nook HD+ only has 768m ram?

I thought nook HD+ is supposed to have one big ram, but a check in settings app shows it only has 768. is this right?

running cm11 kit kat 4.4.4
Yes. The rest is reserved for operating system use. If you had searched, this question has been answered many times.

Thanks. You're right I should've searched. Reason I asked is on boot up it looks like half of 768 is used up already. I assumed that was android itself and auto run apps.

Android does use a lot of the 768. And the apps are not auto run. Android automatically loads the apps it thinks you might run in the background so they are already in memory when you need them. It will unload some if you choose to load a different one. It has a very efficient memory management system. That remaining memory above 768 is for hardware things, like screen frame buffer, etc.
