HTC one 802d cid 38 720 unlocked s off update to 4.4.2

hi
for those how want travel to 4.4.2 with ota update but face red triangle because of unlocked boot-loader or s off
1- download cwm back up 2.37.720.1
2- download cwm recovery for 802d
3- download htc soundrecorder , flash light, we-chat , calculator ( all needed download link are listed)
4- download root explorer or any file manager which can edit system folders
start
go to the fastboot and flash cwm recovery
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
go to recovery and make backup
copy cwm backup 2.37.720.1 to your phone
go to cwm recovery and restore this back up
reboot system ( cwm will ask for root system. you should hint yes)
now your phone software is 2.37.720.1
install root explorer
mount as r/w
go to data folder
make new folder named ( preload)
copy those apks to preload folder ( flashlight sound-recorder ......)
rename wechat from com.tencent.mm-1 to weixin.apk
install all of them ( some of them failed to install . that dose not make problem )
now go to setting and update and download ota update 4.4.2
after download complete chose install later .
go to download folder and copy update zip to root of memory card.
go to fast boot flash stock recovery
go to recovery chose install zip from sd ( use combination of volume up and power to see stock recovery menu)
chose ota update zip and let install.
it will reboot in recovery and need to do it again
and two times reboot during installation .
finished :D

Unlocked bootloader and S-Off should not preclude you from installing OTA updates. But a custom recovery or modified ROM will. If your bootloader shows "tampered", that might cause an issue too, but not sure on that one.

Perhaps if you don't flash an RUU or maybe the dual-sim models are different (I did glaze over that part). But it's been a non-issue for me using AT&T, GPE, and Dev Edition.

Also not an issue on a friend's Verizon HTC One which I S-Off'd immediately after he bought it, Since then, he's gotten the 4.22-4.3 and 4.3-4.4 OTA with no issue or hesitation. That phone hasn't had anything done to it other than being unlocked and S-Off since it was shortly after that I discovered that the GPE and Dev OS won't function on Verizon's CDMA network, so it's never been flashed.

I guess my point that I was trying to add here is that if you're having issues receiving OTA updates, make sure to research the common causes first.

the problem is there is no ruu for this model and unlocking bootloader will delete some apks .that s why you need to do the above procedure

That's correct. I amstill getting theHTC sound recorder error bro. I did follow your instructions. And the sound recorder and flash light apk did not install.Any help would be appreciated.

i did this procedure 3 times to ensure its right way :D:cowboy:
now im getting ota 4.22.720.8 72 mb. :cool:
some of apk didnot install . no problem
did you make the right folder and correct name? and copy apks to it?
please tell me what exactly you did and make screen shoot of your file manager after making folders
i used these apks

Thank you bro, I will try again as after failed update, we get bootloop and We have to go through the whole process again. But it is good to hear from you after all this while and I am sure I will get Kitkat. Please keep in touch. I will report back after procedure.

Hi I made it.My mistake I was trying to update with earlier update 720.4 Because lazy to download.but tried agn with fresh download 720.7 and succeeded.Thanks.I had collected some preload files but could not upgrade with earlier update..updated to its 720.8 too.

another success story about this phone . it made me happy :victory:
because this phone really has poor support and too many people sold it for that reason .

Successful finally. Feeling like on cloud no 9

Ya I am also on kitkat 4.4.2 update and is further upgrading to 720.8. My method was slightly different.

After putting stock recovery I was not getting stock recovery menu to choose update and install for update zip file. Instead I relocked the bootloader and rebooted to sense 5( I was on CWM nandroid backup that time). Now from sense 5 I opted to install the update. Waited for like 10-15 minutes (no red triangle error this time) and voila am in official KITKAT with SENSE 5.5 AND ALSO UPGRADING TO 720.8 series.... :)

Hi, anybody has RUU exe for 802d, i just succeeded S OFF and removed tampered banned, but unfortunately i fail booting to OS.
Kindly advise...

what is version of your hboot?how could you s-off ?

first s off your phone then do this or simple way find a 4.4.2 sense 6 nand back up and restore it to your phone also flash its firmware.
i have back up but its too big to upload ( my internet speed is low )
