hi dear friend. i appreciate your concern and support. i think i did everything correct.
1. yes i formattied it.
2. i did flash using hspl though. bcos due to some reason my phone does not anyway synchronise with my win7 laptop, and the advanced ruu did not work with the xp computers i checked. so did the hspl method.
3. yes i did a hard reset and soft too.
4. actually i couldnt check the battery. as it was doing hard resets every 10 to 12 hours, it wouldnt have been very reliable. but guess it was good battery life.

perhaps as skyguar said it is a problem with nk.exe. too bad mr.sternas doesnt have a tmous

thanks very much for your advice all the way.
regards.

OK my friend,

at least we have checked/excluded all the possible causes for freezes, etc. Too bad it won't work, you were sooooo close!!

best regards, Kuzibri

The software has started showing it's age but still manages to impress me, started with windows mobile on my xda atom ~2004, and still love it.

The only part where i feel android (ics with hwa), windows phone and iOS beat windows mobile is ui fluidity, for some reason, wm though runs rock solid on leo, looks laggy-ish with animations skipping frames even with turbo3d :(

Hi,

what do you mean by "looks laggy-ish" with animations skipping frames even with turbo3d"??
My Artemis ROM is fast as hell and not sluggy at all, but I must admit I tweaked it to the outmost!!

the start menu appears like they are writing to raw framebuffer instead of using dma from the mdp/gpu. the scrolling is also not as fluid compared to that in ics, ios or even windows phone. The top bar flickers when icons change which again tells us they are updating needless screen area which could have saved them some efficiency. Although I don't have much experience in tweaking wm since i was kinda new to the os and switched to android since i wanted to learn more about linux (as the kernel is open sourced and not because android is open source or has more/better/cheap apps)

If any of first page links don't work
please post the problem here
==========================

Sternas, FYI, was just checking some of the links and the following appear to have the following problem:
In the HELP section, links 3 and 4 have this error:

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /artemis/fixes/ on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2 Server at www.pilotlogic.com Port 80"

Number 1 and 2 work OK.
This is of course only for me, I cannot speak for other users.

Hi guys,
First big thanks to Sternas for his job during last years
I got a question for you guys : got my 2 HD2 since ... huh ... long time, I have Artemis since v6 and tested all the versions
BUT one has the windows broken, I saw the video on how to change it and well it looks like too dificult for my big fingers and my little patience ;) (ps : if somebody in France know where to repair it for not lot $ please let me know)
The second one works well with v66 but now I'm really thinking to change and get a new phone. I'm not really apple addict so I don't like the 4s, I long waited a good new HTC and saw the one X. but well Android ... how can I say I like the windows of my HD2 and all the bugs :)
so now I really don't know what is the best to do ? to wait little more and get the one XL (better than the X ?), to wait that Sir Sternas makes a Artemis for the One X ? ;) well maybe it's not the good spot to put all my questions but I really like Artemis but I would like to have a better phone with a better camera. and to know what people like me are changing for ?
Thanks again
Peter

I really understand your dilemma! Wait for a new version of Artemis ROM or buy a new device like the HTC One X. The One X is a beautiful device equipped with the best Android version so far. But. I still love my HD2 and have an SD ICS Version running on it with full capacity (which device can do that????). My opinion would be: As long as your HD2 still works, stay with Artemis and wait for the new version, but if you want to try Android, use this link for an SD Card version:
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1492488, using post2 the unofficial AOKP 34 version. I'm convinced you will like that and gives you the opprtunity to explore Android (mind you that a ported version is something different from the real one!!)

Here are just my 2cents.
I still use my HD2 (with Android) and will do so until it dies. I have test driven the One X, which is an absolutely magnificent device and will be my replacement. With regards between Windows Mobile 6.x and Android, I prefer Android a million times more. It is maybe not so stable on the HD2 (keeping in mind the device was developed for Windows Mobile) but on the One X it is strong an stable and highly customizable. The only reason I would go back to Windows Mobile is for nostalgia and... well there is no other reason. There is nothing that Windows Mobile does for me ME that Android does not do as well and better.
I am glad that the hardcore Windows Mobile users still have Artemis although it seems it is coming to an end as its user base seems to drop. I am sure there will be many feisty "not true comments" to this but it is inevitable.
Anyway, just my 2cts.

You know I'm an Artemis addict for a very long time now and this will stay so for as long as Sir Sternas makes news ROM's for the HD2, but I'm not blind, so I will not comment with the "not true comments". IMO, you're right all the way. The One X is a fabulous device and Android, certainly with ICS, has matured in a gigantic way. I also observe that users make other choices than Artemis ROM and that the time lapse between new Artemis versions is getting longer and longer, but nevertheless as long as my HD2 is still alive, it will be equipped with Artemis ROM without any doubt ;) . Yes, I also use ICS Android SD ROM on my HD2 to get accustomed to it, but this is still a hell lot of a difference to using a real Android device like the HTC One X. I'm also convinced that when my HD2 dies, Android will be the next OS and certainly the One X!!!!

best regards, Kuzibri - Artemis addicct since version 9!!!!!!!

I'm Artemis addict too, and I will still have my hd2 nearby and install a new version if it comes out. I'm using some progs since long years and it is really enough for me, like shazam, Igo (not sure I will get it to work with android ...). I like the all in one way, who thought long years ago when we had some Motorola phones (lol) that one day we will have in our pocket a 130 gr phone that is a video camera, photo camera, a great large GPS, a good flashlight (very usefull), mp3 reader, internet on board ... ?
I like the way one X is making pictures, slowmotion, pics on video already made or in live, 8mg pix quality, large screen ... but ... I love the way I can change my batterie, I use the phone hardly and need sometimes 3 bateries in a day when I'm out, can't do that with one x
Would be great to have a one x with artemis and windows ;)
my 2 cents ...

it will never die, mine droped hundred times on the floor and only once I broke the glass ... it's just a good phone :)
Haha, so true, I've dropped my phone from the first floor on to hard concrete once, while using it in the balcony, Just had a few scratches on the chasis and battery cover (that too without any case/protection). I was truely amazed to see that the screen had no scratches at all and nothing was broken, fixed the battery cover by applying a decal :D

Also the reason why i won't be trusting my money with samsung for a long time to come.

Hello everybody,

it's been a long time, since i posted something to this thread...
...but I never stopped reading and help was also given by others (and espacially by the one we all know very well :) ).

I had to switch to Nandroid about Christmas for some business tests.
SD-Andoid was no option for long time tests and buying a Adroid-phone was to expensive, if the tests wouldn't result in success.
I tested many different Android-ROMS for our HD2 until I found a relative stable one.
But there were some things I had to learn: battery consumption is higher, synchronizing with Outlook is an adventure if you also try to synchronize with google, appointments are without categories and so on.

After the tests were successful I had to make a decision: switching back to Artemis and losing the needed apps and functions, keeping Nandroid
or how i acted, switching back to Artemis for private use and buying a Android-phone for business use.

But there was the next decision: which device to buy!
An elderly model but cheap, single, dual or quad core, small and handy or big and eye-friendly, sd-card slot or built-in memory, camera resolution, ...?

After a few weeks of reading tech specs, tests and customer reports I had four devices to choose from: HTC One S, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S2 or Samsung Galaxy Note
And after spending an afternoon at the cell phone shop of my confidence playing with all four devices at the same time I chose the HTC One S.

This was a personal decision according to my needs.

Sorry for being off topic, but after I read the last few pages I thought to share my experiences with the Artemis family.

Best regards
Uli

Goldcard method - install Artemis v.4x - v.7x on your branded Leo (no HSPL needed)

I suggest using Artemis v.4x/v.5x/v.6x/v.7x ROM with HSPL4 (HSPL 3.03). So its not necessary to use the goldcard method.

If you want to use the goldcard method please move forward with my guide...

Cause many users ask me how to flash their operator branded Leo (aka HD2) with the goldcard method, I decided to write a short tutorial, which is a little bit different from the others in the forum.

The reason for this guide is that operator branded Leos (e. g. T-Mobile UK, Orange, etc. - see available 3.14 ROMs here!) don't work very well with the great Artemis v.4x/v.5x/v.6x/v.7x ROM until you haven't updated your Leo to SPL 3.03.0000 from 3.14 Stock ROM. Thes simplest way to use the necessary SPL version 3.03 is to flash HSPL4 (HSPL 3.03) on your Leo. Beside HSPL you can flash Artemis v.4x/v.5x/v.6x ROM (which is based on 3.14 ROM), until your operator has not published an official 3.14 ROM, with the goldcard method. With the goldcard method you are able to flash any 3.14 ROM (and older) without HSPL on your branded Leo. Attention: If you use Artemis v.4x/v.5x ROM in combination with HSPL2/3 you will notice some errors like low RAM etc.

If you have an unbranded (original HTC) Leo or your operator provide you a 3.14 ROM, you don't have to follow my guide. Please go directly to the nice Artemis flash tutorial by user scv http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=8776196&postcount=26465.

    What you need:

    1. microSD card (some users reported issues with microSD card size bigger than 8 GB - btw. I've used a 2 GB SanDisk microSD card)
    2. The "PSAS" Software: http://psas.revskills.de/?q=node/6 - (RevSkills 2.x free version)

Please read the following lines carefuly! Its important for your success to follow step by step!

    microSD card "flash" procedure:

    1. Download and install the PSAS free Version mentioned above: http://psas.revskills.de/?q=node/6
-- The goldcard generator you'll find on psas.revskills.de is for Android and Windows Phone 7 only!
    2. Backup all files from your microSD card you need later! Please remember that all files and settings from your Leo will lost due to the flash procedure!
    3. Format your microSD card with FAT32 file system.
-- In my experience it doesn't matter if you format it via card reader/Windows or via Leo.
    4. Input the microSD card in your Leo.
    5. Connect your Leo via USB with your PC and choose Active Sync on your Leo.
-- Make sure, that you have access to your Leo/microSD card via Windows Explorer!
    6. Open PSAS with administrative privileges and choose « Hardware Forensics » - « WINCE SD Card Utils ». Click on « Get Serial and Disk ID ».
    7. Notice which Hex-Code is written in the field « SD Card Serial » (CID) by choosing the right size of your microSD card by using the drop-down menu of the « SD Card Serial » field (mostly « Disk ID 07 »).
    8. You now can choose between the following:
      • Very often the CID is 9E000000400000000000020002000000. You can download the goldcard image file for this CID (9E0000004...) here: http://www.oliver-weidel.de/download/htc_goldcard/9E000000400000000000020002000000.zip. After download, please rename the file e. g. to "goldcard.img" (dont try to extract the ZIP-file!) and move forward to step 9.
      • If your CID is not 9E000000400000000000020002000000 than you have the choise:
        a) Buy PSAS licence (30 €) and create a goldcard image by yourself
        b) Write a nice private message to me with your CID ;)
    9. After you generate/receive your goldcard.img, in PSAS go to « Hardware Forensics » - « WINCE SD Card Utils » and click on « Get Serial and Disk ID » again. Choose your microSD card and click on « Write Image File ». Now choose your goldcard image and "flash" it on your microSD card.
-- If you got a message, that its not successful, than close PSAS, disconnect USB from your Leo and connect USB again. Start PSAS (as admin) and try again!
    10. Close PSAS and move forward to the Artemis flash tutorial by user scv: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=8776196&postcount=26465

Make sure that you insert your microSD card (goldcard) in your Leo during the flash of Stock ROM - at bullet point 4 in user scv tutorial!

    Questions and Answers:
    • "Is the goldcard method somehow effecting the device? Will I lose my guaranty if I have to send my HD2 back to repair?"
-- No, it doesn't alter the phone, it just bypasses the checks (thanks to user samsamuel). If you have to send it to repair, easily install any Stock ROM from your operator.
    • "HSPL can be removed, but is this really 'debranding' or just flashing on a still branded device?"
-- A goldcard is a microSD card with a special signature in the master boot record, which turns the region check off to flash the HTC device with any ROM. So, the goldcard only temporary disable the region check if the custom microSD card is present in the Leo during upgrade.
    • "Is it neccessary to do task29 anymore?"
-- Using the goldcard method (flash 3.14 HTC Stock ROM) before the SSPL flash (Artemis v.4x/v.5x/v.6x) is the perfect replacement for task29 as it erases every part of the ROM (tanks to user pcwe and Cuthy).
    • "Must the goldcard always be present in my Leo?"
-- No, the goldcard have only be inside your Leo during the flash procedere of the original HTC 3.14 Stock ROM.

Hope this tutorial will help some people. If you need further assistance, dont hesitate to post your problems in the forum.
