and based on the size/name/etc, I'm assuming this is the biggie, flash everything back to stock, ultimate backup file we've been needing?

30 down, but only 6 up lol. Slowly making it to my MF account....

And I saw it over an hour ago, so....

Please excuse my ignorance... but how is this file/image different from the fast boot/FXZ file released back in September or October?

Are these any better? is it a different kind of image?

This is the FXZ package for the 5.5.893 update. If you took the OTA update, you can no longer revert to stock or even fix something if it goes wrong by using the original 5.5.886 FXZ package. This is where this updated FXZ really comes in handy.

No one has actually tried it yet (that I know of), but my theory is that since 5.5.901 uses the same bootloader as 5.5.893, it theoretically should work perfectly fine, as reverting to this 5.5.893 kernel show not throw any boot load errors at all, and thus it should be a painless revert, unlike with 5.5.886.

I have work today or else I'd try it and see.

all of my uploads froze to a standstill overnight... :(

My upload of this file to my MediaFire account kept restarting - one time I though I had it and it was at friggin 98% and BAM! - restart lol....

I gave up last night, going to try again now.

I actually think it will require flashing the .901 cdt.bin after running this file over a 5.9.901 installation. We found that was necessary after reverting from .901 using the manual methods developed prior to this release.

But it worked this time - http://www.mediafire.com/file/9y7kepv2jv25hht/VRZ_XT875_5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01.xml.zip

Ahhh, that makes sense.

What exact is that file, though?

Has anyone yet used this and verified that it is legit?

There are multiple systems to come and go from, and that makes a big difference too.

I used it last night and it works great.

from what system to 5.5.893?

Here's my take:

OK, from Thom's informative post, Here: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/438060-bionic-reference-terms-links.html

Here is the data:

5.5.893 ... production OTA - release 2011.12.12
5.5.893T875.Verizon.US - System version
2.3.4 - Android version
CDMA_N_03.1C.57Rltedc_u_05.15.01 - Baseband version
WT-1.3.0-108_DBN-21 - Webtop version
2.6.35.7-g68606e6 - vwm736@il93lnxdroid43 #1 - Kernel version
5.5.1_84_DBN-62 - Build number

5.7.893
5.7.893.XT875.Verizon.US - System version
2.3.4 - Android version
CDMA_N_03.1C.57R LTEDC_U_05.15.02 - Baseband version
WT-1.3.0-108_DBN-21 - Webtop version
2.6.35.7-g68606e6 - vwm736@il93lnxdroid43 #1 - Kernel version
5.5.1_84_DBN-62_MR-11 - Build number

5.8.894
5.8.894.XT875.Verizon.US - System version
2.3.4 - Android version
CDMA_N_03.1C.57RLTEDC_U_05.15.03 - Baseband version
WT-1.3.0-108_DBN-21 - Webtop version
2.6.35.7-g68606e6 - hpn683@il93lnxdroid29 #1 - Kernel version
5.5.1_84_DBN-62_MR-2 - Build number

5.9.901 ... leaked OTA (a first) ... 2011.12.19
5.9.901.XT875.Verizon.US - System version
2.3.4 - Android version
CDMA_N_04.06.00R LTEDC_U_07.1E.00 - Baseband version
WT-1.3.0-108_DBN-24 - Webtop version
2.6.35.7-g83fla47 - vwm736@il93lnxdroid43 #1 - Kernel version
5.5.1_84_DBN-70 - Build number

As you can see 5.7.893 differ only in system version and baseband, so the FXZ should work perfectly fine.

5.8.894 has a different kernel email address but the same version, so theoretically it should work too.

5.9.901 is the only real drawback here that may require some significant (or perhaps not that much once the steps are worked out) to revert.

Can anyone confirm the 5.8.894 and 5.9.901 methods yet?

Also, if you're on 5.5.886 non-stock (as in having removed some apps), will this work, as I'm not sure if the bootloader gets updated or not, and if it does not, will this then throw a boot error?

---------- Post added at 02:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:42 PM ----------

I'm still on 886, when I flash this in rsd lite it will put me on 893 with the new radios and bootloader correct?

Just asked this as well - hoping for some confirmation as I have no way of reverting to 5.5.886 b/c of the updated bootloader....
