Imagine how solving the wifi problem would be.. We would then have the posibility to enjoy real browsing using Firefox/Chrome, full flash support.. oh.. dreams.. :)

Ubuntu is an awesome OS. Maybe Canonical will help us with a wifi driver if we beg? A linux wifi driver would make this device very awesome :)

^^^ Bottomline is, I'd lend my device out to a known dev if they were serious. I'd prob be running a crappy old razor that is semi-working whilst that was going on though... but if it helps get the project going then cool.

This is excellent work so far!!! I've tested windows 95 and windows 98 and both lag more than linux. I was surprised at how fast linux was running and with resco explorer in the background on the windows mobile rom! I'd like to donate a little bit of money but only if people are serious about the project. Although there's still some work left to do, I think this OS could be stable very soon.

The display driver needs tweaking as it's flickering when the OS is idle.
Wifi would bring the OS to life, although I think 3G still does the job anyway. Having said that, i haven't tested 3G yet as don't have credit :D

Can someone tell me how to bring up the keyboard to type say when im in firefox? Want to set the home page to google and then activate my 3G and see if the page loads up as it should.

I take it as it's linux it's possible to get apps that we can get on windows eg yahoo messenger? This is the first time I've ever used linux so i don't know anything about it.

Keep up the great work and please let me know if work will be continuing as I'd love to have this on my phone! I'm a bit of an OS freak lol :D

I just discovered that if you hold down the camera button, this stops the screen from flickering. Why would that be? It sorts the problem of the flickering and still enables the OS to be used. Surely can't it be coded in the OS to be held down all the time to save us from physically holding it down?

Such a shame this seems to have died because it would have rocked our TG01 devices. No news or anything?

Unfortunately not mate.

I think it truly is the end if the TG01 development days.

Time to move on!

The last WM6.5 ROM was last year, and WP7 development remains incomplete, and the last activity was months ago.

I know that there will still be some hardcore TG01 fans such as Kevin, CrashMurdock & fxdjacenty though!

is it smooth? Can you use ubuntu software like gimp/chromium on it?

if it isn't smooth, maybe it will be easy to use the kernel to make puppy linux to work, which is very small and doesn't need too much resurces :)

    i supose wifi doesn't work..

It works as you see in the video, got into some issues with radio (it works but ****s up the framebuffer)

I gonna upload version 0.1 (Alpha), in case you have problems with the screen just do this:

when you start the phone, don't enter pin code when you're asked to provide it, and start haret :) you won't have radio capability but yea you will have a working Ubuntu that runs well :) beside you use it for apps :)

i wanna state that the next release won't be any time soon, i have some exams at the university, also:

-We will need a improved kernel, when Markinus comes back(reason why Android 2.3 won't work any time soon)
-I study a project on porting Android interface to a true Linux platform (yea porting Android interface or build one for Android)
-Ability to also run Android apps on Ubuntu ;)

so these are the next release plans :) i will work as much as i can on it, it's my dream to build a hybrid Ubuntu
