Hey Guys

Strange. I have Problem entering recovery mode on my device.
With my former galaxy tab :No Problem. So let me clarify a few things.
When i turn of my device battery icon appears. Correct?

While the battery icon is flashing i press down simotanely both buttons power and volume up. Or first volume up and then the power?
I tried both versions and 2 things happen. If i don´t release the power button it just keeps restarting again and again.

If i release the power button- the system boots to os.

Perhaps i have the timing not right i don´t know. When exactly do i have to release the power button. When the big Samsung Galaxy tab 7.7 screen is seen?

Sorry guys but would be nice if you would post the exact procedure. I really need root to get my back up from titanium running.

Unplug all cables first, then you'll get it (as per post #1).

Turn off mobile data option if it keeps happening, hold down the power button and choose disable network data. I even have mine on flight mode and only enable Wifi. Though I dont have the same issue as yours.

Yahoooo.... our very own Galaxy Tab 7.7 development forum. Rooted mine last night and did OTA update this morning. Surprisingly it didn't break the root. My firmware is now LA2. I made sure I have the original firmware to revert to stock before my root and I strongly suggest you to do so just in case you need to send it in for service. Make sure the firmware matches the original region of your Tab.

How do I backup my original ROM before rooting the device? I receive my SGT7.7 this Saturday (Excited!).

Thanks!

/sdcard = internal storage

/sdcard/extStorages/SdCard = external storage

Thank you for the clarification!

Having problems getting Keis to recognize the device. (I have the HK 3g model from Negri). Not sure if I need a special version of the software. Device manger sees it as SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device with and Exclamation point on the driver. Kies Version 2.2.0.12014_18.

I also tried copying the files via Root Explorer and Logmein Resque. It says that it copies the files successfully but they do not show up in /sdcard/extStorages/SdCard I can however copy the file to /sdcard. Very Strange!

Try to use sammy's own file explorer. It should work. I think root explorer works only after root.

Is there something wrong with my English so you guys won't understand what I am trying to say?

... I mean I've already put the root.zip into /sdcard/extStorages/SdCard, and it tells me no such file or directory found....

Firmware is LA1....

What's wrong with my device?

Rooting/Unrooting from 8.9 user

Hi.Jade Eyed Wolf

I'm SGT 8.9 user, but i have friend need my help for rooting his SGT P6800
so i implement the rooting process just like 8.9 do..
here is the method

For Rooting:
  1. Download the root_original.zip from the attachment..
  2. Transfer the attached file root_original.zip to the EXTERNAL SDCARD
  3. Go To recovery menu, and choose "install update from external storage"
  4. Choose root_original.zip with power button until it finish (apx 30 seconds)
  5. Reboot
  6. Install Superuser from market, run once..
  7. Install Busybox Installer from market, then install busybox
  8. Done..You just root

For Unrooting:
  1. Uninstall Busybox with proper uninstaller
  2. Uninstall superuser from Settings--application--manage application
  3. Download the unroot_original.zip from the attachment..
  4. Transfer the attached file unroot_original.zip to the EXTERNAL SDCARD
  5. Go To recovery menu, and choose "install update from external storage"
  6. Choose unroot_original.zip with power button until it finish (apx 30 seconds)
  7. Reboot
  8. Done.. You just Unroot..

Notes: Unrooting process only works with rooting process as mentioned above.. if you rooting from OP file.. unrooting will success but need to wipe all data.. and of course busybox still on device..

hope this help someone..

++++++++++++++ Advice for the new Galaxy Tab GT-P6800 & GT-P6810 user ++++++++++++++

WHAT DO you NOT make WITH YOUR NEW GALAXY TAB GT-P6800 & GT-P6810.

AFTER YOUR have rootet your device, you should NOT uninstall busysbox.

If you uninstall it nevertheless, the WIFI module of the devices will no longer work.

does this apply to all device firmware ?
is there any guide to uninstall the busybox properly ?

See my rooting guide above..
Maybe you can ask xenix what kind of module that busybox will remove when busybox removed from system.. We're in development section, technical information will make other member find the way if the information is valid..

So, apparently, the same rooting method used on the various other Tab's seems to work with the 7.7 as well! Just follow the instruction below:

    1. Download and install LATEST SAMSUNG KIES (or stand-alone USB drivers if you can find them)
    2. Transfer the attached file root.zip to the EXTERNAL CARD on Galaxy Tab 7.7
    3. Turn off the Galaxy Tab 7.7
    4. Enter Recovery
    - Hold Volume UP button + Power Button
    - When TAB turns ON, RELEASE POWER BUTTON (Keep Holding Volume UP Button)
    - Will Enter Recovery
    5. Select install update from EXTERNAL Storage
    6. Look for the file root.zip and select it with power button
    7. When Finish, REBOOT. You're done!

    Enjoy! :)

    UPDATE:
Since we now have a ICS ROM for our lovely niche tablet, at this stage we still don't have a stand-alone root.zip which is ICS compatible, so the above method WILL NOT WORK if you are already on ICS. However, don't panic, the easy way around this is:

If you are already on ICS, flash back to stock using PC Odin, or Heimdall.
Once you have done that, and you are successfully back on Honeycomb, you can use the above method to root your device.
Once you are rooted (in Honeycomb), you can then install Mobile Odin (thank you Chainfire!).
Now you can flash to ICS using Mobile Odin with the "ever root" option enabled.
You should now have ICS and root access!

    Enjoy!

Here's a version which includes SU and SuperUser.apk:

    root.zip
    5
root.zip worked fine for me on a clean install after I first installed CWM.zip from the Galaxy Note forum. http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1647148

    Just install root.zip from clockworkmod.

This worked great after installing ICS using PC ODIN.
    3
    it works

this is a working root for ICS

    - Download these 2 files ( CWM.zip and root.zip ) and put in your SDCARD:
    - Reboot to recovery: (Hold Volume Up+Power till it reboot to recovery)
    - Choose apply update from external storage.
    - Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
    - Once the cwm recovery appear: Touch the screen to choose and navigate the options
    * This cwm recovery is only temporary cwm recovery.

    Once you had install the cwm recovery, navigate and;
    - Choose install zip from sdcard.
    - Choose zip from sdcard.
    - Choose root.zip ;and Yes - Install root.zip.
    - Once done, choose reboot system now.
    * Your device is rooted without permanent cwm recovery: If you don't need cwm recovery. You can stop at here.
You will find superuser app in your drawer

O.K. I confirm that it works. THANKS MAN.

Ok.. I answered my own question. This method works perfectly with the Verizon LTE 7.7.
