...GPS...

I always read, that GPS is not functioning under CM7. I can't confirm this!!
For me it takes the same time for satellite-fix as under FROYO.
Okay it takes up to three minutes for the first fix but only seconds when you don't wait for hours to the next usage. It also depends on the weather conditions, buildings and trees, but as I said it's the same behavior as in the old system.

Maybe it helped that I build my own /system/etc/gps.conf
from a bunch of threads with tips for it. So I attach mine here and invite everybody to test it.

The reason why you think it's working fine is this part: "Okay it takes up to three minutes for the first fix".
This isn't good. This isn't the same as Froyo (if it's working as it should). A first fix should take 5-10 seconds, maybe 20-30 with really really bad GPS Signal (like near a window, where only half the sky is visible). Every subsequent fix should be basically instantaneous, in the range of 2-3 seconds.
If you had longer lock times on froyo something was misconfigured.

Don't get me wrong, GPS is mostly usable (it also occasionally drops completely for a short while for no apparent reason, but that isn't so bad either). It's just not working perfectly... yet!

I know that waiting for three minutes is not good and not what I really want. But this was the case with every system Eclair, Froyo or GB in my device.
So I believe that is has to do with the Samsung-hardware/cmos/eprom/firmware/whatever-combination (build 09/2010).
Although Belief isn't very helpful in this case - so what, GPS is working stable for me, despite of many voices telling it does not work at all.
If there would be someone developing something to get a fix "within seconds" or tell me what is misconfigured - tried all combinations suggested for GpsSetup2.apk and the gps.conf

So – using now still CM7a7 – can I simply flash the latest CM7a8.2?
Because I thought I have to flash CM7a8 or CM7a8.1 and then update to CM7a8.2 (as its description says it's an update)...

Yes.. U can update directly.. Just wipe data after update.. ;-)
Edit: U should update kernel too.. Try g3mod 2.5 or cm7 1.8....

Please help.... I wanna try this....

What's the exact Non-Working list or FCs you get in this ROM ?

Can someone compare this ROM with Kyrillos CM ROM ?

I tried Kyrillos CM, but due to IMP non-working list back to Froyo.

What's the Fastest and Battery saver OC Kernel offering hd2sd, etc ?

i think u should flash alpha 8.1 a first...then the rc3 build on top:)

Thanks! For all updating like me: I tried to update [CM7a7->CM7a8.2] and it hang before CM loading screen. I updated [CM7a7->CM7a8->CM7a8.2] and it worked at the first time.

The same with /Ceramic Destroyer/, /Glow Hockey/, /Puzzles with Matches/.

ANOTHER*PROBLEM:
After update /Viber/, /Google Goggles/ and /Transportoid/ don't work. Titanium Backup didn't manage to restore it on freshy ROM; a trial via Google Play results in message "Missing shared library" (a day later, after installing and configuring all other apps). On CM7a7 everything worked perfectly.

applied the 8.2 update over alpha 8. But I can't manage to get my ext partition recognized. Its something like can't mount ext partition. Tried to mount ext from recovery, but still couldn't, but then formatted ext partition and it successfully got mounted in recovery. But when I rebooted, s2e still didn't recognize my ext partition. In recovery, it was again unmounted. What shall I do ??

Hi! I never managed to get s2e working :-/ I'm using link2sd instead for months and i'm quite happy with it. It places some scripts in system/etc/init.d and after reboot you can easily manage your settings in the link2sd app...

May i give you a hint: i formatted my sd-ext partition in ext4 initially. that caused many problems for me; videos played slowly, apps got fc's and so on; since i formatted my sd-ext to ext2 with minitool everything is going really fast and stable :p

Extract and copy the attached file in /system/etc/init.d/ (replace the current one).

    Hello,

This thread is here to let you know how is the port of CyanogenMod 7 and to discuss about it.

Actually, the CM7 port is in alpha stage, until all the hardware is working. The ROM is very stable and can be used everyday, but you could miss some features that are not yet (fully) working like bluetooth.

    Main rules :
There is no ETA so, please, don't ask.

    What is working :
    - Android system 2.3.7 / CyanogenMod 7.2
    - SDcard is usable
    - 2D software renderer with correct aspect ratio
    - Mobile network connection (Fixed 06/02/2011)
    - Wifi module (Fixed 06/02/2011)
    - Sound (Fixed 04/06/2011)
    - Vibrator (Fixed 04/06/2011)
    - Power key menu (04/06/2011)
    - Cpufreq driver (fix cyanogenmod performance setting - 16/06/2011)
    - GPS (19/06/2011)
    - CWM 5.0.2.7 (22/06/2011)
    - Sensors (akm8973 - 20/07/2011)
    - 2D/3D graphic acceleration (07/09/2011 - alpha6)
    - Camera (07/09/2011 - alpha6)
    - Video (07/09/2011 - alpha6)
    - Screen Off CRT animation (29/09/2011 - alpha6.1)
    - Screenshot option menu (29/09/2011 - alpha6.1)
    - FM radio (27/10/2011 - alpha7)
    - USB mass storage (05/11/2011 - alpha7)
    - BLN (06/11/2011 - alpha7)

    @Everyone :

I have got many PM's regarding the state of this thread and i believe Marcel would have got more than me ......thats why i am sharing the Info.

Marcel have got the job he desired and currently have to move to CANADA......so it will probably take 1-2 Weeks.....

after that he should first get settled in there and should build up the development environment again.......

So till then i guess everyone should have patience.

Not 1-2 weeks but 3-4 months... but you know, it's not easy to immigrate in a new country so I'm very busy to prepare my family and myself for the move.

Thanks for your support and patience.

    Some news about Alpha9 :
    - Camera : you can now use a barcode reader or any app that requires camera. It should work.
    - Video recording is working with some restrictions : not using hardware codec but software. Audio is not recorded but may be fixed soon.
