On my factory battery (almost a year now) I can get 5-6 hours of continuous on screen. I've been catching up on the sopranos lately on my phone and I'll watch 5-6 episodes straight - each episode varying from 50mins-1hr. And I will still have some battery life after that. I will try to take a screenshot of the stats on my next marathon...:D

I get no service at school

Test it out of school :p. All my tests so far have been in school with a crappy 2-3 bar reception. So I only get like 3.5 hours on-screen time... the weekend is here so I can try my set up finally. If it does poorly I'm going back to Lionheart

Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
GummyNex (4.0.4 - 102)
Matrix Kernel (CFS - 19.0)
smartassV2 tweak (1000/200)
Deep Idle (On - Noop)

Lol. Wonder how he ended up here :p . I went back to my little Samsung battery for a bit. Not testing anything as of now. Back on Simple Kernel. May give the test a go again if I have nothing to do.

Half way through I could already tell Lazy would not be that great... Ondemand now... then lion heart last. Don't use deep idle. It drains more than it saves.

Okay Lion heart is the only thing that gives me about 4 hours of on-screen use. And it is really smooth! So I'll post screens later, can't on mobile XDA ...

Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
GummyNex (4.0.4 - 102)
Matrix Kernel (CFS - 19.0)
Lionheart tweak (1000/100)
Deep Idle (Off - Noop)

It's not good for battery at all - more for smoothness and freedom from bugs.

Isn't that the kernel you're using? If it isn't good for battery how'd you get that...? I just got 4 hours and 25 minutes. I'll post screens when I can

Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
GummyNex (4.0.4 - 102)
Matrix Kernel (CFS - 19.0)
Lionheart tweak (1000/100)
Deep Idle (Off - Noop)

The teuv version is under locked to 880 and is also undervolted. I actually really smooth and I can continually use my phone and not have to worry about battery.

I think its good on battery. A lot of battery usage comes from stupid wake locks. That really only matters if youre trying to get good screen on time with a long time off the charger. I'm having some trouble trying to figure out where mine are coming from because I loose too much when the phone is sitting idle with the screen off. I bet you could get a pretty decent screen on time if you used an underclocked kernel and used a screen filter.

Ok! I'll copy that and try out my batterylife again :) thank you so much!

Don't expect too much battery life boost from a governor as yet. Most conventional methods i've played with only make noticeable differences in very specific situations (e.g. 400mhz being most efficient with screen off and DI playing music). Lots of variables to take into account, mostly with saving power while idling i'd say.

So long as your phone sleeps like a baby with the screen off you'll get great battery life. Still trying to track down some things which seem to prevent this almost randomly. Maybe i'll give autostarts a workout to aid me after my exams.

To squeeze my i9023 to 5 hours screen time at on charge, takes a few tweaks.
Tasker handles most of it automatically. When connected to wifi, i use 2G only. Outside my house i'm on 3G and wifi off. Sync turned on for 5 min. every 30 min. Flightmode at night. GPS is normally turned off. Only auto backlight when i'm outside.
I've overclocked the phone to 100/1200 and use the smartass2 governor.
The phone is about a year old.

You should get better battery stats if you haven't already. I've had issues with Android system doing crap like that. Mine was narrowed down to a sync loop wake lock. I ended up stopping the actual Android system and it went away. I also unchecked and checked my Gmail sync and the problem hasn't come back. That app should help you out. Once you figure out the issue, head over to the thread for it. They're pretty helpful.
