The title says it all, this is the latest version of Hangouts which comes with some nifty new features. You can find a changelog in this Google+ post:

We must change the apk or just install it?

All you need to do is navigate to the downloaded apk and click it to install it. It will install over the previous version.

This latest version removes the possibility to send pictures via Hangouts if you are not a Google+ member. Prior to this version this was always possible via using the "share" button in e.g. the Gallery app and then selecting to share to Hangouts. Google completely blocked this possibility now unless you join Google+. This means this is now a text-only app for everyone who does not want to join Google+.

Unfortunately I realized this too late; will most likely revert to an older version; which is a pity since a lot of aspects in this new version have improved.

If anyone can create an Xposed module which enables non-Google+ users to post pictures within Hangouts again, you would be my hero.

Google is not doing themselves a favor with this.

Why not just create a Google+ account? You don't even need to use it or put any real information in it.

is there anyway to block SMS from certain people using hangouts? i haven't mixed sms and hangouts because of the lack of possibility to block SMS from certain people...

I don't think there integrated a blacklist feature into Hangouts yet.

This. I get why people don't want to USE Google+ accounts, but you already have a Google account obviously. Just enable Google+, lock everything down, and voila.

GREAAAAAT i love using hangouts instead the standar msg apps thanks bro
