Revert back to touchwiz?

1st thing..
cyanogenmod is not a theme..its a rom..it means its whole system..when you flash it.....u remove every sinprecautionsgle samsung stock touchwiz system files and replace with cyanogenmod(aosp based rom) files....so its not an app that u uninstall after u get bored and u ll get samsung stock touchwiz....
secondly........galaxy grand has been provided 4.2.2 only till date via samsung official roms....so it uses jellybean 4.2.2 drivers and files and everything.....while on other hand, cm11 uses kitkat files and everything in system.....what i want to say is that there is nooo stock samsung 4.4.2 (kitkat)...there is only jellybean available till now by samsung official.........now if u don't want kitkat(cm11/carbon/slimkat),and u want stock Samsung, then simply flash its firmware via odin...i can give u link to download whole firmware of 4.2.2.....if u want......

but if u want latest kitkat Lib's and everything with game bugs fixes...i suggest u stay with cm11...(though. u ll have only one sim in cm based roms, and normal nexus things and features)......
if u thinking cm11 is theme or something then u are wrong...
when u flashed it,u deleted touchwiz Samsung stock things completely and installed cm11 things instead of that)....u can ask any qsn u want to..i ll help..though u should Google first to know what is flashing and how to flash via odin for stock OEMs ..
u can ask still anything if u want...

hope i helped :)

Hey,I had flashed Carbon unofficial 4.4.2 on my grand, but unfortunately couldn't make a nandroid backup of my stock firmware.
Now,my question is, is it safe to simply do usual wipes and flash a custom touchwiz 4.2.2 rom (one like GENNXT) to get back the touchwiz?
Any special precautions before, during, or after the flashing?
I badly need touchwiz on the phone.
(And i have no intentions of spanning or anything,i almost searched everywhere. This was my last resort)

It is safe. Make sure you "format /system" (under mounts and storage) along with the regular wipes to have a clean base for 4.2.2 ROM.

It works for me, but if you run into problems, it's better to keep 4.2.2 firmware (preferably K3) with you.

Ohkay...So K3 firmware you suggest. Is 'K3' the Pyramid K3 we are talking about?
All i need to do is--perform full wipes-flash K3 pyramid rom-wipe dalvik cache.Thats it right?
(Once again a noob one,but can't help it you see)

No, Pyramid K3 would be considered a ROM, not firmware. The name K3 in PyramidK3 actually refers to the firmware it was built on.

The firmware K3 is the one that is flashed by Odin (3.07 is recommended), it can recover your phone from a soft brick at any time and revert you back to stock without any modifications.
K3 is actually short for I9082XXUBMK3 - http://samsung-updates.com/details/16513/Galaxy_Grand_Duos/GT-I9082/INU/I9082XXUBMK3.html

And yes you can flash PyramidK3, GENNXT or any other 4.2.2 ROM after wipes.

What you should do while switching from 4.4 to 4.2.2 is
  • Wipe Data/Factory Reset
  • Wipe Cache
  • Wipe Dalvik Cache (Under Advanced in CWM)
  • Format /system (Under Mounts and Storage in CWM)

If you are unsure how to use recovery, it's probably better to get yourself familiar with it first. Check this Guide - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2190211

Also if you are new to rooting, I'd strongly recommend you take an EFS backup before playing with different ROMs. EFS has all the important details of your phone like it's IMEI number, having a backup is the only way to restore it without taking it into a service center.

Ok first of all, there is no "Stock version 4.4.2".
You can revert back to stock 4.2.2 by either flashing your 4.2.2 firmware through Odin or by flashing a stock based ROM through recovery.
