I do think its kernel related.. because in 2.0 the biggest change was the kernel. Everything else was just cosmetic changes. Instead of just turning the oc down, flash the stock kernel in the op and let me know if you still are getting the bootloop. I've been using the stock kernel and haven't had any bootloops. So I'd really like to find out for sure it is the kernel.

I was using this kernel with stock HC and i had no problems. I haven't switched off the tablet for a whole day. For now there are no problems. I had only one "bootloop" for now. I'm going to test v2.1 but it will took me some time for downloading (1 day i think). :}

When you update to 2.1 please try the stock kernel and let me know if you still get any bootloops.

Last night i started the download of v2.1 and when i wake up in the morning it was downloaded 170mb and the download was interrupted. I won't download it again till someone loves to seed and make a torrent file with the ROM. For v2.0 it took me 4-5 days, starting every night downloading. My net is unstable here. I have no choice with it.

Hello there. I absolutely love your rom, but...

I have been using it since 1.5 (wifi), coming from stock OTA HC and kernel, accustomed to being in AP mode the whole time. Flashing this rom made my battery life horrible, almost at like -1% every minute. I was holding on to the next update and flashed 2.0, but everything was still the same. I started messing around with jmz's integrated kernel to see if any settings were going to help my battery, only to find that things got worse.

I was lucky that I had made a backup of the previously installed stock rom, but once I got back to it, the poor battery life persisted. Is the rom or the kernel to blame? Right now I am back to that same stock HC but flashed jmz's kernel for the sake having hardware buttons, and will probably try the stock kernel again to see if things go back to normal.

I'm only wondering if v1.5 (wifi) could've messed my device's battery.

i have been using this rom sense it came out and never had a battery issue, the jmz kernel was just added in 2.0, you should check all your settings, like wifi scan interval

Thanks! Let me know. I know one guy said he hasnt had any problems with the OC, but we all have to remember not every chip is made the same. So some tablets will be able to handle the OC better than others.

The rom wouldnt mess up your battery. It sounds like you may have an app or something eating it. The jmz kernel does have overclocking by default I believe which would use more battery but not as much as you are describing. I'm using the stock kernel and havent noticed any bad battery drain. I would use an app like better battery stats to see if there is a rouge app that is eating though your battery

hmm I have no idea what would be causing that. I would try a full wipe and then reflash. I was able to just go into rom manager and fix permissions and it worked fine. I havent used memory boost.

A few people have PM'ed me asking about donating. Well, I dont/wont ever ask for donations and honestly I prefer to NOT get donations. I do this work first and for most for me(Yeah I'm a selfish bastard) so I can learn more, so I can make my device the way I want my device, I just decide to share what I make for myself instead of keeping it for myself (I'm selfish, not greedy) and I feel if people start donating they might get more demanding and feel more entitled so I'd rather just skip all of that potential drama. When it comes to requesting things in this rom, I will put them in IF it's something I would use myself. If it's not, then I most likely wont add it. So please dont donate to me, If you want to do some good instead of donating to me, donate to a worthy charity instead! Thank you all for using my rom!

I am sorry but I have to put my 2 cents in here. Graffixsync has alot more on his plate than you think. Someone can't spend their entire life helping people all day every day 24/7.. I have spent 132 hours within the last month and a half developing a tool that would simplify life for people and I try the best I can to support, correct, and update the tool. I have a cell phone so I have irc up all the time 24/7, I have 8 hours off a day (yes thats right the military makes me work anywhere from 12-15 hours a day) and I spend my free time helping people in this community. I spend my time and I get lots of thanks here and there but then I get those very few people who are ungrateful that say I'm not there (for that 3-6 hours that I sleep) and they rate my tool bad and very difficult to understand. We are only human, as developers we spend our "free time" helping the community and we are not always there. If I wanted to I could easily leave this forum and say forget this I quit at anytime and would feel no regret knowing that my tool is working and will be working for quite a while with no support. If I died in battle, training or in a car wreck and didnt show up here on the forums for weeks, months years... would you just say "close this thread the developers doesn't care anymore?" Leave this guy alone. I wouldn't blame him if he said "forget you" at any time. It's people like the "trolls" that make us developers not want to help people anymore.

Think before you post. Cause you might regret those words later.

Until you are a developer with 100's of request every hour of people wanting something from you don't talk crap toward us.

If it was something you paid for yes I would understand support daily but this is all free..

by the way you said "no one held a gun to their head to make the rom" well guess what buddy "NO ONE PUT A GUN TO THEIR HEAD AND MADE THEM FLASH THE ROM"

also if something is working fine the developer can step away for a while. If there is a problem (weeks later) it is the end users problem. It is not the rom.

It is kind of sad that so far EVERYBODY that has posted after you has posted negative comments about what you wrote so I think the majority vote wins on the point of "the developer doesn't have to support the product if its free"

I have recently talked to Graffixsync (within the last day) and he is busy right now. If you can just hold on he might help you.

Have u ever walked into a business and there's a sign that says "we can refuse service to anyone"?

I am going to cut off now because I know that I wouldn't want my forum to be turned into a flame fest.

And if anyone agrees with the last statement please don't post anymore comments to feed the trolls....if anything just do "thanks" on the posts you agree with to show the negativity instead of filling up the forums with stuff that doesn't pertain to making the rom better :)

Ok wow... I just read through the pages that I havent seen in since I've been around....

for 1. I do have a full time programming job, I also go to school at night full time which I'm taking calculus this semester and it's killing me.. I was suppose to get something to kevin last week but just didnt get around to it with all my studying. I have a psychology exam AND a calculus exam tomorrow. Plus my 14 year old daughter was getting into trouble and now she is living with me full time instead of her mom so the past month has been quite an adjustment for me considering I was "free" before and now I have my daughter here all the time. I'm also getting a side business off the ground to do rooting and flashing for noobs(and I'm talking noobs that know less than xda noobs) as well as writing for a android site AND also trying to find time for my music...

I dont even have time to beat off anymore let alone much of anything else..

This weekend I'm going to play catch up here on XDA As well as give Kevin something cool for his tool.

Now I really dont appreciate all the arguing in the thread. So if you guys could please just chill out and get back on topic I would appreciate it.

One thing I would like to address is people have been asking me about when the next update will come. Well honestly, with the HC rom I dont know of much more than can be done to improve it. It's not like there are new OTA's coming with updates. I have asked you guys what would you like to see in the next version but didnt get many responses. so I will ask again.. Knowing that there really havent been any official updates since. What would you guys like to see in the next version that's not in there now? And dont say ICS because that would be a completely different rom. So what are some things I can add to improve this rom?

Ok... So now I will address some of your questions and bickering

my g-sensor isn't working correctly after I flashed the rom. I tried to calibrate it but it seem like the calibrate isn't working correctly either, can someone help me?

Hmm that's odd.. I'm not having that problem at all.. My sensors are working perfectly..

just installed this on my view, LOVE it!! so far very smooth and quick.. I am a fan of sense but mostly for its features on my phone.. so this is great! I love it..

well Has anyone else noticed a huge decrease in battery life with this ROM? It is drain incredibly fast and charging ridiculously slow..?
has this happened to anyone? Is there any settings I can fix.. I have wiped eerything and reflashed it but still draining .. the number on battery goes down every time i look at!! lost 20% in about half an hour and the battery on this is normally pretty good..

    any help would be appreciated!!

other than this, I love this rom which is why I really hope there is a way to improve ;-)

Glad you like it! I havent experienced bad battery drain. As a matter of fact my battery life is pretty damn good. I would suggest getting the app better battery stats. It will help you identify any rouge apps causing battery drain. The says it is for GB but it works fine in HC. I use it all the time to help figure out what's draining my battery if I have bad battery drain

I have similar impressions - the battery graph seems to drop pretty steeply whenever the tablet is awake. I also noted that the "cell usage" bar is a solid orange (I did not flash the extra ZIP to enable the radio).

    See above

Gonna give this a try. I have a quick question. If I need the htc facebook sync added back, is it as easy as pushing the htcFacebook.apk file back to the system folder?

Yes, You should be able to just push the HTC FB app apk and it should work. All of the HTC framework is intact

I haven't flashed zip.. but I was under the impression that the radios aren't working because I have the wifi only version of ROM. Am I wrong in assuming this? If so where is the zip that I can flash?

The radios wont work if you just flash the rom, unless you flash the enable.zip, But GPS wont work as well (if at all) without the radio stuff because GPS depends on the radio to an extent

I must be missing something (wouldn't be the first time), but I can't see where in the stock Messaging app it allows me to attach pictures? I know I can because I did using Go SMS.

Anyone give me a heads up here? No attachment button anywhere I can see

I believe in the stock messaging app you press menu, then there is a menu item to attach a file.

    any future updates coming soon?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App

I'm trying to think now of what I can update ;)

I've used this rom for a week, the only problem is sms message always delay and will be sent after device restarted. I've flash the enable4g.zip right after flashed the rom.

Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk

hmm I dont use 4g at all, so That I cant help with. :( sorry, Maybe one of the guys that has 4G service can better answer that and chime in.

Well I guess the developer has abandoned his work here. It seems like most roms for the View have been abandoned by their developers. Thanks Viper for keeping up with yours. Now could you please create an HC rom for us? :)

Too bad. I guess that's what we get for buying a relatively obscure device. If only HTC hadn't wildly overcharged for this device from the start they might have had a real winner on their hands here.

I have tried all the 7 inch tablets and IMHO the View is by far the superior product. I LOVE the pen input. This rom is awesome except for not being able to attach images to texts when using the stock messaging app (wish I could get an answer on that).

Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk

I didnt abandon anything, I've been busy.. Are you paying my salary? Are you paying my rent? Are you even making a donation? no, So I'm sorry to sound like a **** but I dont owe you or anyone anything. I did this rom because I wanted a rom with as much sense ripped from it as I could get. After I did it for my own use I shared it with everyone. When I first was working on it there were updates every day or every couple of days. Now that's it's been pretty stable there is no need to update it that often. If there is a huge update of apps for HC (which there wont be anymore) I would incorporate them into the rom but there havent been any significant updates

He was just on the thread Feb 9th. Give the guy a break. I imagine he also has a paying job.

sent from my EVO 4G running ICS

    TY!

Oh I'm sorry. The developer visited his thread only 8 days ago. How dare I believe he abandoned it - facepalm.

I posted a question in Vipers rom and he answered it THAT day.

I have asked a simple question about a major feature of this rom twice now over a period of many days. If the developer is not prepared to support his product and answer questions about it he should not post. Coming around every 2 weeks is not sufficient for a developer. People are counting on their work and need their input.

I am not complaining about the SMS app, just asking a simple question about it which I cannot seem to get answered.

I also pm'd the developer regarding the SMS issue and no response.

Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk

I dont recall seeing a PM from you, but honestly I'm VERY bad at the whole PM thing.. Sometimes I dont check my PM's for weeks..

I am going to give this rom a try. I have a quick question. After flashing the 1.5, I flash the enable4g.zip to get the 3g and 4g service back. Will I need to go ahead and update the profile after it boots?

I would update your prl and profile after enabling that stuff

Actually, as a developer we have no responsibility to help those with issues. Thats the beauty of us being non-professional developers. We basically can drop something off and then say "figure it out" there is a bit of a rule when asking for help, if they decline or don't reply, you better learn to troubleshoot. I just became a developer a few months ago and until that, I was an end user. You know how many times I posted my issues with a rom? None. Because if something doesn't work, I see why. Such as if it was my fault or not. If it was, I fix it and move on. If nothing is wrong due to me, I'll wait quietly if I see the issue is known and wait for an update. Users like you make me regret learning this much about android sometimes. We do this for the community, not ungrateful idiots like you.
