Here ya go... worked fine for me but no guarantees.... as usual, use at your own risk.

update.zip <- will work for a bit again (as of June 2 2012)

Lets see how long the bandwidth lasts!

thanks, so this is the official OTA... and we just flash through stock recovery?

So you just did:
1/ rename the file as : update.zip
2/ place the file on the micro sd card
3/ turn off the tablet
4/ press the down volume key and the power button at the same time untill the tablets turns on
5/ the iconia will start the upgrade process by itself.

To install this one? I wonder if it will work on a com_gen1..

Yes.... that's what to do.

Should work on gen1... mine was gen2 on 3.2
Then I used all the leaks that were gen1
Now I am cus1

Thanks a ton! I had the WW_GEN1 leaked ICS from March and wasn't receiving the OTA. This installed perfectly using the method described

I am in the US eastcost. This is my info from the Tablet I captured the image from.

Before: 3.2.1 Acer_A500_7.014.02_COM_GEN2
After: 4.0.3 Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1

This image file really helps.

Compare to ICS COM_GEN1 image file, PA_CUS1 did not bind EC firmware update in it.
Maybe it will (or won't?

) cause some problems and we will know it later.

Maybe I should use "include"...

For Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1 image file, it also include "EC firmware" update binary in EC\ec.rom & EC\EC_flash and it will done in update progress.

But related binary did not include in PA_CUS1 image file.

I don't really know why they remove EC firmware update in PA_CUS1 image...
Maybe they already done this in 3.1 or 3.2 update for COM_GEN2 user before?

Anyway, I 'll use this image as well.

update problem

Hi, I've downloaded the update.zip file, copy to sd card but do I must unzip the file in the SD car or keep the file in zip mode. When I push on Power and down volume key , the a500 start normaly, without a recovery screen or update

Please Help

Leave as zip... must be in the root of SD... not in any folder.
Press and hold until u c small writing on screen.
Make sure is vol down.... not up.
Do while power is plugged in.

EC = Embedded Controller
It's a silicon chips used for low level power control in computer systems.

EC Firmware, the software who really control the EC working, it works independent to the operation system.

EC Firmware Update, update new EC firmware which include bugfix, bugfix, bugfix and bugfix...
Sometimes OS will require specific EC firmware version to implement some special method, but that is another case.

Because EC firmware update means there is bugfix or control method update in it.
That's why PA_CUS1 did not include these files really make me confused.

Leave it zipped.
You must press and hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time.
When you see the acer sign release just the power button.
Then you will see erasing cache now let go of the volume down button.
The volume down button is the button nearest to the power button.
Hope this helps.

That is strange that it is in one update and not the other.
Maybe one of the "power/guru developers" can explain why?

For better or worse I updated my A500 and while the update worked, I ran into the dreaded reboot loop. To fit is I had to do a factory reset on my tablet (maybe there is another way?). Now I'm copying everything back to my tablet (because I copied all the visible folders to my pc before starting).

I've likely lost my paradise island progress and swtor keygen save stuff.

Was: Acer_A500_7.014.14_com_gen1
Now: Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1

Regardless, everything else seems fine.

Worked for me, upgrade me from Leaked ICS 0.09 or whatever it was. Im glad to see this work as I could not receive the OTA push.

Worked perfectly for me - only thing that isn't working so far is Tiger Woods 2012.
Have tried everything but am now guessing it isn't compatible with ICS.
Anyone else encounter this?
