what? what allshare dongle?

I'll give it a try and see if anything changes
EDIt: just gave it a test, fixed permissions in recovery and so far haven't had an FC when using s-note functions...
anything specific you're doing? let me know so I can see if I can reproduce it.

actually I got an email from tmobile informing me that when the new "unlimited 4G" kicks in I'll loose the ability to tether for free. currently I have a couple days left before they take that feature away from me. I believe it's why a lot of people could tether without problems because it comes with the service they're paying for.

It's already kicked in..... I paid my bill and they updated my plan to the unlimited 4g. It's been that way for weeks and I've yet to lose the ability to tether..... Idk but it's been flawless... I'll wait and see though

Do you guys think that saber is better than jedi x? In terms of battery life?

Re: |ROM| Jedi Master 9 || SaberKernel_10.2 || 2|1

Quick newb question.

If I wanna go from jedi x to saber. Instead of wiping the entire rom. Can I just dirty flash over the master rom? I feel like the battery is little worse in jedi x vs saber previously.

Thanks!

Nothing specific really. Just noticed 1 time after i flashed a nandroid of jedi 8 "still happens on Jedi 9 also", and fixed permissions, put the S-note widget on my screen & it just hung there without opening for 3-6 seconds then it force closed. Even just choosing it in the app drawer had the same result. To check other ways to see if it would still happen, I flashed the ROM, just went back into recovery and fixed permissions to see if it happened, & still force closed with no mods. Like i mentioned though everything is fine after 1st boot up when fixing permissions as advised in the op. It's just if i have to do it anytime after that 1st boot, no matter what reason i fix permissions for, my S-note functions force close. To try it another way, i flashed different mods 1 by 1 after flashing the ROM, seeing im a flashaholic, lol, & after flashing every mod separately, still S-note functions force closed, & still force close if i reset S-note in the app manager. The main reason i usually fix permissions, is if i flash a mod and notice weird things like low signal or other things, if i fix permissions i get my good signal back and everything else that might go wacky, only problem is i lose S-note functions.
  • Not to sound like Mr. know it all cause there's always something new to learn about everything, but im pretty smart at this stuff, cause once i started flashing Roms, rooting my phones & all, i got hooked & for about 1yr I'd sometimes stay up for days at a time themeing & doing other things with Roms & learned from alot of smart devs, not gonna start name dropping though, lol. But that was till i recently just had my 1st child in Nov, now most my free time after work goes to that, lol. But with that said, I don't know the real reasoning behind fixing permissions. I know it's a different phone but when i had my HTC Sensation if we had low signal or data we would fix permissions and it would fix all that, like it also does when i have those problem with my Note 2. Sorry for the long post here you all, this is just something im not understanding. I was using the last version of cwm recovery before the one released specifically for the t-mo note 2 so maybe it could be that. I just flashed the newer touch cwm recovery today and made a new nandroid so im going to fix permissions after flashing the nandroid back in a couple hrs and see what happens. Thanks for your help though and i'll let you know what happens. :)

You mean X vs Master? Saber is kernel not rom. And no you can dirty flash between X and Master. Two days base

I had an htc sensation for a year and a half and never had to fix permissions. I flashed new roms daily... something must've been wrong with your sensation

Dude seriously. 1st i had a nice long response back to that but after seeing how many times you posted and seeing what you posted i realized that there's no reason to even send that response back in here due to the fact that if you would have read the op as much as me and probably everyone else in here, you would know that this thread is not about trying to top who knows more than anyone else but about helping out eachother. But this conversation was with me and someone else figuring out why fixing permissions is causing my perfectly running no problem having g-note 2 to lose all s-note functions when fixing permissions. No need to get into everything i did for that other phone which is the main reason i said i wasn't going to get into name dropping on devs or even getting into my old screen name which i changed accounts all together from after yrs due to all the Dic#$ and mr know-it-alls in the Sensation forums i got sick of. If you never had to fix permissions on your sensation than your the one who must have had alot of problems with your phone. Don't take me saying i don't get the whole thing behind fixing permissions as actually not knowing why you use the fix permissions function in recovery, just didn't know if it did something extra seeing this is a whole entire different phone in many ways. So unless this has anything to do with the problem at hand then hopefully you can just leave it at that just like i am going to right now.

I know you may have already done this but have you Odin'd back to stock and then reinstall.... sounds like some file did not get written properly...

Has this happened to anyone else's toggles? I always have to go into an app and rotate to get it back to normal. Been happening on every version I've used. Might be a problem with the app and not the rom but I'm not sure.

Jedi Council's Guide to Thread Participation":

"A Jedi trusts the Force and first seeks other ways to resolve problems: patience, logic, tolerance, attentive listening, negotiation, persuasion, and calming techniques."

Generally speaking, we are a pretty calm group of people, but as with so many other things in life, there are those that evoke a negative response from the very start. THAT is why we are such believers in maintaining a polite, respectful thread. Most everyone here is eager to help, and the only thing we ask is (despite the associated tedium) read the entire thread, it can only help. If and when you are still stuck, feel free to ask questions, we're all here to help one another.

    Hey guys!!!

Thanks to my friends in the council, most of you are aware that things are extremely hectic at this point for me, rendering it almost impossible to continue this work at this time...
    BUT...
I am also aware that there are thousands of you who literally rely on my work as your only ROM/Kernel and I feel that I need to honor that loyalty and do my best to continue. With this all in mind, I am and will be working my hardest to update as often as possible but this will mean alot of completely sleepless nights, etc and every bit of support will always be appreciated.

I will not be able to answer many questions at all or even drop in very often but will whenever the possibility arises... I hope you all can understand and help eachother as much as possible as the council strives to do daily
