H There, I've recently purchased an i9100 and have rooted it using chainfire kernal which was sucessful.
Now I've tried to flash the modem KG6 to improve internet speed. I followed the instructions (put the kg6 tar file in the phone section of odin, phone in download mode, phone recognised, pressed start) and fail. I tried the same method again and nothing. Removed the battery and turned on the phone and now I there is a phone symbol with a yellow triangle in the centre and a computer symbol next to that.
The phone wont boot up now but i can still get into download mode. Can anyone help with this situation
I'm on KE7 kernal if this helps

Thank you

This forum is for the galaxy s 4g sgh-t959v. Do not flash anything from this forum unless your phone model is exactly that. If you brick it's your own fault. Please find forums and files that are for your phone.

Well I feel a bit of a dork.....On the galaxy s2 forum I posted saying i had slow internet connection, slower than on my Moto Defy and someone sugested i flash the modem KG6 so I googled it and come up with the US site and assumed it was the same, flashed the modem and, no suprise, failed. I've learned from my mistake now though.

Give this a test.

If your signal is above -60 dBm then you have a strong connection. I think that the gingerbread wifi icon might be lying to you... But hey, test away.

I Odin'd the KH2 modem file and was wondering whether there's really any improvement over the KG6 modem. Here's my build set:

Baseband: KG6
Kernel: KG4
Build No.: ICBINB 2.3.4

I ran WiFi Analyzer and both are showing a signal strength of around -85db (the modem's on the 2nd floor of the house and approximately 20 feet away from my downstairs position). Both the KG6 and KH2 are reading about the same (which isn't all that great and causing problems with trying to call people using WiFi).

Do I need to update the Kernel to KG6 for that to make any difference in improvement? I'm somewhat resigned to wait for cm7 as it seems like every modem install I've tried has made little difference in improving WiFi connectivity but wanted to see if any one else had success. Thanks!

Dang, I was afraid that was going to be the case. Looks like I'll wait until cm7 is released.

Bluetooth Signal Strength

Do any of these have stronger Bluetooth signal? I am on KH2 and my headphones keep disconnecting. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Thanks

just a quick thanks to the OP for putting all of these here. I moved into my gf's condo this weekend, and it's really hard to get a signal inside her place. Unless you are right next to a window, there is no signal, and even then, it's spotty.

tested a bunch modems this weekend and settled on KD1. I can get 2 bars inside the condo now with the phone sitting on my desk. other modems I tested would fluctuate from 0-2 bars, and couldn't hold a steady connection.

So I am a happy camper!

Alright, finally got around to padding the rest of the modems that we had available for GB. I flash tested all of them in a low signal area and these are the two of this group that gave me the best signal:
    KC1
    KI1
Go ahead and test them yourself if you're in an area that you normally get no signal in.

Enjoy! They're all posted in the same location as the other padded modems.

Alright guys I finally got around to updating the modem zip files for MTD roms. I've been testing Erik/beastmode's Proton kernel and since he added TWRP 2.4.x (the JB version) I found out that I couldn't flash the padded modems. After a little investigation I found out that the update-binary was failing and complaining about an API change. I remembered reading about an API change to JB recoveries so Erik recommended I grab the update-binary from his JB Slim Beam and voila! it works fine on ICS/JB now.

I haven't yet tested the new MTD padded zips on CWM5/6 nor CM7 so if you guys can test those and report back here that'd be great. I have tested them successfully on TWRP 2.4 and 2.2 though so those are working fine. Enjoy!

Here's the link to the new mtd padded modems

    EDIT

By the way, you should probably not use the old cm7 padded modems since you won't be able to flash them for newer ICS/JB kernel builds. I'm not taking down the files to keep people from having broken links though.

Well, I finally got around to repackaging the modem files using the new flash script that should work on any ROM that is CM7 and newer! I know I said I'd have this for you guys months ago, I apologize for the wait.

I have even included a 7zip archive that contains all the zip files so you don't have to download them individually if you want the whole collection. I only flash tested 3 of the modems so if you run into any problems make sure you reply.
