(Q) No way to root the N900A on 4.4.2?

I've looked around for a few hours now, every root thread I've found for the N900A are for 4.3. So I unfortunately feel as if my assumption of not being able to get root access on my N900A with 4.4.2 is spot on.

Is this an accurate assumption?

I really just want to lower the screens DPI and remove the AT&T bloat.
I will never buy an AT&T branded phone again.

You are correct. Stock kit Kat can't be rooted currently.

Just look around in this thread. There's 25,000 threads created already about 4.4.2 root. (That there is no root)

Just have to be patient or get a different phone.
