i was able to restore my device with this, thanks! i am running Ubuntu 10.04, and i can't seem to install the latest version of Heimdall, i get an error about libusb unsatisfiable dependency, or something like that. however, your package worked perfectly, even tho it said it did not find the expected version of Heimdall.

issue

I'm having an issue, could be becuase I'm running Fedora...will be switching back to a kde base (probably pclos). I'ts saying Heimdall is out of date and it's not detecting my sk4g.

Get the gksudo package. Also try redownloading. Let me know what happened. "Unknown status" is a failover mode which I cannot account for... otherwise it would be an error message of some sort.

Adam,

Sorry I wasted your time when I should have checked the .jar package myself before posting. The heimdall linux packages are packaged in .deb and fedora natively runs .rpm and .yum paqckages. Just had to install .deb package handler.

Oh.. its not a waste of time. Im sure a ton of people are in a frantic panic when they use Heimdall one-click. Can you give me the name of the package installer? Just dpkg on your system or is there something else? I can notify to install that or build from source.

Used dpkg and beesu (graphical sudo for fc16) don't think I needed beesu, but it worked, so I'm not questioning it..lol.

Had the same problem, i dont think Heimdall can handle MODEM problems or whatever.

But here, this'll fix your problems. http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=26681511#post26681511

Heimdall can flash modems. Most the time when a flash fails like this, it could be:

  • a bad cable
  • using the front-panel usb ports (try the ones in the back of the computer that are soldered onto the motherboard, or a different port)
  • On windows or mac, having the kies or odin compatible drivers installed. Uninstall them, reboot, and try again.
  • If all else fails, try a different computer

    Introduction:
This package will totally reset your t839 Sidekick 4G to UVKG2. For windows, The Open-Source libUSB Heimdall drivers are different from from the closed source and proprietary Samsung drivers, so you must install drivers if prompted. Linux and Mac are standard installs.

This is a total wipe package. Your device will end up as a factory-fresh unit with UVKG2.

    This package includes:
    • Repartitioning: Repartition to stock KG2
    • IBL/PBL
    • PARAM
    • SBL
    • SBL2
    • Kernel
    • Recovery
    • FactoryFS
    • DataFS
    • Modem
    • Cache

    This package does not wipe:
    • EFS(Where your serial number and carrier information is stored)
    • SDCard (where your pictures are stored)
You may use this code to reformat the Data and SDCard *2767*3855# There is no way to do this from Download Mode. The code will leave the EFS untouched.

whats the difference between this and odin?
    I'm glad you asked.

It works on Linux, windows and Mac. It's open source (drivers and all). It installs its own dependencies. It's unpackagable and repackagable. It shows you what you're flashing. It is safer than Odin in 6 different ways. Also, there is ABSOLUTELY NO Odin flash for the Sidekick 4G which is complete. This is a complete flash.

There is no odin package which can say any of these statements. You can click the last link in the first post for more.
