Yes the Verizon model might need an updated driver.. If anyone finds one that works for Verizon I'll update the op.

One other thing is to make sure USB debugging is checked in development settings as its not on by default.

Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 4

Great! I'll post if I can find anything that works.

There is some pre installed MTP driver on Windows 8 that takes over and doesn't allow me to choose/use another driver. Even after i uninstall the driver, and do the below steps to make windows stop using it's own drivers....it still shows up and works. I haven't found a way around this yet.

1. Go to Start, type change device installation settings in the Start Search box and then press ENTER.
2. In the Device Installation Settings window, select No, let's me choose what to do.
3. Select Never install driver software from Windows Update.
4. Click Save Changes

Did any of you verizon users try searching the LG website for the verizon model G2 to see if they've been posted?

If you can tell me how to get to this I'll try it. I couldn't figure out how to actually download it on on the LG site. It just tells you to download it from some LG mobile support tool that's nowhere to be found.

I also couldn't find it.
I don't know if anyone else is seeing what I see when I plug my phone in, but for about 15 seconds I see an LG virtual CD drive with drivers on it.

I believe this is the driver that you guys are looking for.

I have uploaded it to my website and will keep it there for a bit today, if that is sthe correct one, I can, or someone else can, upload it to a site that can handle more bandwidth.

No I got to that page, but try to actually download it.

I couldn't get it to do anything. If I'm just being an idiot let me know, but I tried and couldn't download it from that page.

Yes I see what you mean. I don't know what the "step 2" deal is.

How about this? http://www.mylgphones.com/lg-android-usb-device-drivers

There is something for Verizon in that page.

Or the post above yours....

EDIT:
It looks like on the LG website, you need to download an LG Mobile Support Tool first, and then the drivers install from that.

You can find the tool here:

Did you try the Mobile Support Tool? When you run it, there is a step 2 or 3 that will automatically download the needed drivers, apparently.

I couldn't find any mobile support tool that looked like it wasn't a legitimate program. There aren't any on LG's site. Maybe we just have to wait a few days for drivers, although it's odd since ATT already has a working driver.

    Hey guys,

So, I've taken a look at this application, and while it appears to do what it says on the tin, I can't be 100% sure that it doesn't provide some 'value added' services as well. There's code in the app to do automatic updates, collect personal information ( http://pastebin.com/pxtDsGbC ), potentially listen to things like your SMS messages ( http://pastebin.com/yruveH33 ), and even change your wallpaper.

It also injects .so files into system_server and servicemanager, both of which appear at quick glance to possibly persist across reboots.

This is compounded by the fact that this application will have full root permissions after executed. In short, I don't trust it.

I have confirmed that jcase's root for the Moto X ( http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=45598679 ) can be adapted to this device quite easily. (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE UNMODIFIED MOTO X ROOT ON YOUR G2)

When jcase returns back to IRC I'll detail my observations to him so he can post a new root.

Also, as usual, Team Codefire continues to support this new LG device, and we look forward to having an announcement for an unlock or bypass in the next few weeks.

    Thanks y'all for your patience!

EDIT: I've just confirmed there's a no-brainer root in the ATT shipping ROM, which I take no credit for finding. I'm going to run it by jcase tomorrow to ensure that I'm not spoiling anything if I post it.
If you're planning on rooting your phone, just wait until tomorrow (Tuesday afternoon at least!)

EDIT2: There also appears to be a LOT of root checking going on in this phone, the stock recovery binary blows some qfuses if you've rooted your phone, and there's no known way to reset those.
    Basically, don't root yet. Please!

EDIT3: My previous statement about qfuses in recovery is incorrect.. it is *READING* them

    Rooted. Thanks OP and community.

Those having trouble getting the VZW variant to recognize via ADB:

    1. Turn on USB Debugging in developer settings.
    2. Under System settings there is a PC settings option. In the PC settings, click USB settings, then Internet connection, then Ethernet.
    3. Go to device manager in Windows. Update the driver for the LG device with the download from OP.
    4. Reboot phone or Windows if prompted.

If you have a mac, there are no drivers for this phone on OSX. You need to run a windows virtual machine and connect the phone to that VM.

Also, can we please compile a list of apps which can be frozen or uninstalled safely on the Verizon version?

    Howdy all!

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=45692679#post45692679

I've got a root for ATT and VZW, TMO coming soon as I can get someone to join #lg-g2 in freenode that has a TMO G2 and has current root (yeah, I know, chicken and egg problem)

    Thanks!
