[APP] Galaxy Gear Background Color Changer (v1.05 + 1.06 BETA)

Search This thread
Thanks :)

Some news.
I'm planning a new version this week-end, if it's possible.
What could be possible :
  • Activation of WallPaper Service (on rooted stock ROM) - 50% done (Thanks to fOmey for the place where the parameter was and trevd for the framework overlay method)
  • Transparent mode (for null ROM or stock ROM with WallPaper service enable) - 100% done
  • Opacity bar - 100% done
I'm not planning to implement a wallpaper chooser at this point, there's many on the market.

This app keeps getting better! thanks for all your work. I was wondering if theres a way that you can include grey in the color wheel. Ive tried diff combinations and cant get grey. thanks

I'll look at it.
I'm not the author of the color picker, so I can't give you a firm answer.
I'll try to separate the saturation and value bar, maybe it can do the trick. If it's not possible, I'll include an hexadecimal input to let you freely choose your color.

Perhaps using the following: android-color-picker.

Iv used this on a few apps in the past, its more "gear friendly".

This was my first choice but I can't include it into Android Studio. There's always something wrong.
HoloColor Picker was set up really quickly at contrary.

But this should be possible, I've found a post from Lars Werkman explaining that separating value and saturation bars gives access to grey color.

I'll publish a new version tomorrow, I'm not at home for today. ;)

Hi.

Is it possible to change wallpaper? Like flash it together with theme zip? Where is located wallpaper for homescreen?
You can use any application to change it, like ICS Gallery and use the function "Set as wallpaper".
If you have null ROM there's no problem. On others ROM you had to have th Wallpaper service enable.
The default wallpaper is in framework-res.apk.

Version 1.06 BETA
Direct link : Removed
If you want this beta version, contact me. Reseting your Gear will cause some wreck as it seems to modifiy the rights on some folders.
You must remove or rename /vendor/overlay/framework/framework-res.apk before doing anything.

Is this worning referred to the wallpaper activation procedure (root) or it is also in general for the simple .apk installation? So will I have problem after uninstalling it?

Only for the 1.06 version with the wallpaper activation.
Uninstalling 1.06 don't remove the framework-res.apk, you had to manually remove it from the /vendor/overlay/framework/ with the file explorer you want. That's why I removed the link. :)

    Hello !
Here is a little app to change the background color of your Gear. Just use the color picker and the slider to find the color you want.
Scroll a bit down and press "Set color". And it's done.
No need to be root or custom rom for the basic task : changing the color.
It seems that the app doesn't work with MK6

Activate the Wallpaper Service on stock ROM.
    Root is needed.
    What is does :
    • Change the chmod on/data/resource-cache/* to resolve an Android bug
    • Push a custom framework-res.apk in /vendor/overlay/framework/
    • Reboot the Gear
Nothing apart the chmod on the resource-cache is modified. You can use your favorite wallpaper manager to set the wallpaper. ICS Gallery works fine.
