Thank you! This worked great, I used RUU method and when that was done I used method 2 to make my self a custom HBOOT 1.09, for some reason I thought this RUU would put HBOOT 2.14 on the phone but I was wrong, it put the HBOOT 1.14 on the phone, this method was easy and everything can be easily restored :)

Does it have to be the 2.20 RUU when removing tampered or can it be any RUU?

I recommend just using the 2.20 RUU because whatever it does your going to probably remove it anyways

The RUU resets everything in bootloader/recovery.So after you have acheived s-off, when you run the RUU it still think's security is active and releases the watermark and flags. This will also keep super CID as with no security = no change back. I figured this out building things for the evo 4g way way back.I was surprised to it reposted several times everywhere. Some have claimed no need to relock before RUU but i dont see that as possible, since RUU checks bootloader. <<<<<<<<<<<<-PLEASE READ OP>>>>>>>>>> liamstears has the exact method perfectly laid out for you. DO NOT BYPASS/ALTER ANY STEPS. READ then READ again, you will need to re-install recovery and custom rom or root.Done correctly nothing will happen but you doing the happy dance.

I kind of like the tampered text!

I've done everything else except for tampered text. Personal I think it adds the hacked look to the bootloader, Rebel. Besides who is going to say "Hey can I see your bootloader". And to do the whole process over, no thanks. For all that have, congrats.

I totally agree with what you mean about following the process and not skipping any steps... And I've run the 1.85 RUU several times in the past (with S-ON) "to get a clean slate", if you will... and it always aborted and stopped at the beginning of the process if the phone wasn't oem-relocked.

Which is why I was totally shocked (with S-OFF) that 2.20 RUU ran to completion even though I had forgotten to oem-relock. And all seems well with my AT&T HOX. But yes, follow the process...

Got an idea for Stealth mode:
S-off phone
Remove tampered and red text
Change s-off text to s-on
Change cid back to correct cid for your carrier
Relock phone

We should in theory be able to make the phone look like it is s-on, but still be s-off.

Sent from the HOXL dimension of S-OFF

The only problem is when you relock the bootloader it says "Relocked" rather than "Locked". Well at least it did on mine when I tried it a minute ago.

So I just did the long method to remove my tampered box(RUU and all). Following the instructions it took maybe 45min total, and most of that was the RUU. I also used the Regawmod program and the plugin the OP made to make a 'stealth' bootloader(it says Locked, S-ON, and no red text). I was going to include the hboot/bootloader image the program spit out for me in this post, but thought better of it. Instead I have a question to ask, would my Unlock_code.bin work on any OneX(L) that is super CID or is it only good for my device? I am asking because I am debating on making a zip for the OP to put in his post that will include the 2.20 RUU, my bootloader, the 2.3.1.0 twrp recovery image, and my unlock token(if it would work on any super CID phone that is S-OFF) if not that I will just provide the other stuff to be put in the 1st post at the OP's discretion.

Yea I'm pretty sure the unlock token is specific to only one device, good thought though. Having the recovery and everything in one download would make this even easier for people afraid of searching

Each unlock token is device specific. In my sig there's a pre built adb/fastboot setup. Just drop in stuff to flash and go. If you know what to do with the folder. Works on every pc/os and for every android device.

As much of a good idea as it is to have an all in one zip everyone uses different radios, recoverys, roms, hboots etc so this isn't really a viable option

I'm trying to remove the tampered text, and no matter what once I get to the screen in the RUU with the update button and hit that, nothing happens. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

I have downgraded the rom on my phone, but it still says the image that's on the phone is 3.17. My h-boot is now 1.09.

I don't know if anyone else encountered this but after I S-OFF'd I changed my CID back to TELUS001 However, I could not manage to flash RegawMOD's zip until I changed my CID to 11111111 again.

Thanks for the cool mod!

Try running the ruu booted. Usb debugging checked unknown sources checked.
Or your not actually in fastboot.

    Remove Tampered Text!

    S-Off required
This is quite a lengthy process but this will remove the tampered text competely and not leave just a blank space at the top, you will need adb, fastboot, 2.20 RUU, recovery img and your Unlock_code.bin, so here goes:

First of all do a FULL backup in recovery (your phone will be wiped so dont miss doing this!)
While your phone is doing that heave over here to download the 2.20 RUU: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1814217
When backup has completely reboot into fastboot
    do: fastboot oem lock
    Reboot into Bootloader
    Run the RUU downloaded earlier
When it has finished do: fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin (Dont panic if this fails, it failed for me all you need to do is go to HTCDev and unlock bootloader following the instructions)
When that has completed go back into fastboot and flash your recovery back: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (twrp.img or whatever img your recovery is called)
Once done enter recovery and restore the backup you made earlier
After this you are all done for the main part but remember you flashed an RUU so everything an RUU flashes needs to be flashed back to what you want, this means reflash the HBoot, Splash image, radio and anything else that the RUU changes that you want to be different from the RUU
Done! Enjoy no tampered text in Bootloader :D

For those that want a quick easy flash with only red text removed please scroll down

For One XL/Evita Only! Hboot only will be flashed. S-Off is required. This can be flashed on any HBoot and can be used to easily downgrade hboot.

Can anyone work out what causes the loading bar to show or disappear?

    New method, customize your HBoot!

Please note this method is currently untested (although I have hex compared the before and after hboots and all the changes seem 100% fine)

I have made plug-ins for RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer

RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer allows you to remove the red text or change it to something else, change s-off text to s-on, change the build date/time and change the *** Unlocked *** text

Download the main app from here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1786498

Then download the plug-ins from here: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=38216901&postcount=89

Choose the plug-in dependant on what version of hboot you want

Place the plug-in and RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer exe in the same directory and open the exe. Choose your options and create a zip and place that zip in your adb folder

boot into bootloader and enter fastboot mode.
    do:
    fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip PJ83IMG.zip (Or whatever you called the zip when you saved it)
    fastboot reboot

Quick simple flash that only removes red text:

Here it is for anyone that wants it:

    HBoot 1.09: http://d-h.st/bt9
    HBoot 1.14: http://d-h.st/pZ1
    HBoot 2.14: http://d-h.st/J1T
HBoot 2.15: http://d-h.st/toS (Thanks to exad)
    HBoot 2.18: http://d-h.st/Tnu

Make sure you have fastboot and adb installed
Place downloaded file in same directory as fastboot and adb is installed
boot into bootloader and enter fastboot mode.
    do:
    fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip RemoveText-1.09.zip (for 2.14 version RemoveText-2.14.zip)
    fastboot reboot

This simply mods the hboot to remove the red text

Some people report issues with erase cache command, if you have the problem to fix simply go into recovery and wipe cache

This has been flashed and confirmed 100% working but as always we need a disclaimer:
I can not be held responsible for this zip please flash at your own risk!!

Since we ripped the new 2.15 hboot from the European OTA, I thought I would create a no red text splash hboot for those who just want to remove the red splash, and a plugin for those who want to add some swag to their bootloader screen.

I have already tested it myself.

    No red text hboot: http://d-h.st/toS

    Plugin: http://d-h.st/4pR
