So a co-worker of mine thinks I'm her personal repair shop after fixing a couple other devices for her and now she's thrown this S2 on my lap. She's not even good looking. :p

Anyway, the battery will not charge in the phone. I charged it externally and when I put it back in the phone it just loops the galaxy s2 logo. I know the Samsung phones have crappy power buttons (I just replaced one in her S3).

Can anyone tell me which situation is more likely here before I take it apart?

Thanks!

A faulty power button could be the cause.....the best way to tell is to try and boot the phone to both recovery and download modes.....
If the phone stays in recovery or download, it's the OS.....
If the phone reboots and bootloops then it's the power button.......

Edit....if you take the battery out and then put it back in, does the phone start up without you pressing the power button?........

What about entering download and recovery modes....does it stay or reboot?
