Look at the above, the unibody is the back metal molded with the plastic and clearly gapless as described, its clear the speakers covers are not part of this unibody, in other words the unibody is the backplate one piece with the plastic frame and the device internals are placed within

Every device called unibody, had also parts that are glued what matter is the main shell that is holding the device internals, which is indeed unibody, we saw the speakers clearly glued in the Jonas photos, so this is it, this is by design

Unibody back molded with the plastic frame, gapless, the glued screen plus metal speakers protection

The iPhone 5 is unibody but the screen and back antenna plastic plates are also glued, the desire HD and One S as well, as long as you have a one piece housing (in our case back plate molded with plastic frame) it can be called unibody

Don't expect this to change, HTC will not redesign it's phone, what's going on is that some devices are imperfectly glued and slipping the QA

It's also a fact that there is always some expansion with glued parts, this happens on the One X where the heat can expand the polycarbonate away from the metal rim and then back when it cools (I've always had it on the left of my One X above the usb port due to charging heat, yet my One X survived the most deadly falls without a scratch) however glue settles better with the passage of time and not the inverse

So you really need to judge for yourselves, as long as the parts are aligned and fit, the part is solid ie not moving or loose, its OK the hairline gap is OK

Bad Overhangs, misalignment and most importantly looseness however should be inspected and considered for return

Nothing will change in future batches except improved glue monitoring and stricter QA, the device will not be redesigned, the speakers plates will remain separate parts and only the shell is unibody

I really hope you listen to reason and relax with the OCD

There was a miserable batch during the One X launch where the laminated gorilla glass came off and that's a real defect, just like Jonas' and not most of the cases posted here
