the firmware files for the radio, here: http://d-h.st/tAc
    2) Put the files in your fastboot folder
    3) Run the following commands while in fastboot:
