Subscribed and looking forward to taking advantage of all the goodies, once my One arrives in the mail! Thanks for this thread and to all of the devs that are already developing for the One! It'll be tough saying goodbye to my OG EVO 4G, but I'm sure the One will lessen the pain considerably. :)

DAMN please don't tell me you haven't had any phones in between the Evo and this one! That's crazy! But that phone is pretty awesome, no lie. Brother of the great HTC Leo <3

Nope, this is actually my very first smartphone, unless the BB 8330 I had before it was considered a smartphone. I've been holding out for a worthy contender to the EVO, in comparison to when I purchase and what is the most cutting edge, since I'll be stuck with it for at least 2 years. Having it rooted, and even able to run the 4.2.2 SlimBean ROM, as well as ICS and other JB versions before it, certainly helped me hold out much longer.

Looking forward to how the One treats me. Although, I'm gonna try holding out on rooting it until someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader without it showing that it was unlocked before, if I need to unroot and relock. I've heard that AT&T doesn't allow unlocking the bootloader, so I'd hate to have a problem with my phone, unroot, relock, and take it in for diagnosis, only to be turned away because the bootloader shows a message that it had once been unlocked. Or I might unlock the official way if I discover that someone figures out a way to remove that message.

Sorry about this conversation leading somewhat off topic. I figured I'd post my concerns for deciding not to root immediately, just in case others have similar concerns. Also, someone might come across solutions that address these concerns and decide to share. Let me know if you'd rather the conversation continue elsewhere though.

I've written a tutorial for unlocking bootloader and rooting with a Mac. Link is in my Signature.

@guy4jesuschrist, wow, well welcome to the modern age :D kind of, really, you've been here for a while with the Evo. hahaha but I do see why you are concerned, but a phone like this, we're bound to have an S-Off process soon. Patience is a virtue my friend :)

Definitely! I have no problem being patient. I'm sure I'll enjoy the phone in stock form for awhile anyways. It will be a huge performance upgrade from me EVO. :) One of the first apps I will install will be:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=opotech.starfieldLWP&feature=more_from_developer

and/or

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=opotech.image3Dlwp&feature=more_from_developer

since my OG EVO doesn't have a gyroscope. Gotta love UCCW too! :)

aw that sucks D: I hate that so much. I have to wait another month for my One D: the suspense is killing me.

Dang! I'd really hate to wait another month. I finally got mine. Just waiting for it to finish charging, and then I'll get into the goodies. :)

Gonna hold off on rooting and flashing a custom ROM though, as I've read of some having speed issues depending on if the ROM bases are international or AT&T. I also read something about picture quality being better on the international, than on AT&T, but I'm hoping that only refers to custom AT&T ROMs and not the stock one. *crosses fingers*

Oh, also, I thought I'd mention another great app that I plan to install as soon as I get my One up and running. It's an advanced voice assistant app for the poweruser or novice, called "utter!"...the most recent version is in a post towards the end of the thread, not the Play Store. It's a great app, with a really great developer!

Finally got my One on Tuesday, and it's all set up. Here's the homescreen screenshot that I promised...

Btw, anyone having any issues with their speakers popping during YouTube videos, and even in some other apps? I noticed it some in YT vids, but it was the worst when I tried the Smule app "Sing" last night. It worries me that it's a hardware issue, but I've researched online and a significant number of users are having the popping during YT vids and music. No mention of "Sing" though. I just hope that a software update will fix it, considering that I just spent well over an hour applying a full body skin from bestskinsever.com. The plus is that the skin was only about $9+ including shipping, so if I have to get a replacement, it's not too big of an issue. :)
