Query before unlocing bootloader

what is the difference between rom & kernel flashing ? Are they interdependent (eg flashing a custom rom requires custom kernel beforehand or vice versa) ? what difference do they make by flasing custom rom & kernel ? Do they depend on odexed or deodexed rom ?

Flashing kernel requires cwm/ flashtool with unlocked bootloader.Do flashing rom also requires same ?

I need to clarify these things befre flashing rom * kernel.Also which is the best one till date for custom rm & kernel?

XL C2104, 15.3.A.1.14, Odexed stock rom with locked bootloader & full root.

ROM's are majorly Deadened.. They consist of some moded features from different phone or version of Android.. They can be modified as required..

Kernel's consist of CPU & GPU governors, schedulers, CPU linking, CPU & GPU overclocking, etc..

You can flash a rom without unlocking your bootloader, but you cannot flash a kernel without unlocking the bootloader..

if u unlocked ur bootloader u will lose ur warranty......so u must make TA backup before unlocking ur bootloaders....after that u can flash kernel with CWM or TWRP RECOVERY from where u can easily flash custom rom .zip files.......HOPE THIS INFO HELPS...
