Again I'm going back to 4.1.1. I've searched and searched questions about the back button and search button not working, and the only repsonse people get is 'it must be the ROM' and the like. Well, on ICS AOKP, JB AOKP, CM 10, and Stock ROM, that is still the case. Wiped, and switched back and forth with the kernels trying to find a Rom that it did not do this in. Not asking for how to fix or anything, as I have no issues just sticking to 4.1.1 because it hasn't given me any problems at all. Just informing or 'putting it out there' because it seems like people posting about this are just a minority, and that it's not the kernel. Anyway, thanks either way for the work you do.

It's the ROM. You installed an i9100 rom. This is easily diagnosed with Google.

Is Siyah 4.1.5 an international kernel then? Unless I'm missing something... It's the one this thread is about, which is why I posted here. When I searched about it though, people kept mentioning that to be a culprit, and it makes sense as the international one doesn't have these same buttons, but if that is the case, then why is the one I'm getting from OP here doing it? Every other vresion of Siyah I've used from here, I think starting with 3.2 or something has not had this issue, and the only one I haven't tried is 4.1.4. It IS the one WITH mic swap, the one I always use, and has never had this problem, and I've been running mostly AOKP ICS, then JB since. Other rooms I test drove, including shostock, abberation, I think mystic glory, cm9/10, haven't had this problem. I've run them all as secondary ROM, with the stock ICS as primary. I've read I'm supposed to have an issue with the mic swap to where one or ther other would sound like I'm distant, Turning off noise suppressor fixes that, and I can switch between them with no issues. I'm wondering, if maybe because it's secondary ROM now? I don't think it should matter, but I guess this is turning into a Q&A thing, so I'll leave it at that, but if you have thoughts, please message me.

I've been using AOKP ICS, and now JB for a little over a month now, with siyah 4.1.1 mswap. No issues, flashed 4.1.5 mswap, issue. Same rom, different kenel...no... it is not the rom. Thanks though. I'll flash without mswap and see what happens...maybe the files and links were swapped, which would actually be funny.

Did you download thru the link to gokhanmorals site in the op? Otherwise you are the only person having a problem.

Glad you brought that up, I came back to post the mistake I observed. I DID download from OP, but a few weeks ago I had downloaded from the other website. the file was name the same except it had "CWM" at the end of it, so when I went to flash the one I downloaded, that's the one I selected. Not afraid to admit a mistake there lol. Deleted that one, flashed the one I already had from OP, and all is well. Thanks for the input though.

No problem...every one makes mistakes.... admitting to them, well I can't say everyone does that.
Glad it's working out for you! Enjoy

It can be whatever it wants to be. Gokhan switched to 4.4.3 months ago, and so did I. He reciently switched back (maybe) to 4.7 and I have not looked at what needs to be done yet to my version.

No I know... Infact ktoonsez let me know there are some pluses to using 4.7 toochaons and right now I'm testing 4.1.6 built with that tool chains. :)

    Dual-Boot instructions and Notes
If you want to have another ROM as secondary ROM, follow these steps:
1.Make a nandroid backup of your existing ROM
2.wipe everything and install the other ROM
3.Boot the ROM and make customizations. Don’t forget to reflash SiyahKernel if the ROM flashes another kernel.
4.Use CWM Touch Recovery to clone your rom as secondary rom.
    5.Restore nandroid backup
6.To boot from the secondary ROM, either press the HOME key or the VOLUME DOWN key when prompted.

    Some notes about dualbooting:
■If you do not make any cloning you won’t be prompted to boot the second ROM.
■you may need to reflash this kernel after a nandroid restore if your nandroid backup is created with another kernel.
■you won’t be able to use mass storage mode for /sdcard in second rom because we have our data and cache partitions on /sdcard. only external sdcard will be mounted if you are using mass_storage mode. mtp should work fine for sdcard.
■once again, you won’t be able to flash any CWM flashable zip to second ROM.
