I´M portuguese too and i´m in 4.2.2 C-rom mix v8, really needs the 160 characters and that "bubble" theme.

I should have already uploaded it, but I'm not being able to compile any apps using apktool. I don't know what's happening, apktool used to work just fine...
Here are the latest files for apktool that I am using. Give them a try. I had same error when working on a systemui and these helped me to be able to decompile and compile okay.

C:\android\apktool>apktool if framework-res.apk
I: Framework installed to: C:\Users\John\apktool\framework\1.apk
maybe it is different in windows 8.

didn't work.. wth! I'm getting sick of this. I'm really starting to think it's because windows 8 installs the framework in system32. But how come no one have had this problem yet? I'm sure there are developers using windows8..
Just to make sure, you have Java JDK/JRE install also right? I thought of this after I went out. Not sure about anything to do with Win8, not interested in that at all

yes I have everything up to date :/ I really have no idea what's causing this
i was looking at your errors. when i decompile, i type:
apktool d systemui.apk systemui and it is decompiled in the systemui folder
then to build i type
apktool b systemui systemui1.apk
in your code you only type apktool b mms
what does it build it to?

Wish I could tell you. You should try it in win 7 I think. Win 8 maybe the culprit. not a lot of info about apktool trouble with win8 to be found...
I just tried to do the exact same thing on another windows 8 computer and it worked like a charm! What the hell is wrong on my computer??
uh er um it doesn't like you? LOL... Maybe a clean install of Win8 will help that though, like i said i know nuttin bout 8. hoping for your success

This works on any ICS/JB(up to android 4.1).
UPDATE [23-02-2013]: NOW WORKS ON ANDROID 4.2 JB!(some roms above 4.2 may not be compatible).
This Mms.apk is the same as the stock one, except for the mods I applied. It is the most close to the stock Mms.apk, just with some better features! ;D

Features:
- Inverted (optional): black background instead of white (check attachments to download the apk you want: inverted or non-inverted);
- No MMS conversion: you can type very long messages and it won't automatically convert it to a MMS;
- Unlimited Recipients list: you can now send your message to more than 20 people at the same time;
- Original Time Stamps: this makes original time stamps setting actually work: it shows the exact sent time of received messages, not the moment when you actually receive it on your phone;
- New Line Option: have you noticed that stupid "" key next to the space bar? Yeah, where the "new line" key should be? Google did it! But this mod changes that "" key to "new line" key as it should always be.
- 160 characters capacity: 160 characters capacity per SMS for other languages other than English, and not 60-70. No more extra costs for longer messages!
- Bigger Writing Window: if you notice, when you are typing long sms, you can only see 3 sentences of what you've typed. I've changed that value to 5 sentences and it feels much better. Now you can see 5 sentences of the message you're typing.
- Emoji Support: a set of 471 nice emoticons.
- Changed default android heart smiley: do you know that green smiley when you type '<3'? Removed that green android and replaced it with a neat heart (see screenshots).
- Speech Bubbles: some nice balloons around the texts.
- With/without Avatars: you can choose the version with avatar pics or the one without them.
- With/without SGS III icons: the versions with this tag have the messaging app icon of the SGS III, as well as the smileys.
- Pop-up notification: Enable this in settings. A pop-up will show up when a new message is received. You can reply right away.
How to install:
Using a file explorer:
If you've downloaded the Mms_xxxx.apk:
1. Use something like root explorer
2. Go to /system/app and mount R/W
3. Rename current 'Mms.apk' to 'Mms.apk.bak' (this is a backup)
4. Copy the 'Mms_modded.apk' you downloaded to /system/app
5. Rename 'Mms_modded.apk' to 'Mms.apk'
6. Change 'Mms.apk' permissions to: rw-r--r--
7. Mount R/O
8. Reboot your phone.
Via CWM:
If you've downloaded the Mms_xxxx_CWM.zip, you can flash it through CWM:
1. Install zip from sdcard
2. choose zip from sdcard
3. browse to the Mms_xxxx_CWM.zip
4. yes
5. reboot system now

Hmm no there isn't :/ I didn't make such version. I think I'll stop answering requests because there's a lot of people asking for mods and I can't handle so much requests. I might make a guide on how to mod the apk, explaining each mods, and how to do them4hey when do u upgrade your base new features (translations, options to select the enter, send button. etc...)

hi! there's no way I'm udating every single version again to use the recent base. I'm sorry, but that's just too much, because I would have to apply each mod specifically again. I think I'll make a guide. That way everyone will be able to apply the mods he/she wants
