I just got an HTC M8 from Rogers and got a couple OTA updates and now I am on software number 2.23.631.2. I have looked through the forums and have not found anyone else on 2.23. The android version is 4.4.3 and the baseband is 1.19.21331147. I thought the latest firmware was version 2.22.401, how do I have 2.23.631.2?

Should I be concerned with rooting it and getting it S OFF because the firmware is 2.23 rather than 2.22?
Root should be fine, using TWRP. You SHOULD however Install TWRP, take a backup using TWRP, then ROOT, and then S-OFF.
You will probably have to use Sunshine but try firewater first. It has a low success rater however.
IF You can, please upload your TWRP backup files to google drive/mega/etc and send me a link for me to host it on my return to stock thread. I will remove your userdata files.

I have the new firmware on my unlocked stock Rogers One(m8) and wondering if I should bother even trying firewater.
please post the ota.zip somewhere.. can't seem to get it here nvm, cleared data on update app and all is well
