Epsy, Quarx, great job guys! You rock! I love what you've done and am sure you will manage to give us a fully working ICS ROM.

One question, Epsy... Is it possible to make USB OTG work on Defy? I tried it on Walter's MS2Ginger, but when I start USB Host Control, it says that USB Host is activated but USB driver is missing. I bought a micro USB OTG cable and it would be awesome if I could use a flash drive in my phone. Walter mentioned you were once able to make it work on a 2.1. :)

P.S. Battery life is a little too short here. I hope it will be improved in the near future, as I intend to start using ICS as my daily ROM.

Wow.. 3 & half days with wifi use is really impressive stuff. Which defy you have? Red lens/ green lens?

Btw, one question eppy:
If I don't care about the warranty any more, can I flash gb kernel or a stock gb sbf on my red lens defy?

By doing so will it support proper ICS build on it which supports HWA, better 3D gfx & updated open gl drivers? I understand from your earlier posts that it won't allow downgrade, but if ICS is good, I may not care about downgrade.

Sorry If I missed anything here..

You don't need to flash the whole sbf. Somewhere in this thread is a gingerbread kernel zip which can be flashed without loosing downgrade ability. However you don't need the gingerbread kernel because there are no builds for it. So better stick with froyo kernel for now.

Edit: the kernel zips can be found here http://defy.wdscript.fr/kernel/

Hi,

i am refering to the rom in the following thread:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1353003

I have a defy+ and wanted to install cm9 on it.
First i flashed the chinese rom mentioned in a post a
few days ago. then i installed cm9 from 24. february.
Now i have 2 Problems.
1.Wifi does not work -> authentication problem.(i think its a known problem)

2. i cannot mount the device as usb storage device
on my pc.

i am not able to write in the thread, so i have to ask somebody.

The user edephant asked that in a pm.

little question

This week I'll buy a Defy+, surely I'll use this rom but I don't know if I need only CM9 nightly version or maybe Jordan Kernel too (they're all into the same directory).
Thanks a lot :)

EP3, can we expect the further development of cm9 build with gb kernel?
I am a red lens defy owner, but I still look forward to it, coz gb kernel is far better for me, such as sd card performance ;-)

Do you need the camera? Then CM9 is not for you yet (it's not completely working at least).
Otherwise it is working pretty well, I use it as my daily ROM for months now.
But you can always take a look at it (just wipe data and install the zip), you can always switch back and forth between CM7.1 and CM9- or even use both at the same time using multiboot.

awesome rom, I don't care camera doesnt work, it is worth it, my small question is, why 2? and what does the romupdater does?

I know it probably updates your rom to the last one out there but, I've seen you released the RomUpdater.205-ics.apk on the 24th of february, you release one each time you release a new one? or with that one we can update always?

thx great work!

Defy Rom Updater is just like Koush's Rom Manager specially built for Defy, The koush's one is not supported totally by Defy, that's why we have specific build for Defy.

Defy Rom updater is still in Beta/Build process that's why we see different versions at different releases and different APK builds for ICS(CM9) and GB(CM7).

It's pretty handy to check for Nightly Build's and Change-logs with using just an Application. :) and can do other things like Clearing cache and stuffs.

after some mor thinking i think that it might be more difficult than it seems because we have two diffrent drivers for the camera, so it may need some renaming inside those files and libs before it works...

    maybe a new hope :

+nadlabak: Epsylon3: I've got it! SGX PVR 1.8 running despite the locked milestone kernel :D
    41
yes, like for CM10 ... JB is a kind of Cleanup of ICS which was very experimental.... Its always better the second time, but not all features are merged yet in main CM repos... but almost all...

So we are making a common repo for Defy and Defy+ also, and only this version will have official support... CM9 is already dead ;p
    41
I suppose the image means that the hack in the DEFY's kernel to replace the PVR code is a success. Damn... I was hopeful, but this is beyond expectations! Great job devs!

To be honest though, I'm not in a hurry to jump to ICS, it still has many bugs that don't exist in CM7.2, like some issues with the Data connection and WiFi issues I've been reading here in these forums. Maybe by Fall or Winter this year it will be stable enough for picky users like me ;).

I was expecting problems, but no, that solve almost all problems without any other change !

I think CM9 will be replaced by CM10, like Froyo after Eclair ... Time will tell us
