That's flashify.
You have to be rooted in order to use flashify and flash recovery.
I believe you can enable it from CM11 from developer options.

I may be wrong on the unrooting, especially for this tablet. I thought I did a factory reset once for something else and it lost root. I would try using the rooting tool, they usually have an unroot option. Otherwise, use LG's tool to flash a 4.2.2 stock kdz. See http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=51466025.

Ah thanks. Oddly that guide I posted doesn't mention that :-|

A few questions regarding the steps please:
If you come from stock 4.4.2, you need to use the ioroot method to root.
I presume I follow the instructions here to install IORoot, under the DIRECTIONS section? - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2703825

3) I don't think CWM supports this tablet anymore. Use TWRP 2.7.0.1
1. Do I follow the instructions under the section "If you are on the 4.4.2 OTA this is the build you want:" in this link here? - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2551499
2. It says to also follow the instructions in STEP 3 here if you don't yet have TWRP installed? - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2698267.
3. Is that correct? My LG G Pad is a UK Wifi only edition running 4.4.2 OTA remember.
4. I presume it's okay to use TWRP 2.7.0.1? I've read I need TWRP 2.6.3.1 for the LG G Pad (or does that refer to the G Pad running 4.2.2?).

Sorry it's getting a little confusing. Thanks again.

I didn't go through stock 4.4.2, so this is just guess work based on some research I did back then.

1) Root with this: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2703825
2) Install flashify and backup stock recovery
3) Install TWRP using step 3 in http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2698267
4) Update TWRP to 2.7.0.1 to resolve the dimming issue with the "4.4.2-v500-TWRP_2.7.0.1-recovery.zip" file in http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2551499. You can either flash it in recovery or use flashify.
5) Good to go

I've finally got around to Rooting my G Pad and installing TWRP 2.7.0.1 (both installed perfectly) BUT forgot to install Flashify and backup my Stock Recovery before I installed TWRP.

Is there any way to restore the Stock LG G Pad 8.3 Recovery and/or download it from somewhere?

I once rooted my old phone (HTC Desire) and after doing this could no longer install OTA updates (cannot remember if I installed a new Recovery too). I doubt I'll ever be reverting back to the G Pad Stock image but just in case. I'll be making sure I backup the Stock Boot, System and Data still. Which are much more important anyway.

It's taken me this long to get this far I was about to install CM11 M6 but am finally going to wait for M7 before installing that. With any luck it should appear in a few days now anyway.

Thanks.

p.s - Glad I installed TWRP 2.7.0.1. The TWRP 2.7.0.0 dimming bug is rather disconcerting, it looks like it's crashed.
