Hi,
Just wondering how to boot a 100% stock z1c into recovery? Does the bootloader need to be unlocked? Some instructions said to press volume up or down a few times when the notification light comes on, but the light doesn't turn on.
Sorry for the newbie question...

There is no stock recovery. You can install a custom recovery (e.g. CWM, TWRP, etc.) without unlocking the bootloader. There are a few tutorials on the forum.

That explains it! Thanks Chief.

It looks like unlocking the bootloader then installing Cwm is the easiest way to go. I'm not interested in Drm.

Yeah, I'm tinkering with it. I thought that much was obvious!

Hi zxz

Could you please tell me where the tutorials are? I'm unable to find them:(

Thanks a lot:good:

As far as I understand you have to root your device first to install a recovery - i might be wrong though ;)

Try here for a foolproof rooting method:

In the "What you can do next" section there is a link to NUTs dualrecovery - works like a charm and is reaally easy to install.

Thank you xCJ999,

I'm just wondering that if it possible for me to install only one CWM recovery without unlocking the bootloader?

Cheers

uhm, not sure I understand what you want ... cwm recovery without twrp? what would be the downside of being able to choose between 2 recoveries?

You can install dualrecovery without unlocking your bootloader and get both philz & twrp. There is a link for installing cwm:

But for that one you need to unlock your Bootloader.
